Grown men spreading rumors. The same kids played all year long and were eligible per UIL rules. Upping further scrutiny by the UIL one of the transfers paperwork has not been done correctly making him ineligible. Typically the UIL doesn’t review transfers late in the season to avoid this type of situation and the heartbreak it causes the kids. Apparently they are about to start. Coach Egans has coached in Crosby for 20+ years and has always followed protocol. Ruining his integrity now makes zero sense.

Thanks for the updated info and perspective. I guess this explains Coach Egan’s Nov 2023 UIL public reprimand. In most cases many of the transfers are not legitimate, but the unwritten rule seems to be “look the other way”. 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

  2. What’s done in the dark will come to light. Hate it for those seniors that worked hard all year to get to this point of disappointment. What a way to end your senior season, them kids going to remember this for a long time.

Been living in Crosby all my life and never seen a situation like this.

i agree that all credit for success should go to the coaches. Likewise, when there is failure all the blame should go to the coaches too.

Getting word there is a possibility that this game may not happen. Waiting to hear about an ineligible player being played by Crosby this season. Could change things in regards to seeding.

    Stay tuned

I heard the same thing from a source at one of the schools in that district yesterday, but couldn't confirm. Heard it was one player from CE King and one from Channelview.

They split if I remember correctly. Won by 3 at home (I remember the chatter after the game) and lost in OT at Crosby but I don't remember by how much.

You are correct, it was a split last year. I been following Crosby bball since for over a decade and they pretty much always was in contention for the district title. Nowadays they are fighting for that 4th spot. The PJ Haggerty transfer from Goose Creek Memorial gave them a glimpse of the old days.

  5. The two year run with Coach P was from remnants of Coach Rio attracting talent to Crosby HS. The outside talent mixed with the local talent created a good tenure while Rio was here. Coach P didn't spend enough time here to establish the program which will attract (not recruit) talent.

I would go on to say Coach Rio was probably the best coach in Crosby history. Proof in the pudding, that why he is playing for a State title this week.

Let's not act like Willis hasn't been a successful head coach...we are talking about a guy who had a career record of 113-62 going into the year...he's been a head coach of a state champion and an state runner-up...he's got a strong track record...

Timing has to be considered as well...Willis was hired May 18..you start getting into May and the candidate pool is going to be quite limited...

I dont think any head coach hired could be fairly judged on what happens this year at Crosby because of the late hire, coaching staff almost 100% turned over and a team that already was a little down talent wise...The absolute worst thing Crosby can do now is make another coaching change at the end of the season IMO

Point well taken on his arrival time to Crosby. However there are some glaring things the coaching staff have missed. Regardless of time in the seat, how can an entire staff miss #14 abilities and line him up in the WR slot and use him primarily as a blocker. #14 been averaging over 150 yards the past few games. All one had to do is look at his Hudl highlights and know he should be a featured RB. Knowing the history of a school and people is very very important. Hate to harp on #14, but his dad 14.2 was a dynamic RB and his grandfather was the best RB in Crosby history (by some accounts). Genetics don’t always transfer, but it’s definitely something to know. Just like #11 Windfont, his Dad Chris was a beast at DE. Same as #2, his uncle was good at RB. I can go on and on, but hey what do I know….

Also, this is the QB many loyal cougar fans was calling to replace Myles and put him at WR position. How is that working out this year? I don’t ever remember Myles throwing 3 INT in a single game.

Not sure of many jobs that’s gonna pay you 100k and give you xx amount of years to figure it out. I would expect more from a coach with that win percentage. Not to truly compare, but Coach Preito came in late too.

According to his record he is a great coach, but might not been the best hire for Crosby. Time will tell if this was the best decision.

  7. “On the clock” is an analogy in reference to a draft when the team have to make a decision (NBA, NFL etc….). Sorry, guess it went over many heads 🤣🤣.
    1. Remain status quo- this system has not proven to work and potentially continue to lose community support and lower morale even further.

