  1. I'll take the Tribe to control the game on the ground and grind out a 28-10 win. Perhaps Vidor scores first, but the NDN ground game should be too much to overcome.
  2. Didn't they look a lot like the Houston Oilers about 5 years ago, with the interlocking LR to go with Columbia Blue tops and white pants?
  3. This game is huge to Lumberton. This appears on paper to be a game they should win. Good teams and good programs take care of business when they are supposed to. Tonight Lumberton is supposed to win. I don't mean a blowout win. I don't think Lumberton has the horses to blow people out, but if they have the talent that it takes to make the playoffs, this is a game they have to win, no slip ups. That said I think tonight game in Lumberton will be a barn burner.
  4. PNG/Katy did play a doubleheader that day in the 'Dome. Katy played the early game, and PNG was later that night. That game was the only time I've had to sit in the end zone in the Rainbow section for a HS playoff game. The atmosphere was something else.
  5. The PNG unis with the tribal markings were pretty cool. I also remember when the back said "Big Purple Pride" instead of the players name. I think I'm remembering right (early '90s) Feel free to correct.
  6. There nothing like a triple header in the 'Dome. It didn't matter who you were going to watch it was going to be fun. Rice Stadium has to be my new favorite, and Stallworth in Baytown has made some pretty good improvements.
  7. Any idea when the schedule will be released. I know they are @ Rice on 4/8/08, but thats all I know. Should make for some busy weeks with the season being pushed back to end of February.
  8. I thought James Davis left the team for personal reasons, not b/c of graduation? Wasn't he a junior last year?
  9. McNeese has been raiding this area for quite a while (don't most Newton kids go there?) A lot of locals with some other kids from wherever that just want to play will work. I don't think we will be able to get a "name" coach to come in and start the program, hopefully I am wrong about that. I think Craig Stump will be target #1.
  10. My favorite underdog has always been Southeastern Louisiana. ;D
  11. Would it be too much to ask for a new scoreboard. A little more up to date with maybe player scoring on it. The one up there is classic, but can we upgrade a tad. The baseball cards upgraded, perhaps its time for the hoops team to follow suit.
  12. A check of the USL records shows Bo Lamar scored 3493 from 1970-1973 which would rank him 2nd behind Pistol Pete. What is the story behind Bo Lamar. My dad said he was awesome to watch. He played in the ABA and did pretty well but does anyone know if he got hurt? He only played a couple of seasons. Also the USL Media Guide says that he played in the college and university division. I bet the college division results don't allow him to qualify.
  13. Ok, then they changed it. For the 10+ years they listed it on or around the page where the teams preview was located. I would have thougt it would have been listed by Beaumont Central since French closed the following year, but if you have access you know better than me. I will post if I come across something.
  14. You can probably find it in Dave Campbell's Texas Football 1985 Year Book. Its the one with Jim Wacker on it. I actually think this one is at home in my garage. I will look today and see if I can find it, but I make no promises. ;D
  15. Nice. First problem this weekend. I remember when PNG played Jacksonville a few years ago and the scoreboard said "Indians" vs. "Indians" This weekend its the Bulldogs vs. Bulldogs...will Nederland do the same? ;D
  16. Anyone have pics of the new Nederland scoreboard? I drove past it the other day, but that didn't do it justice. Just wondering if anyone had anything?
  17. With Switzer recruiting improves drastically based on his name alone. I would find it odd that he would coach I-AA, and I don't think any of us realistic expect LU to go D-1 in football from the start. There is a hotbed for recruiting in a 100 mile radius so the talent his HERE.
  18. I wonder if they have given it the recruiting issue that much thought. My guess is they are worrying about the funding not the players. I seem to remember an article questioning whether or not Craig Stump would be interested in starting the program as the head coach. Perhaps they have sent out "feelers" on all this stuff.
  19. I wish them the best of luck "trying" to bring football back. Who would be your "big" name game. Rice just got a new AD and he is trying to keep Rice out of Reliant unless they can get 6 other on-campus home games, UH won't come in. UH wouldn't even answer the phone, neither would SMU. I don't think Rice ever game here when they played LU at that was the only game of the year they won. UNT is raising the bar with Todd Dodge, so their out. Who really could be the big draw here ULL? I don't see them traveling to McNeese to play a trap game. Maybe some big time corporate sponsor could cut LU a check for a million and then alumni fund raising could come up with some. Even then, the arguement will be made by people to "spruce" up Vincent-Beck. This is wishful thinking. It was a mistake to cut it in the '80's, but the start-up costs may be too much to overcome. You ask me if I'd rather go to Rice game or an LU game. Can I have both? One in the afternoon, and one at night. It would be nice!! ;D
  20. The Owls were anemic today at the plate. It was very disappointing. Congrats to UNC for forcing a deciding game, lets hope the Owl bats wake up.
  21. 'Eaters win 8-7 in 10. What a game. I think they are officially the Cinderella. UNC vs. Rice at 1:00 today. Hopefully the Owls can stay hot at the plate. The game in available at [Hidden Content]
  22. It took me a little while to remember Pat Casey last year during the Rice/OSU game. He was one of everyone's favorite Gators.
