I like our chances to finish top 2 in district possibly challenging Newton for the DC and probably getting a rematch against Newton in the Region 3 championship. I think whoever wins region 3 has a good chance to win it all but I got Newton as the favorite in region 3 right now

Woodville Eagles are heading into 2025 with a new HC after losing coach Rob who's been the most successful coach we've had. He's been replaced with coach Heath Clawson. Coach Clawson's head coaching career hasn't been super impressive but he's had a couple good years as an assistant at Aledo and I think he has some ideas that may work pretty well for Woodville. Clawson hired coach Clay Mayo as OC for 2025. Coach Mayo's resume doesn't look that great other than a year or 2 at Summer Creek but his son will be a good sized sophomore who might be able to help us out up front. Clawson also landed legendary coach Bill Hoppers as the 2025 DC for the Woodville Eagles. Hoppers has around 60 years coaching experience. Had a ton of winning seasons at A&M Consolidated and Navasota. Also has 6 state championship appearances and 3 rings. Would have loved to have him 10 or 15 years ago when he might have had more energy to put into it but we'll take him now as well. Woodville retained 2 or 3 assistants from last year's staff and hired a couple new young coaches I feel pretty good about as well. Woodville players and coaching staff are ready to roll for 2025. Go Eagles! 🦅

Maybe one or 2 but a lot less than last year. Last year was supposed to be Anahuac's year honestly but I guess things happen. OF's the favorite followed by Hardin but I wouldn't completely count EC out even though they lost their QB

Understood. But 7on7 helps improve your passing game and secondary play which normally comes in handy playoff time durring the season. Would've been nice to have everybody there to get good reps in against decent competition but oh well. Definitely got something to work with but got a lot of work to do

Woodville lost C/D championship to Wolf City. Score was 19-18. Sounds like a decent showing but still got a lot of work to do.

Im thinking DB cause I think that's where he's being recruited for the next level. He's a pretty good QB in my opinion also though

I wasn't referring to the options given to the kids dude. I was referring to the options of areas available for him to have the kids do the exercise in.

I think your probably a bball guy and bear crawls in general are more of a football thing anyway. The guy you quoted was suggesting the field next to the track which is turf.

It's not the most popular thing but it's not completely unheard of. My point is a track is not a good idea but turf is not much better. So pointing out a lack of common sense while suggesting turf doesn't make sense to me

Bro I really don't feel like even entertaining you because your motives aren't genuine at all but to answer your question there was only one girl complaining at Caldwell because there was only one girl participating in the exercise. Meanwhile there were 10 complaints about a bear crawl incident in Crandall a couple years back.

Athletes don't always complain about these type of injuries. That type of behavior is just not encouraged in athletic circles. You know that. Mothers don't always take their children to the ER for burns/blisters and if they go to the ER they're not always referred to the burn unit. Scenarios just don't always play out like this but if they did lots of coaches would constantly be in trouble. There was a 7th grade girl who publicly complained of 2nd degree burns she got from bear crawls on a turf field last April in Caldwel though. And turf gets hotter than grass or asphault regardless of what type of filler is used by the way

Do you know if the turf hasn't caused burns/blisters in the past?

It's easy for us to be super critical of the guy's mistake from the outside looking in but these suggestions make it clear some of us might not have done much better. The track definitely wasn't a good idea but the turf might not have been much better. Yall know how hot turf gets?

OK yall still gave up 100 plus and half the 165 was because EW barely even put a defense on the field

Rather get shut out in state game than give up 130 plus first 3 rounds of playoffs.

He's just a young guy who made a mistake and has allready paid for it more than some others in the past have. There was a coach in Alabama who had a simular issue a while back and he didn't even lose his job till he voluntarily resigned later. Much less get criminally charged. Like I said the kids hands will eventually heal. You can't erase what has allready happened but you can try to prevent it from happening again. And he won't be able to do it at WISD again because he's been fired. There's nothing else to be done at this point unless your gonna go charge all the teachers who have made kids do bear crawls previously. Hey let's charge the cheerleading instructors who allow little girls to do cartwheels and what not on the track Saturday evenings at this point. Like, what are we doing here? This stuff has to be fair across the board. Can't just have super severe punishment for certain people and let others get away scott-free.
