  1. The next game for said team was against Crush (Shugart) the '97 team and the final was 18-2 (Crush). We were not trying to run up the score. We had only one pitcher and once we got up we wanted to try to end early to give her some rest. We were actually planning on leaving runners early to get out of the inning if necessary, but sometimes that sends the wrong message as well. Fine line.
  2. Why would UTEP want Roc when Gillespie is looking for a job? Remember folks Gillespie was the head man at UTEP when he took the A&M job. Besides, Marlin, Kasper and Clark would be higher on the UTEP list than Roc. I agree with coachacola, Memphis has recruited just fine without Roc, remember Rose, Evans and this current class they had (before Cal left) the number 1, 2, 3 and 13 players in the nation coming in. Not sure that Roc had anything to do with that :. Roc ain't going anywhere anytime soon. Somethimes I think West just throws things out there to keep his article in play!
  3. Two very good recievers there. If we get the right QB to get the ball two them, they will be dangerous. I agree, these two will be game changers and dangerous. Do you know who will be the starting QB for PNG next year? I heard Doty recently, but I think it will play out in spring with pads on.
  4. Fans in what STANCE? ;D Who was the big freshman WR last year (I think # 80)? He looked like he might make some noise before his career is over (if they can get him the ball).
  5. How can they not allow it? If a Houston area great player can play on a nationally ranked team and travel around the country and play on TV like Evangel Christian or Xavier from Cinci does, then all the school has to do is offer an academis scholarship and presto! They don't have any boundry lines to adhere to. Even teams like NW in Miami has an advantage because they have over 100,000 kids in there school district and the kids can choose which schools they attend, so naturally all the football players go to NW High. Imagine if all of the kids in the Cypress School District could choose which school they could attend! I agree this will be bad for Texas HS Football!
  6. Normaly having Texas City on the schedule would be big, but I really think Crosby will be a big player next year with maybe the top JR QB in the Houston area. So Crosby at the Res!
  7. Just googled "Kendrick Harris" basketball. Mahoney is not on scholarship. Nwevo's scholarship is probably up. Not sure that all of the signed guys for next year are on scholarship. Also I look for one of them to not be here next year. I don't think Davis is a go.
  8. How many scrimmages are you allowed? And how many teams will be available for spring scrimmages?
  9. Did some research. This kid was the player of the year in the SCC this year. He averaged 22 per game and 7.5 assists. He also shot 67% from behind the arc, granted he only took 36 shots, but that is still impressive. He only played 16 games. He had to sit out the first semester for some reason. Of note though there are no stats at all for E.B. Davis??
  10. So five PG's on team? Who didn't sign or was released? When do we get a big man or a legit shooter?
  11. I heard that he was contemplating going overseas. Not sure he could handle it. He really needs to get academic help, not Jon Lucas basketball help. Hate to see a kid waste an opportunity because the people around him have handled him with kit gloves and not been real and stern with him over the years. I think because of that he just doesn't get it and thinks it will work itself out because he can play.
  12. Are you kidding me? How is that pressbox on Dayton's home side not requiring an elevator? That thing is in the clouds. In 2007 when we were there I watched a guy start the treck to the box in the first quarter and at halftime he was still 10 rows from it, and needed oxygen! ;D
  13. For the record the PNG scoreboard and video board cost the taxpayers of PN and G 0$ as well. Same setup as Nederland, sponsors!
  14. Funny thing is the QB (Hughes) was a Sophomore last year and one of the top LB's in the area (Beard) was a Junior last year. Did they leave school early and go pro or did I miss something? :
  15. The biggest drawback to any artificial turf is infection! Not sure if PNG has any routine dissinfectant spray that they will use on the field?
  16. That is correct the scoreboard was actually ordered several years back with the option to include a video board later when the bond issue was passed. The scoreboard itself is not new, just upgraded. All that in mind there are many a things that Nederland got and PNG had to have and vice versa. That is a good thing, folks. I am very thankful of our neighbors to the northwest. I think that rivalry has created many an opportunity in both the athletic and academic arenas for our students that might not have been available otherwise.
  17. It's a private school with tuition. Good students : get scholarships! They are not restricted to zoning or district requirements.
  18. What's the latest? Why did he not go JC?
  19. Based on last year and the new scheme on offense I would say PNG will be the DeRon Segura combo.
  20. Is Dayton at 9 games because of the consolidation of Forest Brook and Smiley?
  21. Lord here we go again :. PNG and Nederland have both scheduled Lamarque in years that they won a state title. PNG played Brehnam a few years back when they where loaded (Jerret Lee and B. Collins) and ranked #1 in the state. Nederland scheduled Waller when they had Johnson a few years back. Don't forget it works both ways when scheduling. Brehnam has no reason to play a home and home with PNG. They don't need to drive for 4 hours to play a quality opponent pre-district nor does PNG or Nederland. I would like to see PNG keep Crosby on the schedule for the next few years at least until Merka graduates. I would also like to see us schedule Dayton and PAM. I would like to see the mid county schools and PAM have an alternating schedule. PNG @ PAM one year, PAM @ Nederland the next, then PAM @ PNG, then Ned @ PAM, something like this. If they scheduled both teams each year it would give them less games against 5A opponents and put the in the same boat as WB now with Ozen and Central.
  22. IMO this would ruin Texas HS Football as we know it. One thing that erks me is that the national top 25 is loaded with Private schools that recruit players from other states that alllow the privates to compete for the state titles! Today schools like Odessa Permian, Lufkin and Tyler can compete for state titles at the 5A level against metro area schools, but if they were competing against the best (recruited) talent from the metro areas all on one or two teams, they would not stand a chance.
  23. Oh yeah everyone at PNG runs under 4.6! : Prezoomed Forty times are always bogus. Notice how many blazing fast guys 4.3-4.4 (per their own admission or someone from their school) in college get official 4.6 at the combine. If LCM had 15 guys running under 4.6 last year they would have won at least one game on speed alone! Someone said Lumberton a sleeper?? How can the returning District Champs (twice) be considered a sleeper? they will be a front runner to everyone they play next year. A sleeper is a team that no-one expects, like PNG, Ozen, LCM or Vidor.
  24. I am hearing he may be lining up wide of tackles instead of under center this year?? I guess Spring practice will not indicate this since he is in baseball (which is where he will make his money) right now. But if he is at QB, he ain't a young pup anymore!
  25. Don't you think it would be posted at the top of this section of the forum if we had it, Jack A$$?? I really do get tired of you trolling over here trying to start crap. You have brought this topic up several times, berating our lack of an exhibition schedule for next season. Get over it. We'll be whipping bearpussy a$$ on the gridiron soon enough, just sit tight (as if there is anything else to do in HVille :).
