Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 If they rezone and balance all 3 high schools, we could all be large 5As. That would be ideal. You are correct. GCM would struggle in 6A. Both schools would unless they moved us back into the Pasadena district.with the UIL you have a 50/50 chance of that happening lol Quote

Numbers are different in all rankings. For example:approx enrollment from what i could find. It's more probable that I can find those 22 if I have 1,000 possibilities. When you have 3K kids it's even more possible to find 22 that can play. There are other factors involved, but it comes down to numbers. After that, it's quality over quantity. IMO that's where we find ourselves in Baytown. We have good players at each school and I think percentage wise the larger school has more good players than the others. Quote
John Blutarsky Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) It's not just a matter of numbers but you have to enough atheletes and size. GCM seems to have plenty of athaletes but are lacking in size. I think big ole 77 isn't leaving any food for the rest of the kids to eat, that or it's Michelle Obamas healthier school meals. Maybe all us GCM fans and parents need to pitch in and buy a 55 gallon drum of lard and send it over to the school ASAP. lol By the way, is there anyone here with any insider info about the school districts plans to rezone or not to rezone. Just curious because we live in an area that could be affected. My older son wants to remain a Patriot. Edited September 13, 2015 by John Blutarsky Quote

If and when they do, the district does a good job of allowing the public to be a part of those discussions via public forums and parent meetings. Just make sure the school has the correct contact information for the IRIS alerts. They will inform you about any events through that system. Quote
John Blutarsky Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) Aren't the snapshot numbers taken next month? Would they have to have a plan in front of the UIL by then or by February? I'm wondering if there is already too many kids too get all three schools to 5A numbers. Does anybody have an idea what Sterling and Lee's enrollment is projected to be this year. GCM was already over 2100. Edited September 13, 2015 by John Blutarsky Quote

From my understanding they would need to have a propsed plan in place before February for the UIL.Seems like I heard RSS is at around 2,450. Not sure on Lee.This is what is on the district Web page: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Edited September 13, 2015 by GCMPats2 Quote
John Blutarsky Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 So if Sterling is at 2450 and GCM is at 2164 than Lee needs to be under 1685. They were at 1400+ last year and I believe they're numbers have been dropping so it's possible. I think it will only be for the next two years though as GCM and Sterling are growing too much to remain in 5A. But it would definitely be fun to have all three schools in the same district and would go along way towards getting the community more excited about Baytown football and hopefully get more kids in the programs. Even better if we are in the same district as BH, Dayton, and Crosby. But knowing the UIL we'll probably be shipped to region II or something. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote

John Blutarsky Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 cut the check and it wont happen. There's no money left. We're spending it all on gassing up the busses for the trip to Beaumont and vicinity every week. SFAEAGLES 1 Quote
