Barbers Hill Rolls Over Forest Brook, 35-13
Barbers Hill got off on the right foot in district play by defeating Forest Brook 35-13 in the opening game of District 21-4AAAA. The Eagles built a 35-0 lead through 3 quarters before Forest Brook tallied their 2 scores late in the game. Barbers Hill is now 4-0 on the year and will travel to Crosby next Friday.
The Eagles scored 22 of their points in the first half. Quarterback Blake Patton put the Eagle up 6-0 on a 3 yard run. The extra point was missed. BH extend the lead to 12-0 Blake Patton once again scored on a keeper this time from 6 yards away. The Eagles went for 2 but again the conversion failed. Moments later, Barbers Hill increased their lead when Patton connected with Jared Smith for 7 yard TD pass. Nick Coggin added the extra point.
Forest Brook made a valiant attempt to get some points before the half as they drove to the BH 8. But the Eagles stripped the ball from the FB runner to end the threat. Barbers Hill then took the ball moved it into field goal range for Coggin. Coggin then converted on the first of 3 field goals on the night. The kick was good from 37 yards out to give BH the 22-0 half time lead.
The Eagles recovered an early Jaguar fumble to begin the 3rd period. On the first play after the fumble, Blake Patton connnected with Jared Smith for a 12 yard touchdown pass. Coggin once again converted the extra point as BH now lead 29-0. Before the 3rd period came to a close, Coggin would have a night to remember. About midway through the quarter, Coggin kicked his second field goal. This one was 35 yards out. And then with just under three minutes left, Nick made his third field goal when he booted the kick through the uprights from 33 yards away.
Forest Brook made sure they were not shut out when they 2 scored twice with less then 5 minutes left in the game. The first score came a 2 yard run while the last touchdown came with just 15 second left in the game. The point after was good in the first TD but sailed wide right on the second score.
