cougar14 Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Below is a list of all-time playoff appearances. How many times has your team been and how are they currently trending? I was trying to see how many team around here had been to the playoffs more consecutive times than the current Crosby streak of 9 years. I saw BH led the area with 37 appearances with Ned a couple behind. Since BH probably won't have much to cheer about next year I figured I would post this so they could do some offseason chest-puffing. Lolhttp://www.texasfootball.com/all-time-playoff-appearances/ Ok you can't put consecutive times then say BH led the area with 37 appearances... Was that 37 "consecutive" appearances? And you know good and well that Dayton's "consecutive" appearances is Double Crosby's Which by the way could have EASILY been the other way around if Crosby would have let Stewart coach instead of running him off. badndn Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Most of BH playoff runs were when they were 1A and 2A... Highland Park has 55, but there should be an asterick in there since most of those were in 4A as a 5A SCHOOL!!!! :P Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
cougar14 Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 *Note for above - Newton actually leads the area with 39 appearances in the smaller divisions. They also lead the area with 20 consecutive playoff appearances. I believe Katy leads the state with 23 in a row, North Shore and Dayton have 20 and 18 consecutive appearances respectively to use as a guage for the local big schools. Quote

badndn Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Some of that consecutive playoff appearences stuff is over-rated now with 4 teams making it and 3 before that for a while. "Making" the playoffs is not what it used to be. Quote

"Making" the playoffs is not what it used to be. I agree with you, that being though, there's still a bunch of teams that struggle to do so as you can see from the lists. I think it's better to look at how your team is trending over the last 5-10 years compared to who's been in your district. It also reflects the coaching quality that has been at you school to a certain extent. Quote
BlackShirts5 Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 It doesnt matter when they did it. They did it. Quote

One thing I have been proud of with Faircloth in his 5 years at PNG is that PNG finish 2nd or better in three of those years and came really close last year as well. Quote
NDNation Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Lumberton and Kelly made the list! Of most consecutive losses . :( Quote
biaplayer Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 interesting PNG and Dayton both at 29. BellBiz30 and prepballfan 2 Quote

cougar14 Posted March 6, 2014 Author Report Posted March 6, 2014 GCM 4 times out of 6 years. Never advanced. Yet. It's going to be hard for them to make it 6 out of 8. We've had a GCM in the district the past two years called Humble and they haven't made it yet either. Good luck to the Pats though, while I hope y'all don't win enough for Calvin Hill to want to stay, I would like to see GCM competitive for my co-workers sake. Quote

Octfeb Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 From what I've seen at SC, that is a pretty accurate analogy. His statement is completely accurate... Did you happen to see them play against Dayton last season? And what does seeing how SC play have to do with Dayton crawling through a window like a thief in the night? Quote
jayhawk Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 Dayton's last playoff appearance was obtained from an unlocked window like a thief in the night. That is true , but once we backed through the door we gave the State runner up a one point win and could of went either way ! Like Arnold says "we'll be back " Dayton will be one more dangerous teams in REG.3 I wish SC was still in our District :) ;) :P BellBiz30 and Mr. Buddy Garrity 2 Quote
