I think Bevil got a bad case of what I believe the pros call happy feet.  That is when a qb looses faith in his line to protect him and starts heaving the ball just to get rid of it and avoid the sac or the bruising from all of the hits.  Not standing up for Bevil but there have been many outstanding college qbs fail in the pros for that reason.  David Carr and the Texans are just one example I can think of.

Did a little research and since I am a relatively new comer to Bmt.  Moved here in the fall of 83.  From 83 to 89 last six years of football LU played SHSU three times and SFA twice.  From 83-84 basketball through the 97-98 seasons (last year in the Sunbelt) LU played SHSU three times and SFA once.  They played San Jose St twice I believe.  So where are these long time rivalries?

Coach Tidwell was on Harold Manns show on KLVI tonight and stated that Lamar plans a job posting for a Head Softball Coach in May, with plans to start playing in the fall of 13.

Tx State has the best starting pitching in conference but has very little depth.  Just like last year if they loose an early game in the conference tourney they will have trouble getting to the final game.  Not sure about SELA pitching.  Lamar with the injuries also has the depth at pitching issue.  I still doubt the SLC will get more than one team in even if SELA would win the tourney and TS take second.

Should is the key word, but the reality is today the NCAA Tourneys are about money.  The SLC doesn't represent enough fan base and even in baseball they want full stadiums.  That's why the same schools host the regionals every year.  You will get one or two SEC teams in that probably shouldn't before you get two SLC teams in.

tell that to at least three teams that should have gone to the NCAA Tourney before the last three of eleven from the Big East.

From now until gametime everyone of us needs to be 100% excited about the potential.  I do believe we have players returning capable of much more than we saw last year.  I support Lamar first above even my favorite teams.  One thnig I believe is positive is that even though Coack Knights record was not acceptable at Tech to continure, if you watched them I believe you saw improvement in idividual players over his tenure there.  That is one thing that I have been most disappointed in while watching Lamar.  There seemed to be very little skills improvement in the players from one year to the next.

Let's all be honest, we will support the new coach who ever it is up until the first recruiting class is listed, the first schedule is released or the first open practice or game we see.  Then we will return to 2nd guessing the basketball brain trust at Lamar

Better question, when did we play Kingsville, I don't remember playing them anytime in recent history.

I don't care f the new coach is "green" as long as within one to two years the rest of the SLC is green with envy.

I heard last night that Evans was a point guard at OU.  I like that as I believe point guards are typically more successful as coaches than other position players.  Point guards are usually the leader on the floor.  I also like it that he has proven he can win.

The biggest thing Abettamarco did at the time that I am familiar with was he said that Patrizi's was a poor excuse for an Italian resturant.  The other thing was jump ship to what he believed was a stronger basketball conference after only two years.

Branch folled Abettamarco but other than that I think it is correct.

No reason to think he wouldn't but then that is true about any of those who have coached in a better conference.  Just expect it to take two to three years to turn it around here.

I know there is plenty of bad blood toward Abettemarco's arrogance toward the community the first time around, I think he has stated in an interview that he was out of line and regrets his earlier comments.

The selection for the NCAA Tourney is a joke.  I do not doubt that most any of the Big East teams would beat all of the SLC teams every night and probably at least half of the WAC and CUSA teams but there are to many mid level conferences that should have had more than one team in.  St. Mary's out of the West Coast Conf, Wichita State out of the Missouri Valley to name two.  I believe the NCAA would be better served by limiting the number of teams from one conference to no more than four and getting rid of the last four teams from the tourney.  If you couldn't win your regualar season or conference tourney why should you get to play? Oh yeah it's so the NCAA and the big boys get more money.

The quote on Gresham about graduation only applied to the players that used all of their eligibility at Lamar.  Unfortunately that is not the way the NCAA measures graduation rates.  Once a recruit comes on campus if he does not stay or transfer and graduate on time the recruit counts as not having graduated and the University can be penalized.  There are a number of players that left early as stated earlier.  I believe if you go through the full list of basketball recruits that were listed on the roster over the past five years you will find more that left than used their eligibility at LU
