SETXsports Rankings???

Should we (me) or shouldn't we (me)?

I have had some folks (and coaches) ask me to bring back our basketball rankings. Personally, I don't really miss doing them. lol

If the rankings are brought back, it will be for all our coverage area teams, not just super local. Can't have rankings here on this site that doesn't consider all our teams.

Let's hear your opinion. Rankings or no rankings?

Would you split it up big school and small school?

More like top eight 6A/5A, 4A/3A, 2A/1A.

Or, top 12 6A/5A/4A and 3A/2A/1A

Would be titled SETXsports Elite Eight or Dirty Dozen

The breakdown of our coverage area teams goes like this:

23 6A/5A teams

35 4A/3A teams

22 2A/1A teams

or

37 6A/5A/4A teams

43 3A/2A/1A teams

I love the dozen even more after you putting it like that… cause if you did 8 6A/5A split and 2A/1A split 1/3 of the area teams are ranked in those classifications… granted 1/3 of the areas 6A/5A/4A will be ranked on Dirty Dozen but holds more weight IMO.

Should. Just as long as it doesn’t directly mimic the TABC. Brad Ernst would be a great resource

I like the idea of 6A/5A, 4A/3A, 2A/1A better than what we had in the past. personally I also like the idea of 8 teams instead of 12. When I used to participate it always seems like I had to really dig deep to find teams to vote in those last couple of spots in both the big school and small school rankings. I don't really think some 12-10 team with an easy schedule deserves to make the rankings just because a classification runs out of quality teams to vote for. I'd also be open to submitting a poll if you want to try to get a group of us together to vote again, although i understand it's probably easier and less work for you to come up with the list yourself.

I'm all for a panel to do the rankings.

But it is much easier for just me to do it. Some of the guys I had help do it (not you bullets13) were not putting much effort in which really would skew the composite. They simply were not paying much attention and was just mailing it in. IMO it wasn't a good accurate ranking. (not that all rankings are accurate)

I do agree with your point about ranking 8 over 12. Only problem is 4A/3A having a dozen more teams than 6A/5A and 2A/1A. You would be ranking the top 1/3 in those two while only ranking the top 1/4 in 4A/3A.
