  1. The organization is run by Phil Cross who has numerous coaches such as Jason Greer-Advance Scout St. Louis Cardinals, Phil has a cell phone with speed dials to Rice,Texas,Texas A&M Ole Miss. you name it he knows them, and has developed a great and talented pool of players.
  2. Update on the Local boys as the season opens this Saturday @ Wharton JC. LCM: Kyle Cassidy has now join the Roadrunners and will contribute from the bullpen, he enrolled @ the semester break. Jake Rowell- is seeing time @ catcher as well as 1b, could be the starting DH in the opener Jerrod Dugas- is competing @ SS and 2b and could possible be in the starting lineup in the season opener. Nederland Chris Laird has been competing @ SS and 3b West Brook Mark Serna appears to be in the 4 man rotation in the OF after a very strong Fall at the plate. BJ Armstrong- appears to be the starting CF Good Luck to these locals as they get ready for a 56 game schedule on a very strong team that should compete for the regional title.
  3. Hicks and VJ are awesome, but to say he has a FULL ride at a D1 is not correct, unless he is receiving academic aid.
  4. Would that be Angelina Roadrunners?? They currently have 3 LCM Bears, 2 West Brook Bruins, and 1 Ned. Bulldog as well as 1 BH Eagle
  5. I have known Rodrick for years and to say he is a class act is a understatement...........I give him all the respect in the world, he always sought out my son and talked with him about his game and what he see's. Rod, Jerrod says hello from College Baseball where you helped him understand the game. Dale
  6. Houston Heat: Voted Number #3 organization in the entire country, and the list of players in the last 3 years drafted or sent to D1 or D1 JUCO is really amazing..
  7. Let's remember you are debating the velocity of a SOPH., I have watched this kids off season workout a couple of times within the last month and his arm speed is incredible, the first player that comes to mind is Roy Oswalt, now I know he is not Roy O. my point is a small frame and a very live arm. Based on what I am seeing he could sit at 85-86 very easy all year and he will hit 90 on occasions, but again remember we are talking about a soph. Barring any injury his future is as bright as any I have ever been around. And he is a fantastic kid.
  8. Berkman should be thrilled to death over the lineup and power Ed Wade has assembled.: Projected 2008: And 2008 opportunities 1. Bourn-CF, 30sb 2.Kaz-2b, 30sb 3.Tejada-SS, 30hrs 4.Berkman-1b, 35hrs 5.Lee-LF, 35hrs 6.Pence-RF, 30 hrs 7.Wittington-3b 25hrs 8.Towles-C a average above .220 like Ausmus normally does
  9. BMTsoulja Have you seen the Bears and if so what do you think??
  10. Believe it or not I just read a majority of the report on MLB.com and it has details of Roger Clemens being injected at the Toronto dome in those famous hotel rooms inside were he lived. Also he was doing it when he returned to the Astros. It states he could not give the shots so he had his trainer do it and guess who turned on him, but he has still been training roger in 2007. Bad part about it he always lived by his famous workouts and how tough they were and that is what made him able to pitch as long as he did.......failed to mention chemical assistance. Also very detailed as well on Bonds and his injections, and cream. There is a part on Tejada but no proof of anyone knowing he actually injected it but lots of conversations with him and others about obtaining it.
  11. You would think that Ed Wade did his homework about this report and I would bet Tejada is named but to what extent, From all the reports I am hearing the report comes down harder on the Owners and PA. Could it be that Jose Canseco was right all along???? I cannot imagine how baseball could suspend players for stuff done years ago, plus are these players passing the drug screens now??? One of the strongest recommendations is for there to be a outside contractor giving and overseeing the drug screens. But think about it, to get into a stadium or facility like a Minute made or Shea Stadium you would have to notify security and be approved to enter, nothing like advanced warnings........
  12. How can you not mention Orangefield and what they have done so far this year??? Coach Wrinkel has done a outstanding job with these kids.
  13. Word is there will be at least 80 players named, and that congress thinks the owners and Players association looked the other way and are the reason this got out of control.
