  1. Hey gusher I am not miscontructing anything or taking anything out of context..You said it and you need to stick by what you said.. Dont get on here and say something and then try to blame anyone else but your self.. Why you on here bashing WOS people?.Talking about what they do..They cant say anything? The time has come to back up what yall have been saying... Dont bring other people into what you and others have been saying. The time has coem to back up all the talk!!!! I believe it went "get the glass slippers out, Lumberton is coming to raid the castle".. YOU said that, not ME!!
  2. Smack talk is supposed to be in the School Pride forum toward the bottom. No one who runs this site favors one team over another. We support all the kids, coaches and all the teams in the area.
  3. As long as you don't root for a team in Sout East Texas that I swore not to talk about (as much), I am ok with anything you say or support..... So which Dixie Chick do you have the hots for? Don't say the fat one with a big mouth..... GO DAYTON!
  4. Ive never seen a team go 0-10 and trash talk as much as this.
  5. Lumberton finally seems to be heading in the right direction. They have a coach that is a proven winner and cares about his boys. The community is showing more support than ever before. Moral and confidence is in the air in the city of Lumberton!!!!!! To all the individuals and teams in southeast texas 4A district, trash talk and overlooking the Lumberton Raiders may result in you having to eat a rare dish not normally seen on a menu........... CROW!!!! GO LUMBERTON RAIDERS!!!!!!!
  6. Yes scrimages don't mean much but then again they do. The confidence that this Lumberton team has gained by beating HF,BH, and also Silsbee will carry into the season. Didn't Silsbee beat Nederland and we beat Silsbee? Not trying to talk smack because Nederland has ALWAYS been good and we are just starting to turn around. Best of luck to everyone in 22-4A this year!
  7. close but u got ur teams mixed up Champion "Slow start and a slow finish for L-town! I dont see how you can say Silsbee will have a slow start.... The Tigers have beaten both teams they scrumed up with and we are not talking about BH or HF!!!!!!!!!!" what teams do we need to talk about before theres some respect shown?
  8. There is a lot of crying on this board. If you don't like what's being said, don't read it. You have to remember that about 95% of talk on this board is just a persons opinion. (There are a few that speak the truth and have actual facts.) Don't let things get to you.
  9. OR any A for that fact. How can anyone from Lumberton even talk about Silsbee in a negative way? The best season L-town ever had was 8-2 and they didnt make the playoffs 1995 i think!
  10. I'm not arguring KJB I like good sports talk and If I sounded that way I do apologize, because only the district games are the one's that really matter.
  11. Now please to do a favor all you BH haters stay off of this one. Dont say we deserve it from all the trash talk. Cause only a few of us trash talk. I think BH will take it. It wont be easy but it will be a time to see if the coaches adjusted the weakness they seen in the first 2 games which they have been known to be good at adjusted players and positions in the past
  12. I have talked to many Vidor fans and almost all are very enjoyable to talk to, but like was said there are a few in every community that will even get the home side riled up....I think I was banned from that board...but I do enjoy reading and learning about Vidor thru the people we have on this board thanks Vidor fans
  13. DP#1 Fan you were not even in the conversation so stop starting crap! I fell both school agreed to scrimmage each other because they do not play untill the second to last district game and both teams will be better by then. The sad part is you have nothing better to do but sit on a chat board and try to re-live your high school career. (If you had one) Please unless you have a intelligent point just let the adults talk and stay in your room like all good little kids are told to do!!!!!!!!
  14. WOS can talk crap. BC, however, has no room to talk. BH has alot of work to do and I am sure the coaches will be working overtime to fix them. They are weaker in the line than anyone thought (Rainey going down before the season didn't help). The secondary will only be weak until district starts I'm sure. Those kids will get better or we will have two way players I would imagine. My guess is that the team will be solid by district. The problems, I hope, are fixable. So don't be licking your chops just yet.
