Do you think Newton Eagles and West Orange Stark Mustangs have a change to go play at Jerry World

I think both have a decent chance.... I was a little concerned after the close win by WOS last week. It just doesn’t seem like either squad is unleashing devastation on their opponents with three rounds (and tougher teams) in front of them.

Good luck to both squads, though.

And on behalf of BC, I’ll gladly accept recognition from both the WOS and Newton fanbases for helping to prepare their squads for these playoff runs during games against the Cardinals in non-district play.

You’re truly welcome.

If your still in the playoffs, there's a chance.

Thats right. No weak teams in round 4.

First round is FULL of teams that really don't belong. Somebody has to win each game though.

Round 2 still has some weak teams that advanced because they were matched with other weak teams in round 1. They go down in round 2.

Round 3 has good and very good teams left. The weak have washed out by this round. The best teams will advance.

Round 4 has the best teams still alive.

The Semis and Finals have only the elite competitors left.

Backer I started not to write this but since you think Newton sucks I couldn't resist.  I do appreciate your team getting our reserves some playing time and good experience scoring on a 4a Div 1 school. Maybe you didn't see them because I know you left early. We have allowed 26 points in the last 8 games and scored 447.  How much devastation do you want?

Both can make it, if and only if they play their A game and no injuries. All teams left at this point have a shot, small or big, at getting to state. No more lucky team, all teams left have earned their way to this point. Great to see WOS and Newton still playing this late in the playoffs. Take one game at a time and enjoy the ride.

Unleashing devastation on their opponents?? Cmon man; any win at this stage of the playoffs is a helluva win....period!!

I guess when you (BC) get beat by teams like WO-S and Newton, you develop a real dislike for these teams. Especially if you are a larger school (4A-1) and you think your team has turned things around only to find out your team is back to where it was several years ago. Especially when you schedule WO-S and Newton back to back.

The bad news is that things are not going to change next year. WO-S and Newton will be loaded again next year.

I believe Newton will win the state championship. WOS.... I’ve watched Bellville and kept up WOS all season. Bellville lost to a Salado team in a game that shouldn’t have been close. Bellville played terrible and lost in OT. As much as I support Bellville I’m a realist. We weren’t that good of a team this year. WOS has a pretty good defense but their offense honestly isn’t great. I just don’t think they make it to jerry world. I think they lose to Wimberly this week. I hope I’m wrong . Now I’m sure people will get on my case because I think WOS will lose.

I think ya'll should have won that game too. Most people think our run stops next Friday and that doesn't upset me at all.Matter of fact I'm glad we are playing Wimbo rather than Cuero. You are correct our offense want set the world on fire but with our defense they get the job done.Watching the Cuero/Wimbo game I think Cuero had the better team. Both teams made big plays but Wimbo had to make them all night long.Wimbo got a big break on a punt where two defenders collided as they were about to tackle the runner for little gain. That sprang the runner and he went all the way to the Cuero 8 or 10 yrd line.Hence the go ahead score.Cuero had no rush on the qb and he had all the time in the world to throw.Receivers were pretty much open also.I'm thinking we can put pressure on the qb and make him release early and have tighter coverage than Cuero had.Weeks is going to make some throws no doubt,we just have to limit those.Cuero great defense they have had all year just didn't show up.It will be a task for our defense but I'm confident they will once again arise to the occasion.Oh.Don't think for a moment the players don't know what happened in 2005.

Yeah your right. Should be a good game. I hope the Stangs win their 3rd title in a row this year.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
