Lee freshman just ran about20 plays for negative 20 yards.  Angleton playing what I like to call the punt block defense on John madden

Lee does not have a whole lot of size. I think if anything lee and angleton may have similar traits. Lot of small, quick guys and not much size

Pasadena Memorial is always a tough, hard-nosed football team.  I would imagine they will be able to smash mouth the ball on BH a little bit. It should be a good test for BH.

Exactly Gasilla. FW fans are a little too defensive. The thing you have to remember about high school football teams is that they are going to have multiple busted assignments throughout a game.  NFL teams have them, college teams have more than the NFL, and high school teams have even more than college.  This goes for the very best executing teams out there like LT.  LT will have plenty of busted assignments throughout a game.  They are good enough to still win the games though. Knowing that, you now have to consider the result of the busted assignment.  If you are playing a typical team, you may bust an assignment and give up 20 yards.  If you play WOS and a guy misses an assignment then they have two or three receivers that no one on FW can catch. I guess I'm saying that WOS has a puncher's chance.  They have a lot of speed in the defensive backfield.  I could see them picking off a ball or two and possibly running one back for a td.  I could see them getting a punt or kick return for a td.  I could see them getting a long pass play or two for a td. When you have that kind of speed, you always have a chance.

OK, I could say that I have seen it with my own eyes, but then that would be too subjective. How else am I supposed to argue my point?  I tried to provide empirical evidence to the best of my ability. I would just assume that everyone knows and understands that WOS is faster than FW, but I guess that's not as much of a given as it should be.

Of course WOS is faster than LT. I never claimed that speed was all it took to win football games.  I was merely replying to one small quote in the thread.  WOS may have trouble with FW's size and execution, but WOS can run circles around FW in the speed department. I guess we will find out pretty quick here this year if the Ganders have anything at all or if it will be a long season. I would almost prefer to play Deer Park like in the past few years. lol Quandre Diggs might have the ability to make Lee look really bad all by himself. I will be out there though, and I will try to provide some updates.

No, I'm not profiling. I've yet to see a Friendswood team yet that had any sort of speed on it. They do it with coaching and execution and size. If they had speed too, then we would have been talking about 3 or 4 state championships by now.

Again, you're creating an argument that doesn't exist. No one said that speed was going to make WOS beat FW. The point I made was a single, solitary point. WOS can run circles around FW in the speed dept.  I never claimed that one should infer anything from that fact.

Never said WOS was better, but FW has no where near the speed that WOS has.

I figure GCM is going to have a stout defense.  You have to consider they had mostly sophomores and juniors last year.  What do they have, 9 starters back on defense? This from a defense that was rounding into form at the end of the season. I'm just not sure about the offense, particularly with Jacobs focusing on baseball.  He had to be the leading contender to take over the qb position. I'm not sure where LCM is all of the sudden the odds on favorite to beat GCM.

I was not there, so I really have no idea.  This excerpt from the Baytown Sun would lead me to believe that CY Springs had some good success running the ball and GCM had zero success running the ball. Gee.... you got a kid playing on the football team? The baseball team should be pretty good this year with Seeley back.

Are these all 1st team vs 1st team?  Are they working in a lot of subs?

WOS has light years better speed than Friendswood. You could take the 22 fastest players to ever play at Friendswood in their entire history and you might be able to compare to what WOS has every single year.

In what year did you first go to every game(bought season tix if your team has them) to watch your team? Have you gone to every game since?

As far as I know the times are still good. They were correct on Monday when I watched them.  I watched them from 5:30-6:15, then they came back out at about 7:05 and I watched til 8 and left. They practice on the field right across from Lee College on Lee Drive.  There is a fence surrounding the field, so it is a bit difficult to get a good look from the Lee College parking lot, but not impossible.

There's just not much of substance there. I could take Dave Campbell's magazine, the Internet and give me about 2 hours and I could write all 25 of those articles that the Houston Chronicle does for each of the different 4a and 5a districts.  It couldn't take more than 5 minutes for each article. Why would anyone want to pay for that?  Put some effort into it.
