People here have always said we need to keep up with the Asians (in education). Now, when I ask a few questions I find out that they really aren't serious about it. I rode the subway in Seoul, South Korea everyday. Usually getting on the train around 5:45am. Kids, as young as 6-7 riding the subway to school. 10 hours of school. (Americans, that's way too early and way too much). They go to school year round 2 two week breaks. 1 in summer 1 in winter. (No way, we need our summers) If kids aren't performing they are removed to a lower education school and class keeps going. (That is cruel) But these are the folks excelling at everything and our kids, by and large, aren't. Oh yeah, sports in schools are not the end all be all as it is here. Quote