  15. Alright big deal - we will do like the coaches always tell the boys - talk with your actions not your mouth so we will see the outcomes when we get to district. Now lets talk about week 0. Predictions for me are: Orangefield over Buna Anahuac over HJ Tarkington over Hardin East Chambers over Shepard Warren over Huntington Deweyville over Cathedral Kountze over High Island Agree or disagree?
  16. You can really tell by your stupidity that you are from deweyville. Anyone with a brain would realize that you cant get 28 or 7 points without special teams not to mention the fact that buna scored twice. I think that if yall would have played an actual quarter like buna wanted then buna would have been on top. im not just going to talk without a point so here is why i say that. First of all only twice was buna stopped the whole game offensively and defensivly buna was missing 3 three year starters ,but like i said obviously you werent at the game and if you were you were on the sidelines!! are you a Waterboy?? i mean come on its pretty ridiculous and i think that all people like you are doin is making buna more angry and ready for the real deal that is only 10 weeks away
  17. Thanks.....I was a little concerned about the team until I heard some good things about the scrimmage last Friday....of course you know or heard we can be a little critical of our Coogs at times...but I think this will be a good contest.....notables are the receivers.... the Coogs have a standout basketball player turned receiver who made some great catches and a speedy transfer from Converse Judson at receiver....the line is huge but the running game seemed shakey at times as well as the QB timing...but hey it was a scrimmage......Coogs have three good backs....and are running a spread option...ala WVU and UT......Oh I will keep my smack talk to a minimum...... 18. yea you are right God just blesses some cities with good athletes.. Since that is the mentally of the person who I am talking too then it is no use of continuing to talk to you..
  19. When it comes to teaching and football, teaching SHOULD rank higher. However you can whine all you want about the salaries but right or wrong your fighting a losing battle. Because here in Texas we are High School Football. Besides how many people visit a forum year round to talk about teaching.
  20. The state or federal government could care less the state championships, district titles, or hours a coach puts into a year. The schools are not there for sports, they are there for education. Whereas I do agree athletics are an important part of helping kids to become better citizens I do not agree that they are worth more than teachers. We predominantly talk about high school sports. Prior to a kid coming to high school they have 8-9 years in a classroom without organized sports. Are those formative teachers worth less than an individual who coaches a few months of the year? I'm talking head coach such as football. Assistant coaches usually do not make the "big" bucks. Look at Port Arthur....do more folks complain because they do not go far athletically or do they complain due to the school not performing academically? Whereas I understand a coach feeling pressure to win, the entire school feels pressure to succeed with TAKS. Whether standardized testing is beneficial is debatable, but it is the reality faced.
  21. Most teams that go 0-10 the previous year stay quiet until they have actually done something! Its kind of like whoopin and hollering about the playoffs when you've never been in 40 years of existence! Walk the walk first and then maybe you can talk the talk.
  22. Jim Bouton forms league to play with 19th Century rules Jim Bouton, right, chairman and CEO of the Vintage Base Ball Federation (VBBF), chat with federation team players Matt "Crazy Legs" March, left, of the Bristol Barnstormers from Bristol, Conn., and David "Fleetwood" Chambers of the Pittsfield Hillies from Pittsfield, Mass., at a press conference in New York, Thursday August, 24, 2006. Bouton, a former Yankee pitcher, announced plans to increase the number of teams playing vintage Baseball using 19th century rules and manners, with an invitation to amateur Baseball and softball teams to join the VBBF Deadball era not dead (by RONALD BLUM, AP Baseball Writer) NEW YORK (AP) -- Talk about turning back the clock. Former Major League pitcher Jim Bouton announced Thursday the launch of a league that will play by 19th century rules: The Vintage Base Ball Federation. Yup, back then Baseball was two words. It will be six balls for a walk, and a foul ball won't count as a strike -- unless it's caught, in which case the batter will be out. A foul ball caught on a bounce counts for an out, and a hit batter is only a ball, with no base awarded. Gloves will be tiny, bats will be thick