Walker’s first HR was almost a check swing. It barely cleared the RF foul pole and the fence. The way it came off the bat, I assumed it was foul and then I went….man, it went out. Altuve and Walker went back-to-back HRs.

Well now 3 up with a 2 hit shutout 2 to 0.  Left bunches on base .  Javiar with no hitter through six, great pitching.  De Los santos gives up the 2 hits and gets the win and believe it or not Ort the save.

Need to figure out how to give our good pitchers some run support.

I hate the larger bases and the oven mitts. The game dimensions have been fine for 100s of years. To me, this isn’t fair to those who had to steal with the smaller bases and no hand extensions.

A great pitching performance by Arreghetti 8 Ks 1 hr thru 6 tied 1-1 thru 8 Abreu way off lose 4-1.  Seattle loses 4-3 so still 3 up.

We just left too many on again.  That has to improve somehow.

Oh well destined to lose today.  Good pitcher pitching no run support.  Couple with playing  the last place team syundrome.  Hunter pitched well ebough to win.  lose 3-0 with only 2 hits.  Seattle wins so up 2 now.

IMO McCullers is washed up and something need to be done.  Was great once but not now.

Luis Garcia makes his return to the mound after being out two-plus years following Tommy John surgery. He gets the start today against the Angels.

Sure hope he works out.  Gotta score some runs tho.  But we still looking good considering.

Gotta love baseball and their stats. For me there are too many other factors. I’m gonna say McCullers was pitching and McCormick was in center during some of the losses. Lol

I agree. What spot he was in the batting order plays a lot in those results. 

Also, what teams they were playing.

Yes, even more than that. I just mentioned my two losers.

I think the stat man will figure that out. I see as a team they are averaging about a 150 batting average with RISP. This is not what I would call very good, however stat man will think it is ok

I noticed when I posted about them having some players that needed to be sent to the minors, he had a hissy fit and  posted what he thought were great stats

However about a month later he stated that about half the lineup were minor league players  I thought that was interesting  He went from how tremendous they were to half being minor league players in less than a month

It is hard to win when you can’t score runs because your RISP is about .150

They have 24 regular season games left, hopefully they will win at least half of them

You were pointing out players having bad games. That happens.

I pointed out players being called up due to half the team being on IL. That's a big difference.

For some greater part of the season, Houston had to play some of their minor league guys because their major league guys were on the IL. Had nothing to do with performance. Basically due to attrition. 

Houston being three games up in September after playing most of their season with some minor leaguers on the roster speaks volumes of how well they have played overall.

Astros to this date are still in top 5 hitting and top 5 pitching in the AL. 

Now do they need to get better with runners in scoring position? Yes indeed. That has definitely fallen off the last month.

Also, the pitching has been stressed the last month due to a few being on IL. The team ERA has risen a bit. Came up from 3.45 to now 3.83. But that is normal for teams ERA to rise late in season. Arms get weary. All the AL teams ERA has risen the last month, including Texas who has been #1 all season. Their ERA has gone from 3.15 to 3.44. That's just the norm this time of year.

Good post by AggiesAreWe, however the players that I mentioned that should have been in the minors, should have been in the minors. That is because they are no better than the ones they had to bring up. I agree with all the other things on your posts

Framber had 8 Ks in 5 but Grand Slam killed him 6-1 top 8

All 7 runs so far have been from HR (2 run, grand slam, solo). The two that Framber gave up were with two outs.
