  1. With that being said, I stand by my predictions of Crosby by 14 and Eudy with 350 passing yards.
  2. I think an important part of the CE King game is missing. CE King scored -5 points from the previous year and Crosby scored +15. My question would be, in what quarter did the most scoring take place? Did King get up by like 30 and start subbing in their bench players? Did Crosby score all (or some) of their points early in the game against their top tier players. I can see King subbing in players once they felt the game was out of reach. Same for Crosby, did they sub players once the game was out of reach and King scored points? IMO, this week will be a better judge of the team status. I predict Crosby by 14 and Eudy with 350 passing yards.
  3. Crosby's game to lose. FBM is a better team of players but lack coaching and discipline. FBM "probably" would have beat Crosby in 21 if Chris Marshall had not got thrown out of the game (lack of discipline reared its head). Since then that Cougars have owned FBM and should be the same this year.
  4. 14.2, no need to explain. He definitely don't know any Crosby history, you come from a Football (RB) family. By many accounts (of course debatable) your Dad (RIP) was one of the best RBs ever to come out of Crosby/BST. I didn't see him play, but there are plenty that did and they are pretty close in their opinions. I also understand you did great work while up in the Dallas area with A&M Commerce. I left the Crosby area when you were playing HS but I heard good things.
  5. As a Crosby Alumni I might have to gas up the hooptie and slide down highway 90 and see what my cougars gonna do. For a title winning coach like Mr. Willis to make the statement about his starting QB "cognitively, he's as good as anyone I've coached", he must be good and I might need to come see for myself. Here we are, Crosby have gotten what they wanted. However, I haven't seen the chatter like it was last year when my fellow Crosby folks was calling for him to replace the starting QB. I guess my Crosbytonians gonna wait until he makes some noise before they pull out their bull horns. Other than being an Crosby Alumni, I'm glad to not have a dog in this fight.
  6. The offense will be beneficial for some and not others. Seems like it will be a run heavy offense, which is good for your son and Wesley. But for WRs it may not. Yeah Crosby has been used of the spread formation and putting up alot of points. Not sure about the talent mix, but in years past most of the studs were on offense (maybe to a fault). Therefore, the previous offenses were considered explosive and that's what the Code Red community will be expecting. Bringing in a new coach (different offense) is always a gamble, as you stated the offense needs to fit the type of athletes. Hopefully in the coming weeks things will be figured out. Prieto started slow his first couple games, but..... he had studs on both sides of the ball and probably on the sidelines too. Not many coaches can say they had 2 legitimate QBs. Many say they have a QB thats dual threat, but having 2 kids that can line up behind center and get you 10-15 yards easily is special. As a defense it's a nightmare trying to prepare for 2 QBs, so I would say the Prieto had a different group and situation. Hopefully this coach proves otherwise.
  7. Crosby culture just can't get out of its own way, daddy ball 2.0.... I got it, I know what you may say.... But when the asst AD son is starting at WR as a SOPH, that's daddy ball esp when you have other capable athletes. Varsity FB is tough for underclassmen very few perform good on that level as a 10th grader. Even that state run 2021 class, many of those kids didn't make a mark until their 11 and 12 grade years.
  8. How did that Samual (#13 or 17) kid do at WR? Asking for a friend.
  9. Gotcha, thanks for the clarification!
  10. I might have to come check it out. Just going off what the dad is saying on his FB post from 2 days ago (August 14) were the kid is wearing #17. But I will go with what you say, I am not that close to the program anymore.
  11. I am not sure about that Samual kid at WR. Seen his Dad post on FB today he was not at WR.
  12. Can't speak to Levi, but I know for a fact that Wesley attended numerous camps during the summer.
  13. I would say the coaches should be a lobbyist for their players with the colleges. Other wise the random contact is just one of many and might not get the attention from said college coach. From all that I have heard college coaches rarely respond to player/parent emails. One would think through the years the HS coach have developed countless relationships throughout the college ranks and he/she could make a call and say "check out this player". That phone call could get a player from the bottom of the stack to the top. Now if you are top ranked then there is not much vouching needed. Grant it each sport is a little different. First hand account from David Dumars (Joe Dumars brother) asst Bball coach with Mcneese. I was on a college visit with my son and he stated, when they are looking for player(s) they usually contact some scouting services. Jim Hicks with RCS sports here in Houston is who he would call, his scouting service provides intel/recommendations about players to the college coaches. Scouting services have to be certified through the NCAA. I'll give you another specific example, in roughly 2016 Dayton Bball team got more players scholarships than Crosby and Dayton did not even make the playoffs. Why, their coach was once an asst at Lee College and knew many coaches to contact. Archie Myles went to Ca,, Godfrey went somewhere in Kansas and there was another kid went somewhere else. That year Crosby Bball had ZERO go to college for BBall. Whats even crazier one of the kids had grade issues and didn't play his entire senior season, but still went on to a college. How can you be in a tenured HS coach (no matter the sports) and don't have anyone you can call at the next level and say check out this player.
