myrecordwashorrible Posted May 2 Author Report Posted May 2 SELA takes game 1 with a final of 6-2. The long ball hurt the Cards as the Lions had 3 solo shots. LU struggle of leaving runners on bites em' again as they leave 11. Game 2 in about 40 minutes. Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted May 2 Author Report Posted May 2 Yuck. 10-0 in 7. At least the weather was nice. Quote
spidersal Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 Looks like 7 more games and pack the bags for the summer Another disappointing season under Davis leadership Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted May 3 Author Report Posted May 3 First pitch of the final regular season home game in about 10 minutes. Cards win and they will hold at least a 1 game lead on Northwestern and Nicholls for the 2nd place spot which gives you a host site in the first weekend of conference postseason play. A loss and you could be tied with both. Don't know the conference tiebreaker, but Lamar would have a 4-2 record against the other 2 with Nicholls at 3-3, and Northwestern at 2-4. Next week, Nicholls finishes against SELA, Northwestern against McNeese, and the Birds face off with HCU. Watch, wait, and wonder. Another nice day at the Beck. Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted May 3 Author Report Posted May 3 Birds take final home game 8-2. HCU in Houston next week starting on Thursday. Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted May 4 Author Report Posted May 4 UNO delivers a gift to Lamar as they take 2 of 3 from Nicholls with an extra inning win today. Lamar now has a 1 game lead on Northwestern and a 2 game lead on Nicholls for the 2 seed and hosting in the first round. HCU will be trying to hold on to its 1 game lead while holding the tiebreaker over Corpus for the final spot in the tournament next weekend when the Birds face off with them. UTRGV sits 1 and 1/2 back of Lamar as well, but is off next weekend and LU swept them to open conference play. There are many scenarios, but 2 wins by Lamar next weekend guarantees hosting in the first round. Quote

myrecordwashorrible Posted yesterday at 06:58 PM Author Report Posted yesterday at 06:58 PM Final day of the regular season. Warm day in Houston. Big day for HCU as they likely need to take 1 game to make the tournament. Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted 22 hours ago Author Report Posted 22 hours ago Birds take game 2 of the series. Finale of the regular season in about 15 minutes. HCU with backs against the wall. Must win or hope for UNO to fall to Corpus for the final spot. Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted 22 hours ago Author Report Posted 22 hours ago Just went into a lightning delay in the bottom of the first. Will follow on game tracker. Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted 18 hours ago Author Report Posted 18 hours ago Game 3 will take place with a scheduled start of 1:00 after rain and lightning put a halt to today's finale HCU must win to get in the tournament. Davis had the usual suspects in the lineup as Lamar has a shot to be champs if Nicholls can take both games of a double header against SELA tomorrow. If those two split Lamar could be co-champs but would be the 2 seed. Another scenario could be only 1 game played in Hammond tomorrow as the weather there could cause problems especially with lightning delays. I would assume they would not play Monday. Wait and see. myrecordwashorrible Posted 2 hours ago Author Report Posted 2 hours ago Outfield (infield is turfed) in Hammond has been deemed unplayable. Lamar will be the 2 seed regardless of the outcome of today's game against HCU. LU has replaced most of the starting position players and did not bring the starting pitcher after getting in only a half inning of yesterday's game. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote
spidersal Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago After watching Lamar vs HCU today and realizing that they rarely play well vs the 3 teams in their bracket, I do not believe they have much of a chance to make it to the championship series. In fact the way they have played in conference tournaments under Davis, do not be surprised if they go 0-2 in the tournament Quote

Several every day starters sat out due to Lamar having already clinched the #2 seed. Pitched several guys who needed some work. But then again, it's a very normal post for you. Carry on. Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted 33 minutes ago Author Report Posted 33 minutes ago If I'm reading the standings and tiebreakers correctly, LU will face SFA with UTRGV and Northwestern State facing off in the "Beaumont" bracket next week. SELA, Nicholls, McNeese and HCU (clinched final spot today) will be in the "Hammond" bracket. Go Cards and any team other than SELA on the other side of the bracket if you want ball at The Beck for 2 more weeks. Uncle Spidey ends the season complaining. Ag is irritated. All is right in SETX land. In the words of General Patton, "God help me, I do love it so." Quote
