I'll go ahead and say it while im online:

Jasper has to manage the timeouts better, they wasted 2 timeouts in the first half that prevented them from being able to score before halftime.

Get your plays in on time.

And lastly: you guys gotta find other weapons, Williams ran the ball far too much, he was cramping up alot but played thru it. Spikes is a speedster, very good player. Just felt like Williams for a long stretch was you guys only offense, good teams gonna plan for that.

Jasper won fairly easily, but Stafford was a worthy opponent.  They held Jasper from making the big plays that Jasper is used to making.

Spartan Offense:  C-    They couldn't throw the ball with any effectiveness.  They had obvious talent at the RB and QB position but Jasper's hard hitting, swarming defense stole the show.

Spartan Defense:  B+   This was a good side.  They were strong.  They were quick.  The really schemed well against Jasper.  They played about as good as they could have against Jasper.

Jasper Offense:  B    They made plenty of first down, but lacked the kill shot most of the night.  The penalties were brutal the whole night.  Jasper seriously needs to work on a few more bubble screens, TE dumps, crossing patterns.  This is one run heavy team.  Working for now..

Jasper Defense:  A   These guys played tough the whole night.  Been a long time since I have seen a secondary as good as this one at Jasper.  The defense line is disruptive.  The linebackers will break your jaw.  Fun group to watch.

Have to give the Spartans credit.  That was a good team Jasper beat.  One wonders how much of a factor the strong wind was to Stafford who appeared to want to open up the passing game, but was unable to do so.

Good luck next weeks Dogs.

You're right. Leaving points on the field in the playoffs will more often than not get you beat. Jasper has been knocked out earlier than expected many times for that reason alone.

Great analysis.

Many fans have worried all year that we have no offensive diversity. If we could develop just a few simple, short route passing plays, it would make the running game lethal. That coupled with our improved defense would have us competing and winning with the best of them. It may be too late to get that going now. It's a shame because this team has even more potential and would love to see it maximized. Hopefully the staff has learned from the game management faux pas.

Jasper probably needed a game like this.  they won, but got their weaknesses exposed perhaps.  On the other hand, the competition is naturally getting tougher each round.  It seems that last night Jasper finally met a team that could match them in speed??

I think without question that Jasper has the tools to diversify.  Now is the time!  They just need to get the ball into Randy Spike/s hands with enough room for him to get started.  Then he can make his own breaks.

Now we are at the stage of the playoffs where the coaches earn their pay.  The successful ones adapt to their next opponent, and institute totally new game plans when necessary.  I think that Jasper has exposed only a small amount of their potential.  I know that Tiger can chunk it, I saw him do it.  It may be time to pull out the bag of tricks!  So far, Jasper has not had to go into the bag.  No need to expose the total package until needed.  We can only hope that is what has happened thus far.

I watched Navasota "edge" Chapel Hill last night.  If Jasper gets by the game next week, they will need all the tricks they can find to handle Navasota.

#88 looks like a hoss but they did not use him much. what is the story on him.

Japer didn't play there best game . But defensively they did held the Spartans to total 112 yards total for the game and only 6 first downs. That's pretty dang stingy in my books.

Totally agree.  In the old days, this would have been a textbook victory.  Obviously it was great defense, which is what we have come to expect from Jasper this year.  Now, it is easy to get spoiled with so many teams scoring so many points.  Count our blessings!

Good defense rarely takes a night off. I'm not saying we have that '82 defense at all, but I don't know if there's a Thurman Thomas out there that can end a great season the way he did. If there is, he might be on our side this time. Randy Spikes is something else!

He is a hoss. Against Splendora I saw him outrun the State 100 meter champion to the end zone after catching one of Tiger's long spirals. As someone posted elsewhere, he has wheels.
