You chalk it up as a learning experience and put your big boy pants back on.  This ain't little league.

Agreed, tackle better.  That's part of what's wrong with the world today.  Make it the fault of the winning team.  Why not work harder to get better and prevent it from happening.  Sure there are teams that are flat out better but things can still be done.  Also why should the winning teams back ups be penalized and told not to score.

I'm sure I'm on the minority side, everyone is going to say how damaging it is to the feelings to get the score ran up on.  Work hard, use it as motivation and get ready for when your next chance comes around.

With the strength and quickness of our D line, I don't think the size is going to help a lot on Hardin's line. I too hope for a number of turf field games ahead. Newton 56 Hardin 0.

What's with you Soulja? You admitted on the Hamburger Depot show Tuesday after the East Chambers game that you were lazy for not reading the entire thread and that you were wrong for making the comments that you did, I heard you.

No need to hate on Newton. The last thing W.T. is worried about is boosting rankings.
Not hating on Newton.  I simply went with the flow of the topic.  Everyone posted their predictions. some predicted 50+.  I then said go for a cool 70+.
But you're right  I was a little lazy on that day.  I honestly hope they do good and hopefully go on to win state. 8)

This will be Collins last time against Newton as he is a senior.  Mettlen is just a sophomore and is working hard everyday to get better.  He plans on living in the weight room after football season.  Good luck to both teams and let us all pray that it will be an injury free game.

Truthfully sir, this is where the difference is made. Good luck to him, after Friday night. ;)
so much envy,  must suck knowing your team probably never going to win state.

We might could post some pictures of the multiple trophies and monuments Newton owns for him to see, so he would at least know what one would look like.  ;D ;D

Yep, ignorance knows no bounds or limits.
  7. Since Kvillecats disappearance the Kirbyville Wildcats have the signs of turning the year around. Is there a connection? Makes conspiracy theorist blood flow!! ;D Kountze will play hard and have some talented kids. Kirbyville cannot let their foot off the gas now. Kville in a close game. Kville 27 Kountze 24

    Newton by 50 or more.

I think the point someone made earlier about resting starters is valid.  But Newton has never done that.  They just want to run up the score on everyone by as much as they can. One the other hand, it doesn't look like they have all that many players on the bench either.
Once again someone that has no idea what their talking about. If Newton wanted to run up the score, why would they have agreed to a running clock the entire 4th quarter against EC and why put any second string in during any of the games? Could easily have scored way more than what any of the district games scores have shown. All any opponent has to do is tackle. If they don't, shame on them because Newton has the kids, notice the plural, to take it to the house. 3 with over a 100 yds rushing each against Kountze. The playoffs are coming. As a team, the Eagles need to have reps, be in condition, and be in sync no matter who is toting the ball. It ain't about winning the district title. It's about the State title.
  10. At the 2A level if a school continually fields competitive teams, that has to reflect as outstanding coaching. Adhering to a proven system, both during the season and the off season, I think most definetly proves the coaching staff is doing a superb job. People continually say that Newton has all this home grown talent and do not see what is really the influencing factor involved. The kids at Newton are exposed to a work ethic system of improvement at whatever skill level they have. They lift weights, run, and are continually challenged to be better from the time they are in the system in the 7th grade until they graduate. Not only challenged but expected to perform at a high level. They play to a higher level year in and year out because of this. Newton can not be compared to WOS on the field, but as to making every kid in the program better athletically they are on par. These two programs should be studied in depth by others wanting to improve on a yearly basis. Not copy in x's and o's but how they get their athletes to produce year in and year out IMO.

I agree with you DP8036, but with the old system, no offense to Deweyville, but you guys didn't stand a chance at the postseason in 10-2A...we (Buna) made it 3 times in 6 years and we are a big 2A school.  The Pirates best bet is to keep a select few kids at home on 'count' day and assure yourselves of dropping to 1A.  There will always be someone getting the shaft with the numbers game.  There has to be a bottom and a top limit, I understand that.  But how about splitting districts up, higher / lower.  21-3A should be Silsbee, WO-S and BC for the big school title and Buna, OF, HF and HJ for the small school based on enrollment.  Of course, Newton blows the whole smaller schools can't compete with larger schools theory out of the water, with the lowest enrollment in 10-2A by 40-50 kids.
And the number difference in small schools of 100 kids does by percentage make more of a difference than 200 to 300 kids makes in 4A. But in 1998 Newton was the fifth smallest school in all of 3A and won the small school title. There is never going to be an "equal for all" answer. Nature of the beast. Dollars drive nearly anything in society now days. UIL is no different.

:). Newton will beat Anahuac. But newton has got to rest their starters when they get up by 40 + points.. Once again Newton coaching staff... Shorter could have been HURT and OUT on that face mask... Newton up 50-10 and he still in the game.. WHY????
Newton has too much talent to let it sit on the bench.. Change up your game... Playoffs are coming and you need them guys... Cant afford to take a chance on one of them getting hurt.. Best believe these teams KNOW your go to guys and will be on them like sugar on the sugarcane...
Why not just sit them out until the state championship game? We don't want them hurt and for sure we don't want them to be tired. Why not set them out of practice too. That way we could be sure and not get them any dings. We could protect their muscles by not exercising them so they don't pull anything. We could put them in a plastic bubble to make sure they don't catch a cold or the flu or something too. ::)
