Jasper by 50!!!!
No way the Hawks can stay on the same floor as the Dawgs!
It's over, it's over. HJ, don't show up! You'll regret it.
(now, back to you regular programming) ;D
Poor, AAW.
-
Settle down AAW!!!!!!! You are having to bump this topic because the board is dead since Ozen lost!!!!!!! : : :
Who is Ozen?
-
Turner - MVP
Robinson - Offensive MVP
?? - Defensive MVP
Benard - 1st team
Burrell - 1st team
Ricossa - 2nd team or Newcomer of the Year
-
I'd pick Robinson over Benard for MVP any day, BUT...I'd also pick Jacoby Turner over Robinson!! In my humble opinion, Turner should be 21-3A's MVP.
-
I agree with Turner being MVP. His "beastiness" is quite impressive.
What happened to the pure shooting of the past?? I feel most shooters today do not practice true form but rely on their lopsided knuckle curve of a shot to go in. Repetition folks. Coaches need to teach mechanics and not rely on luck or alley-oop dunks.
-
Jarvis '08 is better than Jarvis '09. I vote him co-MVP with Robinson. Jacoby Turner is not far behind.
-
I will gladly eat crow. With all of Silsbee's athletes, I really thought HJ would get run out of the gym. Congrats Hawks!
-
Want to read comments about the title of this thread but it seems the moderators' bantering overrides the topic...again. Pick up the phone if you want to chit chat.
Back on topic...Silsbee wins by 20+; just too many athletes.
-
Plain and simple, Silsbee is much better and this is their year. HJ is not even close to HJ teams of the past. Hawks will be the #2 seed in the district going into the playoffs and should, therefore, begin scouting their first round playoff opponent.
-
Control of the district is clearly in Silsbee's hands. They have way more athletes than HJ. It would take a catastrophe of biblical proportions for Silsbee to lose a district game. HJ will lose big to Silsbee at Silsbee and make the playoffs as the #2 seed from the district but will not get past Silsbee in the regional tournament. This by no means says HJ is horrible, as they are clearly better than the remaining teams in the district. It means they should continue to fight but don't expect much in the head to head matchup with Silsbee.

How in the world am I whining? I am saying I understand they have to release the name and as a member of the media who needs that law I want them to release it. It would be a blow to our operations if these laws are changed and tampered with, I get that.
What I am saying and I said this in the very opening of this thread, as a PN-G grad and resident I don't care who is on the list because it does me now good. I can't hire the person I think it should be. I voted on the school board and have every year since I turned 18. I voted for those people to make this decision for me. They are my voice and I trust their decision. If I don't and do not like future decisions, then I'll vote another way. I thought that was kinda smart?
Do you want your voice and the people you trust to blatantly violate the law? I would hope your profession would lead you to support the right side of this issue. I know you bleed purple (and a lil red & orange now and then), but come on.
-
I know they HAVE to release the names. I know as a member of the media for many years what the FOI laws are. My opinion has always and will always be, what will the list do besides cure curiosity and enflame egos? Nothing.
OLGabe, I know you're smarter than the whining you type here. What don't you understand about the law? It's clear. Whatever their reason for not publishing the list is completely irrelevant, so why even bring it up? The law is clear. Use your opinion and position to legislate for a law change but don't lower yourself to the level of those who perceive themselves to be above the law.
-
Yea but their not going in that Direction.
Well, if you agree that it wouldn't be worth adding the cost in this situation, you must agree it doesn't make much sense for a district in financial turmoil to keep it, either. There are some good things that are going to get lost in the shuffle and maybe later, when the district has an extra $2,000,000 in their pocket, they can bring it back, but overall, getting rid of the program is needed right now.
Coop, they're going in the right direction here, like it or not. They can't keep spending money on things that can be cut back a bit. People have argued it's only $16,000 per year they're saving, but that's a good chunk of change, and they are going to have to chip away at the massive defecit. I don't think there's a $2,000,000 worthless program that they can cut to get back on track, but there are a lot of little things they can do to save money, and this is one of them.
Could agree with you more, GoStangs.
-
What happened to the rumor that Hooks always gets what he wants?! ;D
-
Get over yourself, Ol Gabe. They should publish the list because it's the law. Case closed. The board's reasoning is merely their way of buying time. Change the law and your whining argument turns into something with merit.
-
Schools can request waivers from UIL for students who are older than the rule allows. UIL reviews each request on a case by case basis.
-
Hopefully you told the school board president to do whatever it takes to keep Credeur at Lumberton.
-
Stangs defense is selfish when it comes to giving up points. Just awesome. Gilmer can only hope Stangs eat too much turkey.
-
Congrats to all who received recognition. What about Donte Lopez and Sam Gurski?
-
Let's hope Coach Credeur wakes up Christmas morning with a pay raise from LISD and not LM in his stocking. Plans for a new turf field would be nice too.
-
-
Hopefully, LISD's plan to keep Credeur is better than their traffic plan.
-
I would think he'd take LM over PNG. Can you imagine what the Lumberton faithful would do if he took the PNG job when those two teams played? I really hope LISD steps up and makes him an offer he can't refuse.

He certainly deserves to have his Happy Meal super-sized!
