PNG is ranked too high. This is one of there usual off years. every three or four years they will have a string of bad teams this may be one of those. Thats why I cant stand when people call them a perennial powerhouse when every 3 or 4 years they will have several losing seasons in a row.
-
Im gonna have to agree with Jags on that one but I would throw dayton in there too.
-
Man if you think that was an upset then you obviously know nothing about football. WOS is at a whole nother level than kirbyville and most of the other teams in that district except for silsbee we will have to wait and see on that one. And with the 4-A district way down this year WOS could beat any team in that district. The Kirbyville defence was unbelievably weak against WOS. And offensively the only decent runner was Rhodes. The others all ran straight up and couldnt gain a thing. Ill give you the passing game since you didnt have your starting QB.

Yea but you still have the overall which just causes some problems with people that are more worried about where they are ranked than how good they are playing on friday(saturday) nights.

Since you obviously cant compare a team like newton to a team like west brook. I propose a new pole that would rank 5 teams in three polls. 1 for WB, PAM and 4-A. A second for 3-A, 2-A and Kelly and finally one for 1-A and small private schools. This way the teams would be ranked against other teams that they would possibly face. Otherwise you might as well have a top 25 ranking that includes football basketball and baseball teams. Cuz thats what your doing when your trying to rank newton with WB and PAM

Thats the point I was trying to make. He is not required to play Ozen and Central. He is TOLD too. I also have a parent that is employed at West Brook and I know all about the bull sh** that they deal with. I have said it before and I will say it again. West Brook should form its own school district.
-
Why is he required to play them? Its not a UIL rule.
-
I was just wondering about WOS size this year. Some are saying they are bigger than usual but I have also seen many posts where they said WOS lacked size. I guess I take that to mean we are bigger but still small.
-
I would say Earl is only underrated when compared to Beasely. Some people think WOS will br weaker than last year without him but if Earl got the ball more he could produce in the same way. I dunno if any of the WOS fans remember the Bay City game when Earl was a soph. But they had some LB's going to A&M and Earl was running over them. And other than Earl they dominated WOS defensively that game.
-
Id wait until every team has played one regular game before picking upsets. I dont think it would be smart to pick upsets based on a schools past. Every school has an off year or a year that is less productive than usual.
-
Stump can schedule anybody he wants but he receives pressure from other people to keep the Beaumont threeway going. And Cardinal stadium is a piece of crap so why play there every time when you can play at home every other year on a nicer field.
-
I dunno playing WOS at home on the turf could be a disadvantage.
-
Im not trying to argue with you Im just saying that it wouldnt be smart to gauge Daytons season if they lose to WOS. Especially it being the first game of the season.
-
Why does Dayton have to win to prove anything. They can lose to WOS and still compete in that district. WOS beat nederland and central last year and probably could have beaten any of the others on any given night. Theres only two teams in that district that I would call a powerhouse so they should be fine win or lose. Unless they get dominated by WOS but I dont see that happening.
-
I think Central and West Brook should get to play Ozen at their home field some but it wont happen. Thats Thomas' school and they get what they want.

Pleased with WOS. Dissapointed with the district. How is WOS suppose to prepare for the playoffs in this district. This year I thought it would be better with Jasper and Silsbee in district but im not so sure anymore. Its really a disadvantage for WOS to play such a weak district and then have to step it up several levels in the playoffs. I mean they ran what 26 plays against HJ. Thats half of Mosleys carries against PNG.
