1. I admit it....I have been watching baseball.  Is it just my eyes getting bad or.....Does SF Giants out fielder, Cody Ross look like a younger version of Shake and Bake.  Check it out...Same hairstyle and all.  I'm just sayin !
2. Hard work and dedication pays off again.  Super Kid with super talent. Does everything full speed. Congrats Katy Jo.
3. Shannon earned a scholarship to the school she wanted to attend.  It really shows what hard work, dedication, and proper exposure can do for a player.  A special kid with special talent.  I love to see dreams come true.  Super, Super, player and family.  Congratulations !  WLYS
4. McNeese is getting a Fine Player, A Fine Student, A Fine young lady, and a Fine Family....What more could any University want ?  Congrats Ashley,  we all look forward to following your career.  You earned it.
5. There were a lot of teams in Houston that were not involved in the " Qualifying" part of the tournament.    They were invited to participate in the National Premier last year sometime and did not have to qualify.....they played in the round robin division of the tournament.  There were a lot of teams and a decent number of college coaches in attendance.
6. Let me be the first to say ....( what we are all Thinking ) ! It sounds like you have a really awsome team,  Going to the national tournament in Colorado and all, and it also appears that there is a big ol' CONGRATULATIONS !!!  due for winning that Fun in the Sun Tournament.  16U is a very important age group for gaining college exposure and it sure looks like your team is on their way.  Good Luck and Best Wishes from all of us here on SETXsports.com. ..... I hope I am not speaking out of turn.....
7. This could be really, REALLY, good !
8. Well said CC but you and I both know that when you run a youth sports organization, ( you have done it, and so have I ),  you are ultimately responsible for explaining to all of your coaches where to draw the line.  I am not picking on OOC, I feel this is true for all youth sports organizations.  It is well known that your actions as a coach could reflect posotively or negatively on the whole organization.  That was one of the points I was trying to make.  It's time we held organizations and coaches responsible for the things that are said and done.  Anyone who is "in it for the kids" would agree.  Sincerely
9. ...........Just my opinion............. I don't know "Darren" but I have seen his type before. I don't know much about the OOC organization  but I would rather not repeat what I have been told. I Do, However,  know the parents involved. I am not great friends with them but our older daughters have played together for about a year. They have six kids and are VERY commited and dedicated to the activities that their children participate in.  They have a long drive to all of the team events and practices and their kids never miss an outing.  They have older children and a lot of experience with the correct way that a softball player and team should be handled.  Their children are very focused, hard working, and gifted. As a parent you spend a lot of time and money trying to prepare you child for the future.  In the competitive world of softball scholarships,  "there is no time to waste".  Verbal commitments begin the summer after your Freshman year in High School.  The player mentioned is a super kid and a super player. She will not have a problem finding a new team and a better situation.  The parents did the right thing. If you are not happy with the instruction or the team....then move on !  Each parent has to decide what is best for their own specific needs.  "Darren" needs to practice what he preaches. Who would want their daughter to play for a coach that makes the kind of comments that you made. Did you forget that you represent an OOC organization?  How do the other OOC coaches feel about your comments?  Will all OOC coaches bash the parents of any player that decideds to leave the fold?  People are not going to just sit around and let you make these kind of idiotic statements without defending themselves.  What were you thinking ???     In 2018 you will be sitting around polishing your 10-U softball trophies while she will be playing college softball somewhere....and I know you will be sure to take all of the credit for her success. The real Question is ....what are you really developing ?
10. If that is true, some of you local jokers are about to find out what it's all about. Most of the big boys will show up and you will have to win to qualify. (not just enter) Good Luck. Git Yer excuses ready ! Mwaaa...ha...ha..ha...ha
11. While Intensity took home the IFA trophy it is important for us all to keep it in perspective what they have accomplished. Most of us are excited about this team and the spirit in which they played. I am excited for this area to get a glimpse of what could be possible if we can assemble the best players from our area on ONE team. Fact is..... There was only one team at the IFA Tournament that had qualified to play in the ASA Gold Nationals. There are 64 teams in OK city right now did qualify. (Most of the better teams did not attend the IFA Nationals ) Also.... During the IFA tournament there were 168 teams competing in the 16U ASA Nationals. ( Several of the Players in the IFA and the local area are younger and could play 16U ) That is where most of the coaches in the nation were the week of the IFA tournament. That is why you should not skip the 16U age group. It is so important in the recruiting process. Congrats to the Girls that have to play 18U and congrats on your scholarships and your new IFA trophy, but time is short for you younger girls. Be careful !
