Interesting Silsbee beats Jasper and LC-M (c'mon now ) last week and leap frogs to #1 but Central won 2 games last week, one of which was to Ozen, who was #1 last week (Central owns TWO wins against them)  and is only #2.  Am I the only one that finds this to be a head scratcher?

How did Silsbee leapfrog? They were #2 last week. Just moved up one spot after Ozen loss. Kind of natural to me and it seems 8 other voters think the same way. In fact, one voter has had Silsbee #1 the last few weeks so that vote would not have changed.

But wins vs. Jasper and LC-M propels you to #1?

I always find head to head to be the most telling.  Silsbee beat Central.  Central beat Ozen (now twice).  I've had these 3 in this order for weeks now...

Yea, I understand what you're seeing, but Ozen was the hottest team in setx prior to Tuesday AND was # 1 in the rankings and took a loss...  That's my point...

And this is the  sake of debate, because I think the rest of the polls are perfect.

Perfect? Then explain why you have Humble and Kingwood Park ranked ahead of CE King the last two weeks when King has beaten them both in the last two weeks. Also, North Shore is undefeated in district and yet you have La Porte ranked ahead of them when LP has lost two games in district to West Brook and PA Memorial. Am I the only one that finds that to be a head scratcher?

completely understand your point and the opposing view.  Just a personal view of mine with polls.  Obviously, they isn't any science to them.  Just opinions ;)

Maybe  I didn't make myself clear, so I'll repeat myself...  I think the above polls are perfect with the exception of what I'm debating.  Has nothing to do with my picks whatsoever... But I'm sure you knew that.

If you are going to question the rankings or a part of the rankings in open forum, then as a voter in these rankings, you should answer questions about your rankings.

I believe I answered your question. Ozen was #1, Silsbee was #2, Ozen lost, Silsbee won. Pretty simple. Oh, and 8 of the 10 voters obviously agrees.

Yes, most if not all the teams in the big school rankings would beat LC-M and Jasper. So what is the point? Who's to say Silsbee wouldn't beat Ozen? You know who they already beat this season. ;)

The biggest head scratcher is in the 3A-Small Private poll. Pollok Central moves from #2 to #9...bumping below Woodville after beating them by 37 last week. Not a knock on Woodville, just doesn't fit.

Silsbee has taken 3 lopsided losses...  Ozen, only 1.  Ozen also reeled off 11 straight wins prior to losing to Central last Tuesday.  During that span, they beat some pretty stiff competition, 6a and 5a.  So who's to say Ozen wouldn't have beat Silsbee?

Point is we will never know. That's why you try not to speculate who would beat who when ranking these teams.

Most of the voters believe Silsbee's resume speaks for itself. It was an easy move up to #1 when they were already #2 in every voters poll except two.(one had them #1, other had them #3)

Just saying that a win Over previous #1 Ozen in the week would hold more weight than wins vs. Jasper or LC-M...

So the question for voters becomes, is the win over Ozen enough for Central to leapfrog Silsbee. Its a good debate.

Not if Silsbee keeps winning. Witch Im pretty sure they will. They will stay #1 ..... I new Silsbee would be back to #1 today in the STATE RANKING'S .They are the only team in the 4A top 5 that hasn't lost a game since tournament season.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