    2. Move on and “redo” their decision.

Accountability needs to be in order. More so now, those same decision makers are asking the community to trust them with an 85M bond. The last time the Admin had a large bond, well most know how that went…. The district is still suffering from that administration/board bad decisions. No one was truly held accountable and thus the athletic facilities are in shambles and IAW someone else’s statement the Bus barn/maintenance is having issues too.

As someone stated in this thread or another, this coach was 2-8 at his previous position. With all the layers the Supt stated was in place to hire an AD, it’s amazing how he came out as the lone finalist.

  8. 22 minutes ago, Eazy said:

That Senior class saw a State Final and now they see 0-7.  Quite a fall in just the last 2 years.

That 2021 class was "built" differently, no comparison. That's what you call a one-off. Even if the previous coach was still here, they would have been a 3/4 seed in district.

Truly I expected more from the defense, you have a 3 year letterman at the MLB spot and just a junior. There is truly a disconnect somewhere. 1 MS and 1 HS, the talent should be easily mustered and developed.

  9. At this point, there is nothing to salvage this season. The coaching staff need to start preparing for next year, give the "next up" QB varsity reps. It won't be any hurt to the current QB, he already have a baseball scholarship to TCU. On the other hand, he can start getting ready for baseball season and college. It's a win-win situation for everyone.

If the coach does not make this move, he must have already made up his mind that he will not be here next year.

So I need everyone on this thread to send in their apologies to 14.2. LMAO

Y’all are screwed! Her last statement quoting Hilary Clinton tells me all I need to know. Democrat …. Good Luck

If this process truly took place then what more can you ask for. A selection committee selected the lone finalist then she had a 1v1 interview with him. Sure she could have denied the committee work, and not select him. Then she would have caught backlash for that too. Seem like a lose lose situation to me.

Clearly thats the job of the AD and HC. However, that position in the district is arguably the biggest hire. When she does everything in her power to make him resign and then the next guy is faced with an awful situation, it is her fault. I do not blame Willis for this season's mishaps. It is his fault for not doing more research before taking the job. When interviewed by Dave Campbell's, he stated all the old Crosby BS that people on the outside seem to believe...... Crosby has so much talent, Crosby Is a one horse town with tons of community support, Crosby has always been successful, Crosby has great facilities.

These things are misguided at best and flat out lies at worst.

Where's the talent? It dang sure is no where to be found currently.

Cosby and Barret Station are two communities that feed one High School and are completely divided and do their best to not interact with one another. The current situation is only working to make that worse.

Crosby has been successful athletically in the past, but with the mishandlings of the district financially and with the constant turn over of employees they are going to have a hard time finding willing people to hire. less than 5 years ago they layed off 100 employees at Christmas with no warning. These are local teachers and coaches. Last year her decision to run off Prieto left them to hire 26 coaches. How long before the well is dry and no one will want to work in this situation?

Damn 26 coaches? Well then, Crosby Football have more coaches than varsity players. Hell that's more than the fans in attendance, minus family members (LOL)

Imma need for you to pick an argument. First you say its the Supt fault, now you are saying there is currently no talent in CHS.

How can a small town have 2 leagues and struggle to fill varsity positions at the HS level? Seems like there is a broken link between Youth to HS football. Let me guess its the Supt fault too.

Preito came in late like Willis too, but he still was able to win....

Same person who cussed out one of their best football players for hugging his former coach? Yeah I've heard.

Now that kid is recovering from a life threatening car accident that caused a severe concussion and may well have ended his football career. Bet he aint fighting to come back and keep playing for someone who does stuff like that.

I'm sure these types of decisions are exactly what you're looking for from the director of football operations.

Okay we have something we can agree on (LMAO). Where is the board in this process, they should have or could have not approve this too.

Coaches with the same 10 year old head sets on the side line.

