1. I thought this was a Silsbee/WB thread.  Is anyone else shocked that a 3A school crushed a 5A school?!!  I give Silsbee their props, as I know they're always good, but for a 3A school to beat a 5A school by 26 pts is crazy.  Just as others have questioned if HJ should drop their football program (which I disagree with) and concentrate on their basketball program, why don't folks ask the same question about WB's basketball program?  This is a huge feather in Silsbee's cap but absolutely shameful for WB.
 2.

So let's continue to pass the blame. It's gone from the police to the coaches and to the parents. Other than who's really to blame (thug players), I blame BISD administrators. Did they not see this similar behavior when the Ozen players damaged a locker room to the tune of several thousands of dollars after the Barbers Hill game? Come on, folks, these kids only do what they're allowed to do. BISD administrators could have stomped the punks who caused the damage 2 weeks ago, and the message would have been received by the rest of the team, but that could've/would've resulted in kids being dismissed from the team, and we don't want the wrong message sent to these kids. So by doing nothing, the administrators' message to the players was essentially to continue to act that way because we don't care. Message was received and they acted accordingly. Yet another bad example of how BISD operates.
I knew at some point there would be at least one to turn this into a B.I.S.D. Thing.  The vandalism that you speak of didn't happen, it is a lie.  Yesterday's events were horrible and shed a negative light on both programs period.  This has not been a pattern of behavior for Ozen or any other BISD school.  Just as I didn't blame Port Neches ISD for the brawl started there by PNG players vs. Central 3 years ago, I think it's unfair for you to blame BISD for the lack of restraint shown by players from both teams.  The matter should be dealt with, those responsible should be corrected swiftly, with a strong hand. Your post is another bad example of the divisive venom that continues to spread throughout the region. I for one look forward to moving ahead and making progress towards a better unified community and moving passed the past.  I am so thankful that I am not alone, and that the dividers are becoming more scarce.
Nice attempt to deflect attention.  Criticizing the truth is the oldest trick in the book, but what you call "dividers" are, in fact, the folks who are tired of reading or hearing about the continuing behavior of the administrators and some students of the district, while at the same time, watching their tax dollars be spent on legal expenses.  Again, the kids will only do what is allowed.  If they don't feel any threat of punishment, then they will push the limits every time.  The same rings true for some administrators.  The day is nearing when new rules by new leaders will flush out a lot of this trashy behavior.  Once that is done, then the real purpose of educating the youngsters can occur.  Just saying what so many others are thinking.
 3. Police officers have permission the day they put on the uniform, VP.  No administrator can prevent them from enforcing the law, regardless of what you think.  Fighting, referred to as Assault in the Texas Penal Code, is against the law.  However, I'm pretty sure security officers, on the other hand, can be told what they can and can not do.  Based on what I read, Baytown Police Officers were at the game.  I know some administrators believe they own every aspect of every school-related event, but that's just not reality.
 4. I heard the same thing.  Damage was estimated at or near $3,000, but I haven't heard what, if anything, happened to ozen's players who did it or the coaches who allowed it to happen.
 5.
there was no need to use pepper spray, it was a sad situation that this was a method used to seperate a Ozen player who ran over to the LaMarque player and tackled him, before the LM players ran to separate them...  :-[. If the Camera's were still rolling this should be an interesting UIL investigation to see why a police officer had to spray mace on high school players.
I find it rather sickening for untrained people to decide when and where pepper spray should be used.  Since you know so much about when trained officers should use a tool they've been trained to use, then maybe you should become a police chief or lawyer so the officers would have an expert to keep them in line.  I'm sure if the officers didn't break up the fight and a player would have been seriously hurt, then you would question why the officers didn't use everything in their power to stop the thugs from fighting.  Geeeezzzz
 6. I find it rather disturbing (but not surprising) that folks want to blame police officers for doing their job.  Police officers are required to be officers of the law 24 hrs a day.  Pepper spray is used to gain compliance and, at times, crowd control.  Do you think, after seeing punches thrown and helmets being used as weapons, that the officers needed to gain compliance and control the crowd?  If they sat on the sidelines and merely watched as some on this thread have said they should've done, then those same folks would be questioning why the officers didn't intervene when someone got hurt.  Personally, after the videotape is reviewed, I'd like to see players involved on both sides suspended for a period of time.  Yes, this would mean LM players would miss next week's game and ozen's players would miss some basketball games, but until discipline is forcefully instilled, things won't change.  Regardless, don't be so quick to blame the police every time they do their job.  Playing that card every time says a lot about the complainers, and quite frankly, not taken serious. Lastly, I'd say both districts were certainly represented well yesterday but not on the field.  Unfortunately, players don't appreciate the fact they represent more than just themselves every time they put on a jersey.  That goes for coaches, too.  Does anybody know if any of the players who destroyed Barbers Hill locker room two weeks ago received any punishment?
 7. I agree that BISD was certainly represented yesterday.
 8. I attended the Lumberton/LM game several yrs ago. LM acted pretty bad during that game, too, but there wasn't a brawl after Lumberton put a smackdown on them. You would think the LM players would've wanted a fight after being sent home. The fact is the LM players did want to fight, but the difference between the Lumberton players that game and ozen's players yesterday was discipline. Lumberton coaches & administrators wouldn't have put up with that behavior, and the players knew it.
yep- pg
OMG....I thought dove's kids play at OZ now. I can't keep up with all of the transferring going on between those schools.
