Nederland Dog 2006

I keep hearing how good this Angleton offense is. How many points they can put up in such a short amount of time and this and that. And they keep talking about how Nederland hasn't played against a quality opponent. Well Crosby isn't a scrub of a team. And goose creek, well, they could be better. But this Nederland Defense is the best defense in the state. That's just my opinion. We average 260-270+ on the defensive line, our linebackers are very solid hard-hitting kids, and with our defensive line getting in the backfield every play, you know our corners and safeties will be slobbering at the mouth for a QB mistake. Now there is no doubt in my mid that Angleton is a STUD...A STUD of a team....BUT they have not faced a defense like this one in Nederland. And should I mention an offense with a running back who can bust a 50 yarder at anytime, and a Qb who has four, count 'em, four studs at wide out who have speed and great hands. This game is going to be hard hitting, nasty, and outright rough. Gonna be tied in the fourth and Nederland will pull away winning by 2 scores. I will say Nederland 31- Angleton 21. Go Dogs! Clear eyes, Full Heart, Can't Lose!

I'm willing to say we got the best defensive line, possibly the best defense, in 4A. If we can keep running the ball like we did with Hopkins, and our WRs dont drop so many balls, Aint no telling how far this Nederland team can go. Carson would have had 200+ yds in the air if the wideouts wouldn't have dropped so manny passes, but they made some great catches as well. For the first game of the season. We looked very good on offense. As for the defense, well, we were in...Beast Mode!

Nederland 35- Crosby 7. Crosby is gonna get smashed! Simple as that.

It's a long, long, long, long shot but just think about it. St. Louis lost 40 HRs and 120 RBIs in Albert Pujols leaving for the Angels. Milwaukee lost 30+ HRs and 100+ RBIs in losing Prince Fielder to Detroit. The BIG SLUGGERS of our division are no longer in our division. Pittsburgh is on the rise, I believe. The Reds are gonna get better. And who knows what the Cubs are gonna do with their new GM. Yes St. Louis is the defending champs but it is very hard to replace 40+ HRs and 120 RBIs. Who said this young Astros team is just completely out of this division race before the season starts? You never know. 2 teams lost their big sluggers and you never know what might happen with a young team. We will see. Go 'Stros!

Yeah. I like Houston, but I'm a Celtics fan and a Blake Griffin fan.

Those are big pick ups for Dallas. They'll win their division and be in the playoffs again.

I can see a lot of promise in this group of kids. We played really good last night considering the missed free throws and 3 point shots.

I couldn't be more proud of my Dogs. Let me tell you something. Everybody underestimated this district. Its not just Nederland that has players returning and coming up. Im not just saying Nederland but this district will have a State Champion within the next 2-3 years. If not sooner.

I believe our defense is going to have one of its biggest games of the year. We are going to smother their quarterback. And yes...GET THE BALL IN #9's HANDS! He is a playmaker. Benjamin has got to keep the ball in his hands and quit putting it on the turf. I'd make him carry a football all week if it were up to me. You cannot fumble against a team this good. But honestly i wouldn't call it a shocker if we won. If we just play our game and not do too many stupid mistakes we should take care of business. They are very beatable. Carson has got to wake up and throw the football better. he forces it too many times. Cut down on the turnovers, play a little defense and put 24-28 points up and we will be fine.

You want to make noise while we are on defense cause it can disrupt the other teams offense. You dont want to make so much noise while we are on offense cause it can disrupt our offensive cadence with the Qb and offensive line.

Is Nederland any good in basketball this year? I havnt made a game yet.

I know one game at a time. But i really dont see any team giving us TOO MUCH trouble besides Lake Travis. We possibly could meet up with Vidor in the quarterfinals. I believe Vidor could make a deep run. They got a stingy defense. Nederland is gonna make some serious noise. Sorry Stratford. Not gonna happen. 8)

As long as we stick to what works. RUN THE FOOTBALL! To be honest, I'd run it on 3rd and 5 or 3rd and 6 sometimes, because we got the back and the O-line to do it. Like everybody else said, yes, i would use the TE a little more. But I would use him in goal line plays. He's a big body and he can go up and grab the football. Arguably the best hands on the team.

We're not an overpowering offense, we need misdirection, counters and traps with good play action passes, outs from the slot-TE spots and crossing routeswith WR's. Hard to beat a good bootleg with a deep corner route, a 10-15 yd TE out and a short 3-5 yd out from a RB and if nobody is open you have the option to run, JMO. [/quote] Couldn't agree more.