Again, She has been there just over 3 years.... and you say this been going on for 10. Make it make sense, I bet no one had anything to say the other 7 years.

Disclaimer: I do not know the Supt nor have a kid in CISD. I just pay taxes as many others do.

So Dunn went to Crosby HS all 4 years. I wouldnt consider that a "Move in" but whatever.

Don't pass the buck. Don't blame someone else. Her mantra that first year was "this is now!' implying: that was then, this is now. Ok, then take ownership of the problems you inherited with the position and face them. She's been in that position for several years at this point and the facilities are degrading, not improving. There was sewage backed up in the press box sinks and bathrooms for a home game this year. Turf still needs to be replaced. Track is being repaired with cans of flex seal. There's dozens of more examples.

    Yes, everyone has an ego.

Hers has destroyed the athletic programs of a district that was thriving in this department when she was hired.

Not sure where she going to get the money from when the ISD was in financial straits. Perhaps the newly proposed bond will address what you have stated.

Let's be fair, there was no money left over to continue with the much needed improvements you have pointed to. To blame here for the facilities is quote a STRETCH. Simply, the money ran out. Crosby was short teachers a few years ago... That seemed to been her focus. Sure Football is King in Texas but....

2021 was not an anomaly. 2021 was the result of  a good class of kids, a single move in and a staff that came together to out work the staffs of every team they faced. This was in the midst of covid. While many staffs did everything they could to take as much of the year off, the staff that Prieto had hired only a year prior did everything they could to continue to practice as often as the UIL and other BS restrictions would allow. Did we have some exceptional HS players? Yes. Deniquez Dunn and Reggie Branch are among the best HS players I've had the chance to be around. But, the 2021 team did not have nearly as many college committed athletes as the current Crosby team does.

Prieto was run off. Plain and simple. He was never allowed to implement the changes he asked for despite his success. There was still CODE RED painted on the walls of the cafeteria and Gym 2 years into his tenure as coach despite this being the mantra of the previous staff. The facilities of Crosby ISD are awful and frankly unsafe and unsanitary. The field house where the varsity dresses for home games is infested with mice and only has one working toilet. The showers are used as storage for the old weight room equipment. the practice fields are useless because they are never mowed and more closely resemble a vacant farm plot than an athletic facility of a program that played 31 games in two years.

It is my opinion that the Superintendent had her fragile little ego bruised when all of her church friends asked her about Prieto and his success more often than the success of the ideas she had implemented. She did nothing to keep him when he was being offered other jobs. She made this business personal instead of doing her job which is to employ and keep quality employees.

You do know that Dunn was a move-in in the 8th grade and Branch transferred in the 11th grade. 2021 didn't get the BIG commitment partly due to COVID and Collegiate players being granted additional years of eligibility. The 2nd part was due to the coaching staff, Coach Mann from Coach Rio staff was a magician in getting kids placed in college. Preto staff didn't have the connection like that.

Class of 2021 college players: Jaylen Herman, Johnathon Fusilier, Reggie Branch, Dunn, Emonte Wilson, Sir Hill, Micheal Ray all went on to play college football. I might even be missing a couple players too, 7 players isn't too bad.

The facility issues you stated are remnants from previous administrations with the Bond usage (mis-usage). The Bond that Dr Moore was in charge of was supposed to take care of all that you have pointed out. The school was supposed to have a Natatorium along with the renovation of the Field House and other things. Money wasn't truly stolen, just used more in some places than others.

I am sure she has an ego, who doesn't.

So are you saying more non Caucasians have made the program less successful? I’m not sure I’m following you.

That's what you said, nothing to interpret. Just stating facts about the ISD #s. Don't argue with me, argue with the #s. I referenced the numbers because of other people observation about participation #s were low. It's not about race but actual facts. When your school's majority demographic is from an ethnicity that traditionally don't play a particular sport(s), quite naturally the participation #s are going to be low.
