I thought it was interesting in that politics is a dirty business. People sling dirt all the time. Trump can’t do that. People change their views, even parties, Trump can’t change his mind. All in all, it’s just a “get Trump” argument. Trump did something people don’t like…..shocker. Massie was not fired by Trump, he was voted out by Kentuckians. Reagan 1 Quote

I just wonder what will be left when Trump is not the face, and someone is needed to fight the socialists. Right now, he’s doing it with populism. Not sure someone else can carry that load the same way. The socialists are coming. And they’re coming hard and fast. baddog 1 Quote

Big Daddy's Beans (Yes, they call me "Big Daddy") Pound of pinto beans, anasazi beans (learned about these from @tvc184) or red beans. Pound of ground beef Pound of jalapeno sausage (I use my deer jalapeno cheese sausage) Large onion - yellow or white Can of rotel Pinto bean seasoning, tony's or some other season salt Garlic powder Black pepper 3 bay leaves Cook it like you cook beans normally - on the stove, instant pot, crock pot etc. Serve with some rice, cornbread and real butter. I have several bean variations, but this one is real good with the jalapeno sausage... baddog and Porter 1 1 Quote

I am eternally thankful to Trump for defeating Hillary and Kamala just for that single fact. Here is another thing that seriously needs addressing. Quote

So, I appreciate that. (Although, I'm definitely against his involving us in Intel--which is straight up socialism--even if it can be kind of construed as national security if stretched.) But, he's not good on government overreach, and he just campaigned and helped eliminate one of the staunchest fighters for limited government and free markets. Same token, Gallrein is a very pro 2nd Amendment defender--which definitely fits my personal view--is a veteran, and a farmer. Those are 3 things we have in common. I don't know his fiscal ideas, and that's usually one of my main criteria. So, we'll see. Maybe, he can help put more focus on the farmers. They're under some stress right now. baddog 1 Quote

Conservatively, I think Trump will keep House or Senate - worst case, Democrats gets both with a very small majority that keeps them in check to not do something stupid. Trump lames out last 2 years and Democrats push to impeach but will not have enough votes to do anything..... So, 2028 - what do you think about Vance? Quote
DCT Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago In Trumps administration, there’s no money for child care or health care. However, there is money to pay for Jan. 6 insurrectionists. Trump says it's not possible for the US to pay for medicare and day care: “Were fighting wars.” Justice Department set up 1.8 Billion fund. Quote

That was, as most things are, taken out of context. The white house later reported he was talking about reducing fraud and shifting responsibilities to the states, not ending Medicare or Medicaid. I have no problem with that - all the fraud being discovered in Child care and the 14 billion in healthcare fraud....something needs to be done. Quote

But, I don’t think he has the personality that will attract independent voters, or keep Trump’s MAGA group cohesive. He’s somewhat polished/robotic. I just don’t see him being able to carry forward. So, I’m somewhat concerned that Trump is thinking—as he usually does—transactionally (short-term for himself) instead of longer term. To me, there is no more fiscal conservative brand of free market people. MAGA has destroyed them. The Freedom Caucus is the closest. But, now they’re associated with MAGA, which has proven to be not fiscally conservative at all. Reagan was Reagan. Then, there was Trump. Their personalities were what made them. I don’t see anyone on the GOP side that has that as of right now. For whatever reason, many people seem to be more into personality than policy nowadays. I COULD—stress COULD—see a somewhat repeat of Reagan/Bush 1 POTUS succession with Trump/Vance. Vance definitely fits more into the Bush 1 mold to me. But, Trump seems to be doing all he can to blow that scenario up. Just my thoughts as a true independent. Quote

A lot of it has to do with the remaining term and what is accomplished. If Iran deal is made, prices drop for Mid-Terms and he focuses on lowering cost he may get Vance across the line - then let Vance work on Healthcare. With the very narrow majority in house and senate (one way or the other) - I see nothing of significance like healthcare happening in the next two years. Quote