  14. The pitching is not that bad, the need a #5 1.Oswalt 2.Backe 3.Wandy 4.Sampson 5.????? Bullpen already recevied some help in other deals, Quails, Brocail, at the end. Patton was OK not as strong as people think, our minor league is very weak and in a normal time Patton would not be in your Top 10. I really like it, and I think it will attrack some FA pitchers knowing the lineup is so strong, you can have a off night on the hill and still win a 10-8 ballgame. Look for the Astros to led the National league in Home Runs and probably runs scored.
  15. I think it is a great trade and it will do what the Astros organization hopes it does and that is put fans in the stands, Tejada can flat out hit, everyone says he is on his way down I think you need to review his stats, and with the short porch in left, look for him to hit 30 HR's, add that to the power of Berkman and Lee you are looking at 100 HR's from 3 players. Tremendous speed in Bourn and Kaz which will cause pitchers to pay attention to them when the Big Boys are up. I would not jump the gun on thinking he is playing third I know the Astros love Willingham, they have until midnight tonight or next Wed. to offer Everett a contract....Don't see that happening. look for a package deal of Burke and Everett to bring in another starting pitcher.
  16. He could have all of that talent but will never see the floor @ UT until he does it The Longhorn way and that is why they are so good. Rick Branes will make him mature or go away. I hope he does great because he could open many doors for younger players in SETX.
  17. I agree totally with JohnnyT60, we both have had our kids participate in the crazies section and it is fun to watch the spirit. Heck the Head Coach for the last 5 years which would be 2 loved the fact these students cheer the way they do, in fact they appauld there support. The certain indiviuals who are in charge of watching the students really do go overboard. They do not have 1/4 that kind of discipline in the school during normal hours. If the Coaches think it is over the line let the coaches point it out. And please stop using the standard BS about LCM is trying to make the students have more class. Turn on you TV this weekend watch Duke, North Carolina, UCLA, Texas they go crazy and this is some of the finest colleges in the country that produce our leaders. Let the kids cheer and have fun, if they threaten someone remove them otherwise backoff and let them support the TEAM.
  18. I have been meaning to get here and post this for a while: A TREMENDOUS CONGRATS to the PLAYOFF bound Lumberton Raiders: For years your team and fans have taken some tough shots and for the players and especially your Srs. to continue to work hard and never loose focus is a credit to yourself and a outstanding Coaching staff. Enjoy the ride one game at a time, Bear Country will be pulling for you. Good Luck as well to the Indians and Broncos.....
  19. You have me confused with another poster, I have not ripped the coaches at all on this board, it is a observation, I did not call out any coach. I undersatnd what they are trying to do but just like I stated you have to be willing to make adjustments. And the entire thread is about learning how to win, there is a difference.
  20. Not even sure the Bears know how to win.... Kicker and a few said something is missing, it is knowing how to win, taking advantage of unbelievable turnovers, scoring with them and putting the other team away, point made against Central, game should have been 21-0 in the first quarter but again the lack of creative playcalling just baffles me. The QB/Center exchange has got to get better it seems everytime a crucial situation comes up the ball ends up on the ground. The second half of the central game I was very impressed with the Bear defense, adjustments made at halftime and 55 went crazy, kudos the the DC for his ability to adjust. PNG if they watch a film only has to put 10 men in the box and they win, LCM will only throw if they need more than 10 yards on 3rd down.
  21. Well just returned form the first Official workout for the Roadrunners, Couple of interesting notes: Pitching- Watch a bullpen session for about half of them with the rest throwing today, they look very solid should be the strongest point of the team Catching- 6 catchers working for the spot with locals Jake Rowell and BJ Myers in the mix, would not be surprised to see both work some other positions as well. Infield- Loads of talent some really good athletes, with locals Jerrod Dugas and Chris Laird working @ SS and Josh Cabra @ 2nd, would not be surprised to see Dugas get some work in CF as well. Outfield- really not able to see much work here do to them only doing drills and not pregame. Angelina should be very strong this year, wood bat workout showed the ones that were really able to swing it and again the locals looked strong
  22. DC did transfer to Panola after a redshirt year @ Lamar, Schooling from Silsbee and Powell for PNG are also there. Lot's of SETX talent in East Texas trying to move further in the sport we all love. Angelina reports today with the first practice scheduled for Sunday.
  23. The site is down whom is he palying for? I thought he had signed with McNeese St.?