and the ball -- that's right, one ball will be used per game unless it falls apart or is lost -- will be dead. There aren't any pitcher's mounds, and there's no such thing as a balk on pickoff attempts. In a mixture of sport and theater, umpires must be addressed as "sir." Fans -- called "cranks" -- will be encouraged to wear period costumes, so ladies get out those flowered hats and gentlemen doff your straw boaters. Chris Moran, who plays for the Hartford Senators, said fans look at these games the same way as the spectators viewed old-time ballplayers in the movie Field of Dreams. "Where did these guys come from?" he said was the reaction. Teams will play about a dozen games during the season. A six-team, double-elimination Vintage World Series is planned for Aug. 15-19 next summer at a site that hasn't been determined. "The game the way it was meant to be played," Bouton said during a news conference at Delmonico's, a restaurant that opened in 1836. "No batting gloves, helmets, wristbands, elbow pads, shin guards, sunglasses. No arguing with the umpire. No stepping out of the batter's box. No charging the pitcher or posing at home plate. No curtain-calling, chest-thumping or high-fiving. Just Baseball." There will be some allowances for modern times, such as protective gear inside uniforms for catchers and lining under the short-billed caps when players bat. There will be relief pitchers, and uniforms will have polyester, because flannel isn't durable enough. "A night game is not forbidden, even though it's pushing the envelope," said Greg Martin, the VBBF vice president and owner of a company that produces vintage gear. While the Hartford Senators have a team spittoon, gambling will be prohibited -- 19th century Baseball was marked by alleged fixed games. "The 1880s and '90s were characterized by very rough play and ill-mannered conduct toward umpires and opponents and spectators," said John Thorn, a board member who serves on the 19th Century research committee of the Society for American Baseball Research. Wearing a brown derby and a vest, Bouton said Vintage Base Ball already was played by 225 teams in 32 states. In 2004, ESPN Classic televised a vintage game between the Hartford Senators and the Pittsfield Hillies at Wahconah Park. The rules will be a mixture of those in use from 1860-90, with an emphasis on the 1880s. The ball will have seams in the lemon-peel style, which was replaced by the current seam pattern designed by Albert Spalding, adopted by the major leagues in 1877. Pitching will be overhand, and games will average about 2 hours, 15 minutes. Before each plate appearance, a batter will declare his "desired strike zone preference" -- belt to knee or belt to armpits. If the umpire misses a call because his view is blocked, a team captain can ask for a "gentleman's ruling," in which players involved in the play are to truthfully say what occurred. If a dispute remains, the umpire may ask the cranks for their opinion. "I'm intrigued by the concept of people playing Baseball for fun," said former Baseball commissioner Fay Vincent, a member of the VBBF board. "Someone said this will be an effort where the strike will be something that goes over the plate and doesn't involve a labor dispute." Because catcher's gloves are tiny and don't have much padding, most pitchers throw about 70 mph to avoid passed balls. "The pitching game is less a power game and it's more a skill game: changing speeds, moving the ball around, deception," Bouton said. It's certainly different than 21st century Baseball. "What irks me about the modern game is the enlarging ballplayers and shrinking ballparks," Thorn said. "A home run at one point in Baseball's history actually involved a run -- running around the bases. There weren't very many home runs hit out of the park where you could stand at home plate, watch the thing soaring over the fence, cast a menacing glance at the opposing dugout and then take your time around the bases." 23. I guess I do not understand this kind of talk. #1 it was the 1st scrimmage...a controlled scrimmage at that #2 Silsbee is supposed to be good this year. Is Silsbee not supposed to beat Nederland on occassion?
  24. Gilmer 49 Jasper 47 2004 Championship Game. You know the story. Gilmer up big in first half. Jasper pulls within 2. Goes for two point conversion. Close play (he was in) ruled down. Gilmer Wins. Talk about heartbreaking.
  25. LOL- i hated 'em which is why I loved wrestling at the time. I also hated the Horsemen, loved Sting. I hated the nWo but loved anybody who would stand up to them. The Horsemen back in the 80's and early 90's were the best with Flair, Tully, Arn, Ole, Luger, Windham. I also liked Magnum TA and Nikita Koloff (remember them?) To me, Hogan was so much more fun as a bad guy because that guy can talk some trash.
