SNAP - WIC - SSI - APPROXIMATELY 60 MILLION RECIEVING IT IN 2024

Why are we not having conversations to get people off these programs?? 

That is a bunch of people that can't take care of themselves........

Republicans try to have those conversations on a regular basis, democrats do not.

To democrats, those folks that remain on the public dole represent votes and a means to keep them in power, plain and simple.

Crumbs for votes, sad.

Thankfully, Trump is attempting to pass this responsibility to the states, all while democrats are kicking and screaming against it.

Neither party really wants things to change much. The side no one thinks about. This is $100 billion annually worth of tax payer funds being funneled into our economy and food industry. It’s not just about helping the people.

It is really sad that so many grown people can't take care of themselves. I realize some people have disabilities that prevent them from working and they need help. However, we shouldn't pay people to stay at home and have babies and condition them to live off the government.  Those type programs should have strict limits.

What about the working poor? If you lose your job how long will take before you need assistance

Here's an interesting thought:  Instead of waiting for a check in the mail, how about finding another job!

I am asking you. If you lose your job, how long would it take for you to need assistance? 3 mos, 6 mos? It is easy to judge if you are not in that situation

I quit a job on a Wednesday as a rent to own manager (Rent-A-Center), put my applications in to other retail management jobs, in the MEANTIME, I went to work as a laborer for Mid-Gulf construction for a little more than half my previous wages. If you don’t know what a laborer is, it’s the entry level position and you get the jobs no one else wants to do…..and you use a shovel A LOT…..I hated that job so much I vowed never to ever own a shovel…I was young

I tell that story because your first priority should be getting back to work, even if it a job you hate or feel it is beneath you.

And to answer your irrelevant question, back then about 1 month. Now, much longer, but at the same time, probably 1 month,….I wouldn’t want to dip Into my savings…..so I would get a job, to this day, even one I didn’t like.
