1. To answer the question of this thread ask yourself this... Has he had time to get his own kind of players in the system? The answer is yes....Has he had the support of university administration, alumni and fans? My answer is yes again....Are we significantly better than we were 4 or 5 years ago? In my opinion the answer is no....I thank Roc for his effort but I believe its time for a change....
  2. A 50,000 seat stadium is not impressive when there are only 11,000 fans in it...I would prefer a stadium we could actually fill to at least 75% on a week to week basis....30,000 to 32,000 at the most, and that's being extremely optimistic, until we see if the fan support is there long term.  My fear is that we had alot of "curious fans" this year and that half of those won't come back next season...I hope not but this is SE Texas and our support of anything other than high school football has been spotty at best....Hoping for the best though....

ok. But do you remember them getting beat by warren, or kountze, or hardin, or buna? No. Dont hate on woodville. Anyone who saw the Newton/Woodville game last year knows that Woodville outplayed newton for most of that game. It was a great game with two great teams. Newton slipped by with a win.
For years Woodville has had a wealth of talented athletes but no team discipline...This has been absent since the great Coach Houston retired...In alot of districts you can get away with talent alone but in a district with EC, Anahuac and Newton you cannot...until Woodville proves it can put it all together I have a hard time picking them to get over the hump and beat one of these 3 teams for a playoff spot.  As for the 2011 season I think EC, Anahuac and Newton will be the top three again...EC because their EC, Anahuac because Barbay has build a strong program and Newton will bounce back strong after finally getting over their terrible loss...

He would have come back to Houston but the Astros made it clear he wasn't wanted back.  Good for Lance, he deserves more than the also-rans that the astros have become.
Time to move on....I enjoyed watching the Puma play but when it was his turn to be a team leader he failed...afraid we're in the middle of our wandering time in the desert....

I think it is a coach from Legacy that is coming with the new baseball coach they just signed! I do not think the baseball coach has been coaching for a couple of years, but he  is a class act and baseball guy. His dad lead Chester to the state quarter-finals at least twice in the eighties and then came back in 96 and led Chester to an undefeated year in the regular season that year. The football guy is a trustworthy leader of young men I am sure. This is a promising accomplishment for Chester and will bring good ethics and respect to the program and kids there. I do not know the football guys name. Mark Young will coach baseball.
Great hire for Chester....Mark is a good man who loves the Chester community..wishing Chester all the best...hang on as long as you can...small towns revolve around their schools and when the school goes so does the town...Good Luck and Best Wishes..

kids want to win....if the kids didnt talk to the coach then yes it was a bad move on their part.  on the other hand if the kids have already talked to coach and nothing happened, then yeah they have the right to walk off the field.  lets not blame the kids so fast for walking off the field there had to be something more that we arent getting to this story for that to happen.
I respectfully disagree.....to walk off the field in the middle of a competition because you or your teammates disagree with the coach is not right.  It should have been handled after the game or even before if this is a problem that has been building up.  Trying to show the coach up to prove a point is disrespectful to the school, teammates, the opposing team, fans and coaches....But unfortunately these are the times we now live in.....sad...I hope it works out for all parties involved...Good Luck Lions...

    Hopefully back to coaching school!!
    H :o
I just gotta ask, did he forget how to coach after his 600th win or before.Give me a break, a guy doesn't win 600 games and not know how to coach.Coaches can do a lot of things but sometimes they can't stop players from overlooking opponents. The percentages I heard the Lady Eagles shot against Hardin is on the players not the coach. They were already warming up for the regional final against EC.
I agree with whsalum....you don't get 600 wins in your career by playing all weak teams and by not knowing how to coach....he brought the Woodville girls program to new heights over the last couple of years...Blame it on what it was...a  poor night of shooting and looking ahead to EC....too much trash talking between those two schools and fans led to both going out of the playoffs way too soon...
