  1. I remember that. SWTSU also went deep in Lubbock in the late 90's when it was still a 6 team Regional, just wondering if any SLC had made a run to Omaha.
  2. When was the last time a SLC school came out of the Regionals? I know it hasn't happened since the current format was put in place. SWTSU went pretty deep about 10 years ago at the Lubbock Regional.
  3. Takes berries to make that pick. That would be really great for a program in their second season of D-1 ball. The thing is they have a pretty good chances, and have played UTSA close this season.
  4. I'll take McNeese to piece it all together and come out of Natchitoches with the gold.
  5. IF the pitching holds up. The offense is there. BTW - UT Regional is at Round Rock, and Supers is at Corpus Christi if they win in the first round. Of course my favorite to take it is Rice, and I would love to see Rice/UT in a 3-gamer for it all. My sleeper is San Diego....their pitching is just nasty.
  6. So NSU is still the host, even though they did not qualify? I thought that was a requirement from a couple of years ago?
  7. Lets not jinx them. Seems like the #1 overall seed usually doesn't make it to Omaha. ;D
  8. Owls win their 17th in a row and 25 of 26 rallying from a 2-1 defecit with a 3-run 6th inning. Cole St. Clair picked the save, breaking the all-time saves record at Rice with 18. Final game of the series is set for tomorrow at 2pm @ Rice.
  9. Freshman Ryan Berry pitched 6-1/3 innings for the win (9-2). Tyler Henley and Diego Seastrunk each had 3 hits as the Owls won for the 16th straight time and 24th time in 25 games. Two things I noticed in this game.....the Owl bats are really starting to wake up at the right time. Memphis is also a pretty darn good team. They can hit and if they get any pitching they will be a dangerous team come Regional time. [Hidden Content]
  10. Kyle Russell can mash. I saw them in Houston against Rice this year and with a flip of his wrist he hit an opposite field homerun.
  11. Owls used a 6 run 6th to blow open a close game and win their 14th in a row and 23rd out of their last 24. [Hidden Content] This group really seems to be playing well at the right time, and could be primed to make a run deep into the postseason.
  12. There are definately some studs in the barn for next season, but The Roc will have to have them firing on all cylinders to win it. It is theirs for the taking.
  13. Ags need a sweep to clinch a national seed, 2 out of 3 may not be enough. Next two in Austin. Big series of the Ags, let hope they come through and the state of Texas can get 3 of the Top 8 National seeds in the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
  14. So its longer than the international 20-6. and much shorter than the half a mile for the NBA (23-9). Why the extra 3 inches over the international game?
  15. Didn't Magic Johnson once say that Mike Olliver was the one of the best shooters he ever played against....and Magic beat Bird to win a title.
  16. Lots of hype last year..even I few preseason picks to finish 1st or 2nd in the SLC East were projected. I think the Cards ended last year on a strong note winning the Quarterfinal game against SHSU. I good group and a solid returning core should make them a league favorite, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. I do think this program has made a great choice in their coach, and he will lead them to be a top SLC program year in and year out.
  17. This little write up on Colin Delome from Baseball America Website [Hidden Content] Scouting Report Collin DeLome, of, Lamar Lamar has appeared in three regionals in the last five years, and the Cardinals appear poised to make another run at regionals this season in the crowded Southland Conference race. After taking two of three from Texas State last weekend, Lamar improved to 16-5 in the conference, opening up a 3 1/2 game lead over McNeese State in the East Division. Lamar has a .307 team batting average, and the team has different ways to score, from on-base machine Erik Kanaby (.414/.507/.481) to slugging catcher/DH Michael Ambort (.379/.428/.650). But scouts agree the team's top player is junior outfielder Collin DeLome (.340/.404/.613), the reigning conference player of the year. We caught up with a coach who's seen plenty of DeLome in his career and got this report: "He's the best player in the league easy, and it sounds like he's going to go in the second or third round. He was a high school shortstop and he's got some athletic ability, and Jim Gilligan and the guys at Lamar have done a good job with him, which is no surprise because they are a real solid staff. They moved him to the outfield when he got there, and his bat really has come alive. He's got hitting ability and some real power, and he is at full speed in two steps. He runs well, he's got bat speed--he's a good offensive player. He's fine in the outfield. He's just a complete player."
  18. I would imagine getting smashed with a chair twice a week (that we see on TV), and then again three or four more time a week we don't can take its toll on a person even if they are in the best shape of any athlete around. With more hardcore (tables, ladders, and chairs) and less "wrestling" injuries are more and more frequent.
  19. Owls knock the rust off from a 9 day layoff and extend their winning streak to 11 win a workman like win against Texas St. After falling behing 2-0 in the bottom of the 3rd Rice rallied for 5-runs off BJ Boening (0-3)(he was born in BMT btw). Matt Langwell worked 5 innings of 2 hit relieve, allowing 1run for the win (5-1). H-F native Phillip Lynch pitched the 9th for the Bobcats. After allowing a leadoff walk he followed it with a SO, and a 6-4-3 DP ball end the inning. Both teams return to conference play this weekend, Texas State (32-18) hosts McNeese while Rice (37-11) will entertain Tulane. ------------------------------------------- Texas State......... 011 100 100 - 4 9 1 Rice Owls.............005 001 00X - 6 12 2 ------------------------------------------
  20. Owls look to knock the rust off from final and avenge their early season loss to the Bobcats tonight at Reckling. Here's to finishing the season strong and wrapping up a National Seed.
  21. I forgot about Stunning Steve Austin ;D :-[ :-\
  22. Reminds me of the TV Show "The Fall Guy"
  23. Other Blade Runner was Rock...not to be confused with The Rock, but I had no idea that was UW.
