Astros relief pitchers King, Ort, and Whitley showed that they are not major league caliber pitchers tonight

Yep. Astros should release King and Ort.  Both only have a sub 4 ERA and not the top guys in the pen.  Quite sure there are capable relievers walking the streets or mowing em down in AAA the team is overlooking. Stay positive Uncle Spidey!

Correct with the sarcasm. King and Ort has been doing very well.

Y’all must not have watched those 2 last night king didn’t even record an out. It was 3-3 when he came in and 8-3 when they took him out. Ort wasn’t much better If y’all think those 2 are quality pitchers in the major league, y’all must be drinking some crazy stuff. A 4.00 era is not what I would call good A 2 or less yes, bud a 4 no

So a quality pitcher can't have a bad outing? The results of one game trumps what has been done the rest of the season? Got it.

Astros pitching is currently top 6 in AL with a 3.44 ERA. Those two have helped Houston maintain a top 5 pitching this season.

Up until the last couple of weeks, Houston pitching has been their strength. Batting was not doing very well but that has picked up and now the Astros are 2nd in AL in batting.

As a staff (King and Ort included) the Astros have been good. Could they be better? Yes. But only 5 teams in the AL are performing better than Houston and only one of those teams are in the division (Texas).

But you obviously think Houston should be #1 in AL in both batting and pitching. Otherwise, you would not have commented after this 13-3 loss. But that is what we are used to here. No comments from you when things are good, only when it's bad. smh

Yes I have committed when things are good also. I am amazed that you never mention wins and losses only stats. There pitching stats are certainly respectable, not counting King and Ort, hitting so-so. They simply have trouble putting the favorable pitching and hitting together. Last night for example, the hitting was ok, however the pitching was really bad. The next game it may be just the opposite or both may be good. Basically as of today there is no consistency and that is why they are 30-26 and yes they are in 2nd place in their division which is nice, however the overall record at this time is not good

you need to forget about the stats(I know you can’t because you are a stat person) and worry about the wins and losses. Hopefully they will turn out positive at the end of the season

Do you realize that Houston is tied for the 4th best record (that's wins and losses) in the AL? Only half a game back of 1st in their division?

That gets you in the playoffs btw.

I don’t care if .500 gets us in the playoffs. Like has already been said……that’s baseball. No matter who you are, if you’re a pitcher, you’re gonna have games like that. Heck, I miss the days of Octavio Dotel / Billy Wagner, but even they lost games. Right now, I’m enjoying the crap out of Peña’s defense.

Play card in game showed 80 but I'll take it

It was 83 but that is still as about as efficient as one can get. Just a tad over 9 pitches per inning on average.

Glad this was not a wasted gem. Already had a couple of those this year.

Gave up 3 hits, one earned run and 9 K's.

I’ll leave the stats to you guys. I heard the announcers say 89 and then I saw Rupert with 80 pitches. 83 is correct. Hey, I still had fun. Diaz sure redeemed himself for the runner advancing to 2nd, then gunning him down at 3rd. That was huge. Then the walkoff!!!!

Astros pitching is pulling it's weight. 3rd best team ERA in American League (3.46). Top 5 in save opportunities and WHIP. Top 3 in strikeouts.

Houston's team batting is currently middle of the pack in AL with team batting average at .226. Hitting is getting better over the last 10 games bringing that average up from .204.

If the Astros can continue to pitch this well and the hitting continues to improve, then I can see Houston atop the division by the All Star break.

Well, I was wrong.

Astros at the top of the division on May 31, not All-Star break.

So I missed it by a month.

What a good mistake to make. Lol. Last Mariners score I saw was 4-2 in like the bottom of 6th. It was a late game on west coast, so I went to bed. Twins tied it up in top of 9th @6-6. Top of 10th, Twins scored 6 runs and won it 12-6. Astros lead by 1/2 game. Go Astros.

I lost count of how many outs were attributed to Peña, but he was a monster @ SS last night. I used to worry when we lost Correa because of Correa’s arm strength, but no longer.