  14. [Hidden Content] The town of Crosby/Barrett Station always possessed talent. However, that talent often had to leave Crosby to thrive, even wayyy back then. Martin Lemond grew up in Barrett but had to attend Sterling in Baytown. Likewise with Brian Johnson, had to move to Lee to thrive. So I guess those parents were delusional too, yeah right. Do what's in the best interest of your children.
  15. Your experiences are not my experiences. What parents have to do with stating facts? Maybe some parents do know more than a coach, but they desire to find employment in different professions. Just cause a "parent" don't walk around in sweats and a whistle around there neck all day does not mean they are clueless.
  16. Facts about recruiting, when Rio was there tons of kids got D1 oppurtunites. Not sure how you compete in the state title game and no kid (not transfers) gets a D1 scholarship, but from that experience many coaches went on to take greater opportunities. The mere fact you in the title game mean you have talent on that roster. Branch was the only one with the D1 offer and that was a result of him time at Goose Creek. UIW have/had a pipeline back to Goose Creek, they recruited several kids from that district (Haywood, Keke, etc....). So yes sometimes you have to move for better opportunities. I say to the naysayers, "the grass aint always greener on the other side". Thats okay, I'll water it when I get there (LMAO).....
  17. You are absolutely right, transfers are happening daily HS just don't have an official portal. Now (more so) kids are getting together and all transferring to the same schools etc... Especially in basketball, they spend a lot of time playing AAU and become good friends. If I HS program ain't acquiring players then they have the potential to not be as great. I think there is a lot of homegrown talent in Crosby, but a lot get weeded out or discouraged at the MS level. I seen it first hand, the MS coaches only let certain kids tryout for certain positions. During our time the "prerequisite" to be a WR you had to be a taller kid (LMAO). Not base on skills but on height.
  18. 70% damn, isn't Crosby (not alone) short as an aggregate on teachers? Crosby need to shore up the move-ins (i.e. Branch and Dunn...). Sure there is plenty of home grown talent, but that 21 class was full of move-ins. This is where a hire like Mr. Hurts would have been vital, coached in all the areas surrounding Crosby (Baytown and CV). Another aspect that many don't speak on, Riordan was a good communicator/recruiter and kids wanted to play for him. He felt comfortable going anywhere and sitting in many livings rooms/kitchen tables.
  19. Whoa, where are my tax dollars going then? I might have to do a public information request to the district. You are right there were kids that refused to play FB under Flannagan and those same kids thrived under Riordan. All ADs request additional funding from Admin, so we will see how that goes.
  20. "One thing for sure Crosby will play defense and the best 11 players will be on the field." Best 11, now this is where things gonna go left. For the most part Crosby is still a small town (IJS). From what I been told the previous coach had that same mentality. Led them to the state game and still had parent(s) knocking on his door about "playing time". We shall see and I wish him success!
  21. I agree with you that Eudy needs to the be the QB. But come on, you gotta have more faith in Crosby finishing over .500 (LOL). Seriously I already hear of some issues in the program. That GCM (original Crosby tho) kid you are talking about, I hear some on the staff are playing politics and might not give him the run he needs. Did the same to the older brother. This comes straight from the Dad's mouth, no second hand info. As a Sophomore he was the leading receiver at GCM, so he can definitely catch the ball and pretty decent on the Bball court too. Well he better sick to football, cause he definitely aint gonna get love from that wanna be BBall coach (ain't worth saying the name). I guess the politic is remnants from the parents moving them 2 years ago, not a talent issue. Thus you have confirmed his abilities as a slot receiver.
  22. Great points of emphasis. You could do an Open Records request under the "the public information act". Sure they will try and stall and redact some info, but by law they have to release information. To include notes, emails and recording by all that's involved.
  23. This going to be interesting as a hire. I am not sure how things will work hiring someone that decided to retire then come back out of retirement. Seems like he is well qualified, but was he the best fit for a small town like Crosby (another thread needed for that discussion).
  24. Looks like that transfer portal didn't workout to well for Crosby this year. This has to be the first time not being in the playoffs in many many years. Team future don't look too bright, not a lot of returning varsity player for next year. Their biggest hope is realignment.
