badndn got a reaction from AthleticSupporter - Jock in Talent To Win?
Smitty you posted this in regards to Dodge's record at Marble Falls, but the key thing missing for Dodge at MF versus the talent they are up against each week in district is the depth of athletes. MF is roughly 700-800 students smaller than the rest of its district. And they are much farther away from Austin where the other schools are and dont have alot of the in town training that is available in the offseason that CP and Leander etc. have. If you have a three star player for every 100 students and a four star kid for every 500 then MF is short handed in its athletic depth. Not many coaches that can each year coach up 7 to 9 decent players to match those great players at larger schools.

I firmly believe that this is one of the reasons you have not seen a local (Golden Triangle) 4A team make a state title run in a long time. It gets tougher each week going up against teams with 2000+ students the farther you get in the playoffs.

Allman was the highest paid HS HC/AD in Texas when he took the Westlake job five years ago at 125K per year. So Dodge never made more than 120K per at SLC.
At UNT his retirement will be based off of his base salary only. And Im not sure that he hit on many off those incentives.

Westlake win before him and will win with him. Westlake has a great recent (last 20 years) history and has the same talent as Southlake. Theres just as much if not more money in Westlake than LT and the bloodlines run deep there as well. Many ex UT football alumn living and prospering in Westlake. Take a drive through there next time your in Austin and you will be amazed at the money and housing in Westlake.

Living in Westlake aint chopped liver! Down on Lake Austin. And the student body at Westlake is eerily similar to that of Southlake. Rich kids with all the training amenities at the tip of their fingers and a winning tradition.
Dodge will return to HS coaching elite at Westlake.

Dodge to Westlake is a no brainer. Wife is a Westlake grad. Father-N-Law ex coach and field named after him. It all matches up.
More shocking is that Allman is leaving for Southlakes sister school Colleyville Heritage??? They must be forking over some mega bucks. Allman ($125K per) was the highest paid coach in Texas when he moved to Westlake from his alma-mater at Odessa Permian. That guy dont stay long wherever he goes.

Starts with the parents! When the kids are young and impressionable. If the parents are involved (and positive) then the traditions will form and mean something to the next generation. And not just a few parents. The bulk of the community. Can't bash the school or the admins or the coaching for every move. Doing so breaks down the pride in the school.

This is all difficult to accomplish in districts without true feeder schools.

They only have to go to Bryan/CS half the time in the new district. The other half of the district is Huntsville, Willis and Caney Creek (all within 30 miles). Thats LOADS better than traveling 90 miles every week, which is what they had to do in 20-4A.

I think unlike last year the top three teams in this district will be pretty good this year.

    Central, PNG and Nederland.

PNG returns a lot of experience and will be adding a nice group of underclassmen athletes to that experience in the upperclass.
Some new names to remember come fall, McZeal & Hauck. Both will have big impacts on the 2014 Indians.

OK so that makes alot of sense. I wondered if this had anything to do with where his family was.

I get that DVille is smaller than Warren, but just not sure that the talent in Warren is any better than DVille. Heard alot from the Pirates over the years and very little if anything from the Warriors.  Maybe Babin changes all that.

badndn got a reaction from Trocket in Will BISD Hire BMT Ozen a Good Coach or still search for that 8 & 12 Used Car Salesman?
I think with the hiring of Coach Foreman at Central last year the BISD proved that they can and will find a good coach...Bigger question for BISD will allways be "Can they keep a good coach?"

I think with the BISD policy on paying it's HC the same at each school and not having AD's at each school they will continue to have to hire assistant coaches as HC, but with a little research thats not allways a bad thing. Of course with these policies it makes it tuff to keep those guys around once they have tasted success.

This is not a knock on anyone else...I have never seen a NEWTON offseason...I have however seen a WOS offseason program and several others in the area and based on what I actually have seen...WOS is best!
I am willing to bet that you don't KNOW anything about the WOS athletic budget. Not like the Stangs are rolling in the dough.
