  1. How is this going to work especially for schools small like Deweyville?? If the volleyball girls are not playing at the same site as the football boys what do the cheerleaders, band members, twirlers, flags, etc. do???? When you attend a really small school all of these overlap. If the cheerleaders who play volleyball don't play so they can go to the games then there goes the volleyball program. This goes for all of the programs. Why be a cheerleader if you can't cheer at the football games. This is going to hurt the programs and no one with any say cares how it will affect the students. I also don't see how traveling this far is going to be possible with budget cuts and the like of things like that not to mention the LATE nights.
  2. Deweyville players and coaches need to keep their heads up. This program will be stronger in years to come. Some very good players are moving up and the experience they are all getting will benefit the Pirate program. Can't wait until next season. Pirates will be back!!
  3. I think that Deweyville would benefit if they can drop to 1A. How the heck can the pirates truly compete when the schools in 2A or twice as big or bigger. I guess time will tell. Think it would be nice to see how competitive they can be in 1A if given the chance.
  4. we need an update on this games turnout!!!! Who won?? What was the scor?? Who got crowned HC Queen in the rain?? Info please.
  5. The students who play for Deweyville give all they can during every game. It is hard with not so many guys. These boys play with all their heart. The coaching staff is doing a great job with the guys. Some of you who want to criticize the coaches or say that the pirates aren't giving it their all need to find another team to support. If you can't support 100% then we don't need you. ALSO, Addison isn't the only player on the team. Even he realizes that the only way the others can continue to improve is by being given the chance. SO with all that said: Pirates keep your heads up and continue growing better. You do have support out here that knows you are giving it all that you have. No matter what the score board reads you are all winners by never giving up.
  6. what is it going to take for Deweyville to get back on track and get to winning????
  7. OKAY, Pirates, what the heck is going on???? We need leaders to step up and take charge. Come on guys!!!
  8. WOW!!! What a great way to sum up a terrific season. You guys overcame a lot of adversity to make it as far as you did. Great job!!!
  9. etbu no need in your negative comments. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs. Neither team really played to their full potential How pathetic to make a comment like that about any team that has made it this far!!! Both teams are obviously very talented or they would not be in the play offs. Good luck to both teams as they deserve to be where they are.
  10. No, Deweyville does not charge for baseball or softball games. But, I can also assure you that the red isn't coming down. there is a great view of the field from the stands. Sorry.
  11. Everyone is supporting one another to get through this difficult time. All of the sports are back in action and the students are coping as well as can be expected. Please keep the Deweyville students and community in your prayers. It is still hard on all of them to look around and Destin not be there with them in person.
  12. I guess it is a big secret why Evadale did not show up to play in the CHAMPIONSHIP game at the Deweyville Tournament last Saturday. Someone must know why and just isn't telling. Sounds like very bad sportsmanship unless there is a good reason that we haven't been told yet.
  13. when does Deweyville play again at the tournament in Evadale?
  14. As a loyal Deweyville fan I see nothing wrong with the coaching staff. Many on the staff were new this year and learning to work together as well. The boys were always encouraged to go out and do their best. New things were tried and some worked and some didn't. Like someone already stated earlier, with Deweyville being such a small 2A school is it hard to compete with schools who have 3 and 4 times more boys than we do. It would be nice to move down to 1A and be one of the bigger 1A schools. I really think that our team will continue to improve and Coach McDaniel and his staff will continue to grow and new great things for the Pirates.
  15. This is a very talented group of young men who have played together since they were little. They work great together as a team and will certainly make an impact on the future of Deweyville football regardless of what anyone says. I can't wait to see them continue to grow and sharpen their skills.
  16. go to the Buna stadium and sit on the visitor side in the stands and there is a light pole that blocks your view when you are trying to watch the game. No matter where you sit it gets in the way at some point. We have never been to a stadium where a light pole is put right in front of the visitors stands. It is just a little awkward that is all. It sucks to miss a good play because the pole gets in the way. With as many pirate fans that are at all games it isn't like you can just move to get the pole out of your line of vision. No big deal. The important thing is supporting the players and cheering them on to victory. Home field advantage LOL a good conversation piece anyway. It is hard to coach from the stands with it in the way. I guess we will leave the coaching to McDaniel Friday night.

  18. I doubt it. That would mean that they were being nice to the visiting team.
  19. last i heard he was in a hospital, concious and moving if i hear more i'll post What team??? What happened?? I hate when these kids get hurt playing ball.
  20. as a 1986 Sabine Pass graduated I will be keeping all of the Sharks in my thoughts and prayers. Go out there and show them how much you want this. Sabine Pass will never stop and the players deserve to be on that field.
  21. We live in Buna and are lucky enough to have electricity. We got it about noon yesterday. I know not everyone in Buna has it yet, but they seem to be coming on here and there pretty quickly compared to Rita.
  22. well h**l. I no sooner hit post and our lights went out. Just my luck. LOL
