1. Congrats Colby!  I know you have been working very hard to earn this scholarship.  You deserve all that comes your way! Dave Morrow
 2. 78 Stang, Why don't you sign your name to your posts?  I get tired of people taking pot shots at these guys and not signing their name.  I have had the pleasure of watching both coaches the past year plus.  Might be a bold statement, but I think Fackler is the best "on-field" coach in this area.  The way he manages a game is tremendous.  Sam is one of the best at preparing players for games.  He is an excellent trainer, in that he prepares players on all aspects of the game.  He teaches players that preparation is much more than throwing the ball around prior to a game. To say that these coaches are not teachers, goes to show how little you know about their craft.  Both coaches teach young men how to become responsible men.  Both hold their players accountable and show them the importance of maturity on the field and off the field.  They teach that it is OK to fail as long as you learn something from it, and get back in the game. As far as them getting paid to share their knowledge, it is their profession.  Just as there are Doctors, Lawyers, CPAs, and police officers, there are trainers.  I feel the education my son can learn from these guys, is worth them getting paid.  If I wanted to get in shape, I might hire a personal trainer and a dietician to teach me how to best get in shape.  Same thing with these guys.  I feel the game of baseball is an excellent trainer of young men on the importance of hard work, work ethic, decision making, team work, and many other ideals.  These guys are excellent teachers of all aspects of the game of baseball and life. Finally, your most recent post highlights that you don't get it.  I personally have seen 16 year old kids, come into our baseball program, with little more than "potential".  By the time they are seniors, they are attracting colleges and getting offers.  Is that due to the coach?  NO! But the coach can teach the player how to improve his game and how to prepare mentally and physically for that one opportunity.  More importantly, coaches can instill the work ethic necessary to achieve those dreams.  EXACTLY like a good teacher does with a student.  Sorry, but players are not "born with talent".   I have seen a number of marginal players work their tails off and improve their game to now be college baseball worthy.  Likewise, I have seen many a "superstar" fall by the wayside due to drugs, girls, grades, etc.  Coaches/Teachers prepare their students for the next level, whatever that is.  In baseball, a coach can take a player with talent and get the most of that talent out of him, just like a teacher does.  Sam and Chris do just that.  I have seen it many times. Back to the topic, I think Coach Riojas is a good coach.  Two years ago, he got the most of the team he had in their playoff run. I am sure he will land on his feet.  He has many talents.  Wishing the WOS baseball program continued success. Dave Morrow

He works as hard at practice and warm ups before the game as he does during the game. Great kid and should be playing for a while!!
Been fortunate enough to watch him the past two summers.  He is a leader on the field and a fierce competitor, to go along with his athletic abilitity.  Great kid, great family (plus Dad makes a mean pulled pork sandwich).  He deserves all the recognition because he worked hard to earn it.
 4.
Scouts, eat your hearts out...  He's only a junior too!
This junior class is a good one for Brenham.  We faced them (Washington County) in the Junior League state tourney 3 years ago, and they were stacked.  I remember Stegent and Kubeczka from that team.  They were very athletic and hit the ball well.  Assuming they all still play, Brenham should have a good year next year as well.
Last summer, Brett Brown pitched for us in the USA Baseball-West Championships.  I had a gun on him (Stalker, not Jugs) and his first inning pitches were 87-88 MPH.  More impressive, his 95th pitch of the game (he got pulled after 97 pitches) was 86 MPH.  Brett is an incredible athlete, as is Duplant.

 8.
St Pius:  29-3-1?!  Good lord! I thought Kelly would have a better team than this.  They have some really good players...maybe there just aren't 9 of them?
They have one senior starter.  It happens when you are a young team.
 9. Congrats Steve.  Glad your coaching career is off to a great start!
 10.
What is the WARNER kids record and ERA since Kelly is now 1-5 and 8-10?
Actually, he has the one district win.  Has one loss and one no decision.  His ERA is probably fairly low.  His one loss was an error filled game where he had two innings extended due to errors.  Preston, and all the pitchers are on a pitch count.  So the errors help him reach pitch count sooner.  At the plate he is having a very good year.  The upside to playing the good Houston teams is that there are usually a number of scouts at these games.  So, regardless of the team struggles, Preston is getting great visibility and having a solid year on the mound and at the plate.

