  1. A good case can be made for all three for MVP. It really would not bother me if in fact they were all the MVP.
  2. This was a great atmosphere no doubt. Great crowds on both sides. The key to this game was the second quarter. KK Little came out on fire the first quarter, then missed most of the second with an injury. If she plays the second, the outcome of this game may have been different. OF just had to many turnovers and missed to many easy shots. I'm glad OF has some off time. We have some nagging injuries we need to get over. OF and HJ are two of the best teams in Region 3 no doubt about that. Lets hope we meet up again down the road. Best of luck to OF, HJ and Silsbee in the playoffs. Oh yeah, nice talking with you Jdad.
  3. No. 6 Hawks outlast Orangefield Gabe Pruett The Orange Leader ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Bobcats knew the last three games on the schedule would be tough and Tuesday was certainly that. The Bobcats came close to knocking off the No. 6 Hardin-Jefferson Hawks in Bobcats Gym yet coming close only means more big games down the stretch. The Hawks came away with a 41-39 victory to stay in a first-place tie in District 21-3A with a 11-1 mark and they are 29-4 overall. Orangefield (20-8, 8-4) remains in a third-place tie with Jasper (8-4) who fell to Silsbee, 98-45, on Tuesday. The Bobcats now face the Tigers at home Friday before traveling to face Jasper next Tuesday in a game that could mean the Bobcats’ season. “This district never lets up,†Orangefield Coach Rea Wrinkle said. “ We have to come ready to play the rest of the season. We have already had two close games with Silsbee this season and we expect another. Then we will have to win in Jasper next Friday.†Silsbee and Orangefield have already played two classics this season with the Tigers getting the best in both games. Silsbee first downed Orangefield downed the Bobcats 50-49 in the championship of the Orangefield Tournament and then the Tigers won 48-46 in the first round of the district loop in Tigers Gym. As for as Tuesday’s game with H-J, the Bobcats drew within 40-39 with 10.9 remaining on the clock. Hardin-Jefferson’s Jon Michael Fontenot then made the front-end of a one-and-one before sophomore Zach Hayes grabbed a rebound. After an Orangefield time-out, Hayes was not able to come down with a shot and Jared Helton also missed off a rebound attempt to tie the game as the clock expired. Helton led the Bobcats with 11 points to go with three steals while Tyler Angelle added 10 points. Jeremy Granger finished with seven points and nine rebounds while Hayes was limited to six points and eight boards. The Hawks led 34-28 heading into the fourth and then took a 36-28 lead as Jacob Ricossa opened the frame’s scoring with a jumper. Orangefield then went on a 6-0 run with Hayes score four points in the run as the Bobcats closed to within 36-34. Colby Sundgren then buried a shot for H-J before Angelle busted a three-pointer making it 38-37 Hawks with 3:40 left on the clock. The two teams then did not score again until Jarvis Brown, who finished with 18 points, hit two free throws with 27.9 left on the clock to make it 40-37 Hawks. “The difference in the game was us not containing Jarvis,†Wrinkle said. “He is their best player on the court and mainly in the first half we allowed him to get some easy shots.†Scoring was hard to find in the first half as the Hawks led just 10-5 after the first period. Angelle had all five points for the Bobcats in the first period. Orangefield then outscored Hardin-Jefferson 14-13 in the second as the Hawks led 23-19 at the break. Action then slowed down again in the third. The Hawks outscored the Bobcats 11-9 in the frame. Orangefield was able to close to within 25-23 before Brown drained a three-pointer. Helton then buried a three making it 27-26 Hardin-Jefferson. The Hawks went on a 6-3 to end the third and led 34-28 heading into fourth. “Hardin-Jefferson is a great program,†Wrinkle said. “We played them great for a half at their place so I told the team tonight we had to play a full game. We did that tonight and just came up short. We were down by eight and never backed down. We played with a lot of heart.â€
  4. Don't get your hopes up! Since all they usually show are highlights from one girls game, my bet is it will be Central/Ozen.
  5. I agree, but I think BC is in the same position as OF. There are alot of new homes being built, but I think the people building those homes have younger kids. Not many high school kids moving in. Look for BC and OF to grow alot over the next 10 years.
  6. 1. Orangefield 2. Hardin Jefferson 3. Central 4. Barbers Hill 5. Kountze 6. Ozen 7. Silsbee 8. Woodville 9. Kelly 10. Memorial 11. Dayton 12. Lumberton 13. Hamshire Fannett 14. East Chambers 15. Newton
  7. 2006 2008 Bridge City............. 754.4 707 Hamshire-Fannett.... 581 568 Orangefield............. 473 521 Silsbee................... 827 844 Hardin-Jefferson....... 706 662 West Orange-Stark.... 775 691 So Orangefield and Silsbee are the only two schools to grow in enrollment. Look for OF to continue to grow. They may be closer to 600 at next realignment.
  8. Congrats Lady Bobcats on your first outright district championship since 1992. I have really enjoyed watching this team get better with each game. Coach Jost has done a tremendous job this season. The team has really grown since the first of the season. We've still got some unfinished business to take care of though. Go get after those Lady Hawks on Tuesday and lets remain perfect in district!!!
  9. I was hard on some Orangefield fans a few weeks back, but let me tell you how proud I was of them tonight. When the WOS girls first came out to warmup, not one fan was on the WOS side. The Orangefield fans applauded for them when the took the court. Nice sign of sportsmanship by our fans. I was happy to see a few fans from WOS show up before the game started. I will give them this, their coach did not give up. He was coaching those girls until the last buzzer.
  10. What does HF and HJ have coming back. I know BC has about the whole team back. WOS is the favorite (what else is new), followed by Silsbee in my book. The third spot is up for grabs!!
  11. Tentative Orangefield Pre-district schedule: East Chambers Buna Liberty Tarkington Newton
  12. That was a game that I looked forward to on WOS schedule. Guess they were tired of getting beat by a 3A school. ;D
  13. I like the six team district better than the eight. Gives us smaller schools a better chance to get into the playoffs.
  14. What happened to Bay City?
  15. Adrienne Minor - Beaumont Ozen 31 points vs LCM 15 points vs Nederland Congrats Adrienne!!
  16. You got that right. I've always been told to respect people my grandparents age!!
  17. LOL, we could have used you over at HF tonight!! Congrats Lady Hawks on the win!!
  18. You obviously have not watched much basketball this year have you!!!
  19. Thats funny stuff crushcoach but you are correct. The Orangedfield people are going to let me have it now. I can already hear the "old" jokes coming. They are blasting me right now on the Orangefield website. Sorry, Couldn't resist it. I can remember seeing you quite often in High School, the only bad thing was I was looking at your back most of the time. How's that, were you sitting in the stands behind him while he was riding the bench?
  20. This is for player of the week. How did she do on Tuesday?
  21. Just curious, but is the Montagne attendance record the Lady Cards vs LSU game?
