Yeah, he votes Trump’s position about 99% of the time. I guess that’s not enough of a yes man for the Weasel. All must comply 100% with him or risk retribution. Screw what their constituencies may want or need. It’s all about The Donald.

Hunter won’t respond. Lmao.

Any analysis of the R candidate vs. James Talarico?

I have never heard of this individual.  I presume he's a Democrat.  What are you thoughts?

I hardly ever understand the RINO claims when it comes to votes. Cornyn will vote to confirm any Republican nominee, etc.

Cornyn supports a few issues that I don’t agree with like red flag laws. For that reason I want another Republican senator if possible. But if he get it again, he isn’t going to be caucusing with the Democrats.

As far as the Trump claims, the term RINO and its meaning did not start nor will it end with Trump. For some reason (maybe it’s all the have left) the left side of the aisle claims that Trump supporters are a cult and blah blah blah.

No, they are not. It’s not like pro Second Amendment, shutting down the border, having a strong military, heavy support for law enforcement, doing away with business restrictions and so on started with Trump. On some social media platforms that I read, you would think that the Republicans and Democrats were nearly in a lockstep and only had minor differences. Poof! Along came Trump and all of a sudden there were huge divides and differences!

Uhhhh….. no.

Reagan, have you researched Talarico? Yes, he is a Democrat and a Texas State House Rep. for District 50, which includes North Austin and the Pflugerville area. He is a former schoolteacher. He is not a firebrand politician. So far, he has been campaigning to the Democratic moderates, independents, and center-slightly right Republicans. Talarico is currently leading Crockett in the March primary. It will be worth watching to see whether Talarico wins and, if so, how he performs against the eventual Cornyn/Paxton/Hunt nominee over the summer and next fall.

Is this the dude you are talking about?  He's already stepped in it.

What's wrong with what Talarico said?  Texas should not welcome our neighbors from the south?  He didn't say open the borders and do away with immigration laws. Did you watch Talarico's debate with Crockett or are you just copying and pasting snips from Paxton's X account?  How can R's back Paxton?  Adultery is OK, just don't let in those brown people at the southern border?  Let in their tacos, hot sauce, Mexican restauants, Dos Equis, Modelo, and cheap labor, but shut down the border and pick up the welcome mat if they want to live here?  Paxton's like Trump, just grab'em in the p---y, commit adultrey, and run for re-election.  SMH.

Open the southern border is what Joebama did with disastrous results.  This will be played in campaign commercials if he's the nominee.  But, we have to support our Texas sister Lil Jazzy Crocket.

Geez…. 😂

A giant welcome mat like your front porch doesn’t sound like accepting people who have entered the country legally.

Who can walk up on a front porch? Anyone. Front porches are open to the public. This guy sounds like he wants Texas to be that front porch where anyone can come up for any reason.

He could have easily mentioned legal immigration only without mentioning come on up on my front porch.

However…..

These kinds of snippets are sometimes noted as being true (actual recording) but completely dishonest on intent. It is entirely possible that Talarico said that he was only for legal immigration AND if immigrants comply with federal law, we should welcome them. I doubt it but it is entirely plausible.

I don’t know where to go with the tacos, hot sauce and beers comment. That is downright hilarious. 🤣🤣🤣

Uhhh…yes. Trump has driven divisions that were incomprehensible 15 years ago. Never has such a liar occupied the Oval Office. Never has anyone in the Oval Office, including Nixon been so focused on themselves at the expense of the Constitution, and reason in general for that matter. He is consequential in a bad way.

None of which addresses the topic of the thread or my comment.

The thread is about Paxton v. Cornyn and my comment was about RINOs. All of the claimed RINOs almost always end up voting in lockstep with the party.

Your response is, Orange Man Bad!!

Stunning! I never saw that coming. 🤣

Back to the actual topic of the thread, listed below is an Emerson College poll from three weeks ago, Pacton and Cornyn are at 27% and 26% respectively. Hunt is at 17% and the rest undecided.

That generally follows the trend of the last few months with a dead heat within the margin of error and a likely runoff.

An interesting part of the poll however shows Cornyn beating Talarico by 3% and Crockett by 5%.  Paxton shows a tie with both. That seems to address the negativity toward Paxton who carries baggage. Where Cornyn is seen as the RINO who doesn’t work an play well with others, he doesn’t have the corruption factor attached to him like Paxton. That could possibly win Paxton the primary but the more likely possibility of losing in the general election.

I think Cornyn needs to somehow win in the primary- I don’t like his chances in a runoff against Paxton.  But IF Paxton wins the nomination, I think he has the biggest chance of losing to whichever Dem wins their nomination.

Paxton (“Our General”) has the support of the MAGA crowd.  The more centrist Rs prefer Cornyn.

Personally? I’d vote for Cornyn. If Paxton gets the nom, I’ll vote for anybody else (including Crockett), just to punish MAGA.

Maybe they’re ok with forgiveness?

Anyone besides me seen the new Jasmine Crockett ad? Apparently, she’s attempting to appeal to the under 18, demon hunter anime crowd because I don’t see too many legal age voters being influenced other than to say, “huh”?

🤣🤣🤣

A candidate has some personal life issues and that equates to being “okay with” whatever it is?

If you want to start throwing stones, okay. Do you want to start with Clinton having an affair in the Oval Office while the Secret Service plays lookout? Is the DNC okay with that?

Your premise is silly. If I was moral guidance I will seek out a church, not a political candidate.

Like I keep saying… when decent men decide to accept less from their leaders, we end up with terrible leaders.

Is that the approach you’d take when hiring police officers? “If I wanted a saint, I’d hire a preacher. Give me a bunch of felons to uphold the law. It’ll work out just fine.”

It turns out that the lost important value a person has is their character… and self-proclaimed “good” people keep saying it doesn’t matter when it comes to Trump.

You never gave your opinion on the performance of those ice agents in Minneapolis who beat and then killed that nurse. I just assumed you were putting together a bunch of legal opinions that would say “it’s okay to kill someone who isn’t resisting after you disarm them,” but I guess not. I guess it’s just another situation where “right is right and wrong is wrong, unless it comes from Trump’s big fat behind, then it’s okay because he talks to people the way that I wish I could, but I’d get fired.”

When someone asks why so many support Trump, or other less than stellar Republican candidates, it might be because they see a massive shift away from America's founding principles within the Democratic Party. They may be willing to look past some ugliness to protect what they see as the bigger picture.

Supporters say the wins — marking the first time a democratic socialist has been elected to public office in New Jersey in over a century — represent more than a moment. They signal a trend. And many in the movement, which rejects capitalism in favor of community ownership, have their eyes set on higher office.

(I love how they wordsmith communism with 'community ownership.')
