  1. The so-called onside kick was clearly a squib down the middle of the field.  The PNG kicker drilled it down the middle of the field but it happened to hit a Vidor player.  That Vidor player immediately fell onto the ball.  The NDNs didn't even attempt to get it.

You're right. I didn't think anyone would have thought that was an onside kick. PN-G was just making sure there was no return. And that is a smart play. If you see my post on the other thread (oh, you'll know which one  ;D ) you'll know that I believe we were outcoached tonight. Not just in the second half either. The whole darn game.

  2. now move on and quit whining ;)

Yeah. I'll move on. I hope that my team doesn't play any better next week. I hope we keep being mediocre. I hope our playcalling gets even worse and the fans just blindly all go along with it.

And if you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you.  ;D

And to injun, what part about third quarter did you miss in my post? I never said anything about about running in the fourth. Come on man. I know you understand football better than that. Because we DIDN'T continue to run like we are good at, we HAD to throw like maniacs in the fourth. You have to understand what I meant, right? I'm sure you know football better than you are letting on. Y'all live and breath it over there.  ;)

  3. You honestly

think he was trying to run the score up...

Well, what happened? You mean you didn't score in the fianl seconds? Come on. Any fool know the safest way to run out the clock. We've done it when we were on the one-yard line before and could have easily punched it in. But we didn't because we knew we already had the game won.

Defend it all you want, but some coaches have class and some don't. But if the shoe was on the other foot, I bet you'd see it as classless. But that is something you don't have to worry about from Mathews. I'll give him that.

  4. As far as giving it to whoever and popping off 4 or 5 yds per carry, were you watching the same game as I was?

Yep. Just not through purple-tinted glasses. Anyone who wants to watch tomorrow will se that yes, Pitman was taking your boys to the cleaners at the beginning of the third. Maybe you were still at the concession stand or something.

Get a clue before you bash your coaches that you have been praising all year.

I've bashed before this. You don't know me at all. I'm never happy with mediocrity.

  5. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ........ yeah we took advantage ....... we showed ya'll that that high powered O isn't all that high powered!

Looked powerful to me in the third and fourth. All you guys had to do was stop that 1 yard 4th down and you would have had another chance. What happened there?

Good point, PFL. That play was just as important as keeping us out of the end zone. We won that down and won the game.

Football is, simply put, one down at a time. Very good game IMO. But like I said before, I like defensive games better than shootouts.

  6. Well, like I have all season, I will not make a prediction. So far that has helped us 4 out of 5 times.  ;D

But seriously, I don't believe in a fan-caused jinx. But I do believe that Vidor cannot afford to come into this game cocky by any means. Because Ozen has what Central has ... speed. Remember last year when we were picked to beat Ozen? What happened? Speed killed us.

Gotta play tough on both defense and offense to win this one. Can't just depend on either one to save us. We gotta have both clicking.

    GO PIRATES!!!

  7. That is one thing that I can always say about Mathews, even if I don't agree with his playcalling all of the time: The guy is all class and is willing to admit mistakes. Never underrates or underestimates another team.

So, even in the years of that d*** swinging gate, I gotta admit that I always liked the guy and still do. But Soulja1 can back up the fact that I hate the swinging gate.

BTW, did I ever mention that I hate the swinging gate?  ;D

  8. I say Central will pull this one out. You won't be able to count on your defense to keep this one close. Against Central, you HAVE to score almost every time you touch the ball. When it comes to Central, speed kills. If their running backs break into the secondary, forget it. It is all over, unless the Jags do something not smart like an illegal block. Because once they hit open field (Daw especially), it is off to the races. And Lumberton's D is a lot like ours. So, like us, they'll have trouble keeping up.

But Central does have a little trouble on defense this year stopping the run. So if the Raiders stick with the run, and score almost every drive in some capacity, could be another scorefest like Central vs. Vidor was. But if Lumberton comes out throwing against those speedy corners? It will be a long night for the Radier faithful and a Central blowout.

Raiders, if you want to keep this close, run the ball. But I still see Central taking this one.

  9. I for one was glad the way that the game went. After the Central game, I was worried about how our defense would look. I'm not like most people, I guess, in the fact that I would rather see a stout defensive game over a score fest.

For Lumberton to hold our offense to 14 points? That is a statement in itself. Probably doesn't help that we came out throwing in our first drive instead of doing our bread and butter, ground-and-pound line domination. But still, the Raiders stepped up and shut us down in the first half. And for that, I say hats off to them.

We held them to only three points in the first half, so I was real proud of our defense as well ... especially after the trouble they had against Central. Second half, Rico gets two sacks on the same Lumberton drive, Runnels starts playing heck on the quarterback and running backs behind the line. I tell you, it was a sight for these sore eyes.  ;D

But just watching, I believe Lumberton will hold its own the rest of district, if they can stop the rediculous penalties. How many were there on that last drive before halftime? Five, six? I bet they got an earful in the locker room.

But thanks Lumberton for restoring my faith in our defense and just in good defensive play in general. Heck of a game.

  10. I taped the game and what you can't hear is the whistle blow... I was there, when the refs ran in the whistle had been blown.  The kid kept rolling after he had been stopped... He wound up in the endzone on the third roll!  Nmber 63 met him in the backfield!!!!

Why would the refs have blown the whistle if the pile was moving? I was on the sideline at the goal line and heard no whistle. Strange night ... but a great game.

As for the fumbles, I never said they were not forced. But if we had taken the hits and not coughed it up, you don't get two of your scoring drives. Think about it.

Good luck to the Jags. Like I said before, there was no quit in either team. I bet those Lumberton scouts were shaking in their seats.  ;D