12. I agree.....Intensity proved to all what this area might be capable of if we can get the right talent on ONE team ( instead of spreading it around to several teams ). Talent usually beats comitment, and if you have both, then you have something really special !
13. I have been trying to tell people in this area how important 16U is in the recruiting process. 16U ASA nationals is awesome....been there twice. I am excited for you, your team , and your daughter. Its nice to have someone else from this area echo what I have been trying top preach for the last 4 years. Congrats and enjoy the ride ! edit.....By the way...many college coaches will be there who didn't "sign up" to attend.
14. Mr.T, I have been hoping that this would happen for several years now. I agree that it would be the best thing our area could do for Girls softball. My daughter has been playing for a team in Houston for her 16U and 18U career. Her team has qualified for ASA Nationals every year so far. I would love for the girls in this area to experience the game at the national level. They don't know what they are missing. With that said: I feel that there are some pretty strong willed Coaches and players that will move on to college ball this fall. There is a new group of parents and players that ( I think ) will be open to the idea you have proposed. The new organization's goals would need to be clear and the purpose well defined. I feel they must have a strong 16U program as well as an 18U "exposure" team for uncommitted players and an 18 Gold team for ASA Nationals. We have the talent in this area to be national contenders, we just need the proper organization, coaching, education, and participation.
15. My 12 Yr. old Daughter played for the SETX Heat this year. They have a solid core group of players and super parents. Outstanding Coaching and Instruction. Coach Jennifer has prior college pitching experience and does not have a kid on the team. She coaches with her husband and they do not play favorites. She also is a fantastic role model and teaches proper instruction and work ethic. I have been around several softball teams. ( I have a 18U Gold Daughter ), and I am the Head Softball Coach at a local high school. I must say that the SETX Heat team has been one of our better softball experiences. I would encourage any eligible players to consider this team.
16. That is how it is done ! It is very hard to Qualify for ASA nationals ( Thank goodness for metro ) If you are from the SETX area you will finally get to see what you have been missing. You will see first hand why I keep telling people how important it is to play 16U as a Freshman and Sophomore. It is a tough tournament with a ton of recruiters. Congratulations.....and don't forget to let the girls enjoy the games. SD is a long way...been there, don't that ....had a great time.
17. I think they should play 18U Gold.....BAG should coach the team....The team name should be "Blacken" Blacken ( Gold )
18. I strongly agree..... Its just plain common courtesy!
19. OK...here goes. No college gives scholarships to any players. They are earned. Also...no coach gets a scholarship for any player. They are earned. I feel that this area has the talent to field an unbelievably talented 18U Gold team that could compete every year for a national title. Not 6 or 7 so-called "gold" teams that delete the talent pool. I have been around long enough to remember the conversations with RV about how to better the softball in this area and several summer coaches agreed on the solution. The GTS were the only organization to step up and offer to field this "Super Elite Team". They wanted the top players and presented the opportunity and expertise to make it happen. Then....everybody and their Dog, decided to make their own "gold team" and ruined what could have been. It's ashamed !! Honestly.....all I see is a few PARTIAL JUCO and CC scholarships a few PARTIAL small Div 1. What kind of offers could have been if the original vision had been followed. We will never know. Thank goodness some of these Geniuses are leaving and the future is getting brighter. PS. Hey OC, What does a team that claims it is all about getting their players college scholarships.....not winning, want with a bunch of already committed seniors anyway?
20. Just wanted you to know how important it is to play 16U as a freshman and sophmore. That is when the recruiters are most active and the larger schools are making their offers. I don't want to get into a big/long conversation about all of this. I was just trying to help.
21. My daughter is a pitcher possibly looking for a team. She is 15 but has been pitching 18U for almost 2 years. We are looking for a stable team with excellent, positive coaching. Are you still looking for pitchers? If you want your daughter to play in college.....you should consider playing 16U first.
