Yes sir BlueDove.  We would probably have less than 100 kids in our whole school (PK3-12) if not for transfers from surrounding communities.    That is the truth.  It has pretty much always been that way but it has increased some since the addition of the high school in th early 2000's.
Thanks coach!!  ;)
Dove- Just so you cant get away with what you are trying to get away with, those transfers come to the school at an early age, well ahead of the time when one has any idea if the young man will be a basketball player or not.  Hence, they develop their own rather than acquiring them after it is well known that they AAU stars or d-1 prospects.  I am a little shocked that you would try to suggest there is anything analogous in the slightest to what Triple A, Yates and Madison do as compared to Mumford.

Surely you are not going to suggest that there is little difference in the manner and timing of how their respective players are "acquired"?

One program happens to be a tad bit more "urban" than the other....Less "republican", if you will..... ::) ::) ::)

Dickie- Only you wants to insert racism into the conversation.  The discussion is how the players are acquired/developed regardless of political persuasion or skin color.  Sorry, but there simply is no comparison and your "pedigree, royalty, and whatever else you wish to claim" has NO BEARING whatsoever on this.

Actually thats not it either...What Dove is talking about is you being OK with one teams method of "acquisition" as you call it, and not ok with the other.  Are you saying there are NO republicans that are black? (i.e. Conde Rice, Colin Powell, etc) or are you saying there are no whites living in the urban areas of the US? Looks like I didn't insert race into this, but YOU did... ;)

Only you are going to believe that it was me that inserted race.  You have done it hundreds of times on this board( and we both know what you are referring to when you say one team is more urban than the other- try harder) and you wont get away with it plus I can argue these things with you ad infinitum so bring it on.  I am just shocked that you think anyone (other than Dove, of course) believes that there is any comparison at all between Mumford and Triple A. ( of course, you know it as well and are trying to make it appear otherwise but your contention has zero credibility.
Where did I say that there are no Republicans that are black.  I didnt, of course,  You did.  Therefore, it was you, once again inserting race.

I'm beginning to think that the urban school is being accused far too unjustly than their rural school counterpart  in this situation. And frankly, there isn't a big gap between the two school's academic and athletic mission.  ;)
Not concerned with the mission.  Mr. Obama's "mission" was to cut the debt in half and have unemployment at 5% by now and have the Muslim world like us better.  Is the urban school not guilty of what is being suggested?  I cant understand why some such strident believers in equity and fairness when it comes to life in general and move in the opposite direction when it comes to public school athletics.

After thinking about this and reading the posts, I think that where I have some issues about AAA Academy is that is has the appearance that this team was put together more like a "select" team would be put together than how a traditional inner city public school would be put together (I have read the inferences that Yates is a "recruited" program while being a public school).  I whole heartedly support the academic mission of the school and would like to see the results of its academic progress.  In the end, that is much more important but that wouldn't generate 2 posts on this board in a seperate thread titled academics at AAA Academy!  Sports is king and will always trump academics!

AAA won State within the rules of UIL, period. Just as Mumford reached State, within the rules. I don't see a huge difference in either programs. yes, AAA has a larger coverage. But YES Prep out of Houston and many other inner city charter schools have the same area coverage and CAN'T COMPETE at a high level.
Those who, as you say, can't compete" probably cannot because they adhere to the rules and did not organize for the sake of basketball proficiency.

I did not see anything in Mumfords policies about participate in collegiate sports; junior college, NAIA or NCAA Division athletics

From Triple AAA Academy--- Triple A Academy is a high school division/campus of FOCUS Academies that provides academic and athletic development for the student that desires to participate in collegiate sports; junior college, NAIA or NCAA Divisions

Mumford ISD The mission of the Texas public education system is to ensure that all Texas children have access to a quality education that enables them to achieve their full potential and fully participate now and in the future in the social, economic, and educational opportunities in our state and nation.  That mission is grounded on the conviction that a general diffusion of knowledge is essential for the welfare of Texas and for the preservation of the liberties and rights of Texas citizens.  It is further grounded on the conviction that a successful public education system is directly related to a strong, dedicated, and supportive family and that parental involvement in the school is essential for the maximum educational achievement of a child.  The objectives of public education are:
OBJECTIVE 1:  Parents will be full partners with educators in the education of their children.
OBJECTIVE 2:  Students will be encouraged and challenged to meet their full educational potential.
OBJECTIVE 3:  Through enhanced dropout prevention efforts, all students will remain in school until they obtain a diploma.
OBJECTIVE 4:  A well-balanced and appropriate curriculum will be provided to all students.
OBJECTIVE 5:  Educators will prepare students to be thoughtful, active citizens who have an appreciation for the basic values of our state and national heritage and who can understand and productively function in a free enterprise society.
OBJECTIVE 6:  Qualified and highly effective personnel will be recruited, developed, and retained.
OBJECTIVE 7:  Texas students will demonstrate exemplary performance in comparison to national and international standards.
OBJECTIVE 8:  School campuses will maintain a safe and disciplined environment conducive to student learning.
OBJECTIVE 9:  Educators will keep abreast of the development of creative and innovative techniques in instruction and administration using those techniques as appropriate to improve student learning.
OBJECTIVE 10:  Technology will be implemented and used to increase the effectiveness of student learning, instructional management, staff development, and administration.
The academic goals of public education are to serve as a foundation for a well-balanced and appropriate education.  The students in the public education system will demonstrate exemplary performance in:
GOAL 1:  The reading and writing of the English language.
GOAL 2:  The understanding of mathematics.
GOAL 3:  The understanding of science.
GOAL 4:  The understanding of social studies.

So everyone that booed was unknowledgable?  Why has there never been an "absence of knowledge" before at the tournament.  When Mr. Obama won the election, you said the people had spoken.  Looks to me like they also made a statement at the tourney.  By the way, if you truly believe in "not throwing stones" it looks somewhat hypocritical to declare a goodly portion of the basketball fans at the state tourney as "unknowledgable.