It just takes a good team who works together ! It takes a team to win a game not just a chosen few.  I bet Bumstead had a big ole smile on that face when he struck out the Biggio's !!  Congrats to all the boys !
Ummm....didn't Warner used to be at West Brook?  Just sayin....
Ummm....yes he did.  But that is more due to a WestBrook issue than a recruiting issue.  Probably shouldn't open that can of worms on a public website.  Just sayin...
Oh get over yourself.
13.
Why doesnt Kelly High School recruit? Is that illegal? Are these kids attending houston private schools know they are going to be taught the baseball game and looked at by those scouts? I am asking for more insight on that school,
Kelly does not recruit because, frankly, we don't have the money to give out scholarships.  It costs roughly $6-7000 per year to attend Kelly, which is cheap compared to costs of the schools we play.  You touched on the upside to playing for Kelly against those schools.  Last night, there were a number of scouts in attendance at the game.
 14. Bumstead came in to get the save in the 7 th.  3 up three down including striking out 2 Biggio's.
 15.

That's great but let me ask you this......if you had the cash where would you send you're baby boy?????to a select coach? No sir..hall of fame big league top dawg,Kelly go get the boy's and be proud of what talent you have earned other than have bought. Just my opinion!!!!!
Kelly doesn't recruit?
If Kelly recruited, do you think they would be getting beaten 12-2, 13-2, and 9-1 in district play?  You want to see recruiting?  Come to a Kelly game sometime and see who they play in district.  Then you will see recruiting. St. Thomas' starting shortstop/pitcher is from Florida, committed to Univ. of Georgia.  He came to play his senior year for Biggio.  Lookin to get drafted.  Conor Bigio is going to Notre Dame, Cavan Biggio, a sophomore, is going to be better than Conor, and has Div I college written all over him.  Hunter Kopycinski, their junior catcher, will also be a Div I candidate.  They dress 24 for varsity, with a JV and freshman team.  Kelly has 34 players total.  Kelly might have one Div. I player and 2-3 JUCO players. Kelly does not have the money to recruit.  They also, definitely are lacking the financial resources that St. Thomas, Houston Christian, and St. Pius have for their baseball programs.  Kelly is dealing with these issues.  That is not the basis of this topic, though it seems to be turning into that discussion for some reason. Sharkfutbol was simply saying come out to Kelly tonight to see a hall of fame player, watch some (hopefully) good baseball, and enjoy a nice evening at the ball park.  Period.
 16.

Droiullard solo HR.  3-1 Vidor after 2
so much for the theory that he would struggle with 4a pitching. this kid is a beast regardless of what classification hes playing in!
Last summer, Zach played in the 16U USA Baseball tournament against some of the best pitchers from the West.  He hit two home runs out of the Texas Rangers Spring Training facility.  This kid can play against 3A, 4A, 5A or whatever A you want to put out there.  Give him time to get acclimated to the new school, coach, and teammates.  Then after that, look out.  This young man is an awesome person and an exceptional player.
 17. Blanchard and Darling.  Quite the lineup Biggio has.  6-7 Division I commits or prospects.  Their starting shortstop and ace pitcher, is a transfer in from Florida.  Committed to Georgia.  Must be nice to recruit from Florida for your baseball club.
 18. Really, there is no scientific, nor even accurate way to rank these teams.  Each team plays a completely different level of competition(5A vs 4A vs 3A vs 2A vs TAPPS).  So how can you be scientific?  Kind of like throwing NCAA Div I A, AA, NAIA, all in the same pot and then ranking them.  Really can't do it scientifically or objectively. Just take it for what it is, a point of discussion.  The folks who vote on these polls do a great job with the limited resources at their disposal. Keep up the good work!
 19. The problem with rankings this early is that its hard to separate the good teams from those that have yet to play tough teams.  PNG with 2 losses, being #4, yet 0-2, could really anger teams like Livingston, who beat PNG and is 2-0 in district. But looking at overall records, I agree, for the most part.  Tough to do.  All of you in the rankings are doing a good job.
