Found out what Ken Stanley was dealing with. Coldspring might be the single greatest dumpster fire in SETX. District in the red with no athletic budget, community will not pass a bond for terrible facilities, TEA taking over after this year and will be subsequently burning the district down while implementing the new "HISD" pay plan that no decent teacher in the state will touch. A fairly naive question understanding that you failed to read the question (or at least lost track of what was stated). Barbay has not been there in 11 years. Several coaches "made it work" in the past including Ken Stanley. What is happening right now has never happened in the district before. That is why TEA will be taking control in a few weeks and burning the district down. Did that happen when Barbay was there? Also, do you suppose that Barbay had an athletic budget? Quote

This has been going on for years even before Barbay was there. He was hired in my Senior year and he was left with a budget way messed up than what it is now. Quote

Like most situations it is a combination of factors. However, the ultimate responsibility of financial and staff mismanagement lies with the superintendent and school board. All of whom will be dismissed by the state in short order and replaced by a state board. Quote

TC2020 Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 Does Colmesniel hire Day for a 3rd time?!? Great Coach who did an awesome job here. However, last time he was at Colmesniel he left twice in one semester... So I wonder how many bridges were burned in that process? Quote

The fans in Coldspring really didn't "approve" of this hire at all so hopefully he can move back to greener pastures. It's going to take a special kind of hire to turn this ship around and get us in the right direction. We should start looking for schools with head coaches/coordinators with decent success at schools further away or pull from a 5A/6A school in the Greater Houston area that is looking for a start but have to come with the understanding that there will be obstacles to overcome. Yep, the coach they planned to hire from the beginning told them to “pound sand” when he got all the information on the district. They will need to find someone who is naive and knows nothing about how schools run or what is needed to build a program. Whomever they end up with is likely to have a new Supt and school board shortly after he is hired. A new coordinator from one of the school types that you mentioned is probably the best bet. Quote

I have some classmates or guys that I went to school with that are current coordinators that would be perfect for this job. One is at West Fork right now that comes to mind but I doubt he'll want it since he played for Shepherd but you never know. Quote
