1. The only things Knight seemed a little unhappy with in the post game was didn't have a bigger rebounding edge and there field goal percentage.  It sounded like they did a good job of getting the ball inside where they had a height advantage.
2. Two comments, while I am not big on Bevil, I seem to remember a number of college an pro quarterbacks who have hit their throwing hand on a helmet and had it end their night, so other than if Woodard new that Berry was seriously hurt which it is quite possible that the young man sucked it up and hid it the best he could there was probably no way that Bevil could come back in and throw a pass.  Bevil's last interception was after he hurt the hand and if you watched he tried to will the ball to the receiver.  Second if Woodard and the trainer suspected that Berry was possibly hurt any worse than a twisted ankle and allowed Berry back in the game I don't want them around.
3. While it may cause higher travel costs if the SLC adds another team it probably needs to look to something in Oklahoma or Arkansas to help ORU and UCA in travel and recruiting.
4. Yes we got beat on the boards by a team with an overall bigger line up.  Three point shooting percentage not good enough and too many attempts.  While free throw percentage was better, Ohio shot almost 90% from the line.
5. I hope they have a special game come Saturday, but I sure hope they haven't "saved" anything.  I trust they have given it their best shot every game.
6. Knights lack success at Tech based on my interpretation of some of his comments and my own opions are 1.  Moving from Asst to Head Coach neither the team nor the community accepted him as the Head Coach, he was still an Assistant.  2.  He focused first on the offense and was never able to get the players to buy into the defense the way he wanted.  3.  No matter who the coach is, Tech is a difficult place to get the caliber of player required to compete in one of the top three basketball conferences to commit to attending, it is five to six hours from Tech to any major city.
7. Personally I am not worried about next year.  Yes we loose six seniors but I have confidence in Knights recruiting.  He has three guards signed for next year and if the big men continue to progress we may be a better team next year than we will be this year.  Devon Lamb will be the hardest to replace as players with that kind of work ethic are hard to come by.
8. I understand this much, there are some on this board who would only be happy if Johnson were qb and we win, others who would only be happy if Prewitt is qb and we win and finally those who are diehards for Bevil.  I just want LU to win.
9.
I repeat my earlier stance...........WHO CARES WHO THE QB IS........we want to compete, and win games!!!!!
Agreed
10. I agree that you can probably recruit a better caliber of player if you are playing top 25 teams but after the last two weeks drubbings do you really believe if SLAM and SFA can put that kind of beating on us we can score more or give up less points against OK State and others?  I am pulling for Woodard and the team but I want "Wins" against our conference peers and other FCS schools.  The only reason Woodard has these upper tier schools on his schedule is for the payday because he has to produce $$$$ for the budget and that won't happen any time soon from home games against anyone.  There aren't enough seats in Provost Umphrey, TV money or other money to support the program as compared to what they will receive from one game at T Boone stadium.
11. I don't know if Prewitt should have been the starter all year or if he is better or worse than Bevil or Johnson, but I give him an A for attitude and heart.  There were several hits that he took which I was supprised that he stayed in the game after.  The other player I saw that didn't want to come out of the game was Garrett on defense.  Yes he did have to come out twice but managed to get the coaches to let him go back in after getting retaped or whatever.
12. I would say that Woodard is in a simalar position as Roc the year before last.  If he did bench some players for attitude issues good for him but it is probably late.  It is his responsibility to assess and replace coaches.  Personally I am not impressed with the OC.  After the first three plays I wondered what he was thinking?  I guess it was a qb read, pass and qb read but if I have two qbs injured I don't want my qb getting hit two out of the first three plays.  Either way it says we have no confidence in our young running backs.  Find someone else.
13. Doesn't matter to me if it is offense or defense.  He could play slot receiver or a wingback on offense.  With his speed he could play defensive back.  Yes we have a strong WR corps but we are definately week at defesive back.  Also he could be running kicks back or on the kick coverage squads.  If your afraid of him getting hurt then he is not the athlete that many of you say he is.  My point is that we should have our most talented players on the field every play.
14. When you are starting a program and you have not had time to build depth at the various positions then you put the best athletes you have on the field and if they are the kind of players you want to build your team with they will play their hearts out no matter what the position.  I see nothing but good for the team in using JJ at another position if he is not ready to start at Qb.  He can still work in practice and the off season to further develop his throwing skill.  I think most everyone would agree that if his passing was better whether the problems are skill related or timing related or decision making he would be the starter as he is definately the best running Qb and posses big problems for a defense if they have to worry about both the run and pass, problem right now is they really only have to worry about his run.
15. Good game and finally an enjoyable atmosphere.  Coach Knight relaxed, not trying to intimidate the officials or his players.  Team did what it was supposed to do (win big).  Plenty of oppurtunities for improvement once coach watches the tape, but there is defiinately much improved play particularly on defense.
16. I see nothing degrading in Puddin's assesment of yesterdays game.  Other than the two qb and coach he mentioned no one by name and even if you did not use a name there are only two qbs playing and one head coach.  In general I am not a demonstrative fan and yes I may leave late in the fourth q when there is no way that LU can win or in the case of one of the early season games loose and that has more to do with the parking and hike to get out of the stadium than the teams performance.  The players are exceptional athletes because your average high school player does not get to play for a D1 program.  Now they need to show leadership and pride in themselves it is very frustrating to see Lamar have to call timeouts every game because a player or players are not ready when there number is called.
17. Jeremy Johnson looked typical for an extremely fast running qb.  He has only average passing skill.  Bevil is still Bevil good passer but poor descision maker.  Doubt that it will happen but I would like to see Prewitt just to see what he might bring.  Other than that I am ready for Johnson to start as Bevil is a senior and while he has played good at times it does not seem he can perform consistently against better competition and will be gone after four more games.
18. I understand Coach Knights feelings about what seems like a silly rule, but he is probably doing himself and Lamar a diservice by making light of it.  This is one of those things that one should simply say I'm sorry, it was a rule I didn't know or remember and it will not happen again.  That is what makes a story like this go away, which is what needs to happen right now.
19. How about trying the bigger running backs early and establishing a running game or even taking another tight end and making him a running back.  Nothing against Venson except he can not run over anybody and we need to do that to open up what ever kind of passing game you want to have.  Really doesn't matter who is qb if they are running for their life.
20. If the qb is going to have to run for his life then Johnson is probably the right choice.  Prewitt would be a good choice if you had a running game without him running.  Bevil while he doesn't have the ints and fumbles he had at this point last year he still has the same tendency to force the ball and only focus on the home run throw.
21. What does Ray not being happy have to do with cutting Jackson a break if he was on a gimpy leg and couldn't get to the ball?  I am not happy either and I believe we used at least three different people to not catch punts.  Although is is used a lot less now than it used to be another option is to put two back to receive punts so they don't have to cover as much ground to get under the ball.
22. Regarding Bevil stepping out of bounds short of the 1st down marker as the qb he is expected to know what is needed to get the first down.  As for Jackson I will cut him a break only because as I recall that was the return that I first noticed him limping.  Almost immediately after that play he had his ankle retaped.
23. These alums that you want to donate to Lamar so Lamar can by the land need to start buying up the land between Lamar and Highland avenue and start creating the college atmosphere that you refer to.  What Lamar needs to add to the mix is a first class education and continuing to improve the quality of athletics.  The other thing the LU alums need to help with is increasing the coaching salaries to either keep a successful coach or entice a proven coach to come here in the future.
24.
a winner tries to get that first down
Now thats a quote I agree with.  While I believe overall Nwst probably is the better team week in and week out, IMO the first interception and failing to fight for that first down made a big difference.
