I remember so many good things that he said to encourage others who were down. My daughter wore a sweater to school one cold day; he saw her shivering took off his WOS jacket and he gave it to her. The last time I spoke to him was when we played in the Astrodome. What a great individual he was.  I will never along with so many others forget him.

The man pulled me out of class cuz I was failing Calculus with Griff. I wasnt a star player but he told me this... idk what position play or if u play at all. But your names on my list now. So get your *stuff together or I'll be having another meeting with u that won't go so well. Get your *butt back in there and listen to Griff. Don't make me come down this hall again.

Yesssir!!! And and i passed Calculus. RIP Coach

Sometimes during the pep rally it would barely stop long enough for him to speak. Then right back at it until the band played stop look and listen.

Prayers for his family and friends. I still remember having him as a coach at Lamar in 1971. Weird sense of humor, sometimes moody, all-around good guy.

I was the QB of that team!!
