Most anticipated 09 pre-district game for your team?
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Oh no you didnt ;D I doubt PNG will be rolling over anyone : This years BH team will be better than the one you squeked by last year :-* This years PNG team will be better than the one that did everything in their power to give you the game at your place last year :-* -
Why would we want a kid that can't handle adversity at QB? You have to earn your starting spot! I may be wrong because I don't have all of the facts, but if the leader of the offense has quit before because he didn't get his way, do you really want him no matter how athletic he may be? Hope I am wrong and something else was going on. He was heck of an athlete in HS.

I hear the locals are not expecting much out of TC this year. Last year was mediocre for them as well. Crosby on the other hand is expected to be a legit deep playoff contender. They should have beaten us last year at their place, but we were able to rattle Merka in the second half of his first ver Varsity start. He ripped us up in the first half both on the ground and through the air and I look for him to be out for revenge. This has the making to be a great game. -
Minor league baseball season is over before football season begins and minor league hockey begins toward the end of football season, now the beach I agree is a big draw, but not the Zoo! ;D

No. ODU is in Norfolk, VA in a metro area of over 1.5 million people. They also don't have much else in the way of entertainment! DC is up the road a bit. LU is in a Metro area about 1/4 the size.

a couple of the guys from the baseball team play in the secondary so it should improve when they get more practice time. Speaking of which...How much practice time did DeRon actually get? -

They going to split, Coop? Doty is the better QB. Tall (close to 6'3") with a good arm and pretty sharpe. He completed 19-26 for 4 TD's and he threw a pick on a heave just before the half. Desmond is a very good athlete. They will find a way to get him the ball some, they have to. I could see him taking some snaps and running the option or a wildcat type set. He is not as good a passer as Doty and he is only about 5'10". At this point Doty will start, but both should see the field. -
Question: What are the top 5 HS Football jobs in SE Texas?
badndn replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I noticed you put salary as one of the strengths of PNG and Nederland. I'm just curious, what is the difference in salary in your top 5. I don't know what WOS' is or any other for that matter. I don't know all of the numbers, but I do know that Nederland ponied up big to keep Neuman (near or over 6 figures) when he was flirting with Lamarque a few years ago and PNG was prepped to give an experienced coach $100K. I think Faircloth (PNG) is in the $85K to $90K range and with success he will be rewarded. Creuder (Lumberton) is in the $70K arena and underpaid! All Beaumont coaches make the same $72K range, which posses a problem in keeping a good one when he is offered elsewhere. A $20k raise would cost $60K and I don't see that happening, plus they don't have individual school AD's. Hooks probably makes close to $80K, but if he retires will they pay the new guy Hooks money? From what I hear, NO. So basically Nederland pays the top Dog about 20K a year more than most area schools and PNG pays the Cheif 10-20K more depending on experience. -
Question: What are the top 5 HS Football jobs in SE Texas?

Opinion! 1. PNG - Stadium, Salary, Tradition, Community Support, Single HS District (can develop program at early ages) 2. Nederland - Salary, Building Tradition, not sure about community support after bond? Single HS District 3. WOS - Athletes, Tradition, Stadium (needs new Pressbox), Single HS District 4. Lumberton - Community Support, growing numbers, Single HS District 5. Silsbee - Stadium, Tradition, Athletes, Single HS District I left out the BMT schools because they don't pay well and it is tough to build a program because the MS kids are spread out. Also they currently have poor facilities (soon to change, but they will be shared) and the community support is very fairweather. I don't consider Dayton SETX or it would have been top 5. Newton probably would have been #6. -

colorado adds setx baller to its list of offers
badndn replied to LHSALLZONE's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Good for him. Hope he recovers fully before the season so he can really so them what he's got. Of the list I might choose Missouri because they are in the Big 12 and rolling. But I wonder why UH or TCU have not come a callin'. If TCU were to offer he would have to really consider them because of the defense. Playing LB for TCU right now is serious business! ;D -

Perkins, Lewis sons put unique Lamar spin on NBA series
badndn replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Ask anyone outside of Boston or the Golden triangle to name the 5 starters for the Celtics: Peirce Allen Garnett Rondo and that other guy...Big Babby, yeah Davis! He has done a good job as the fifth opetion and is amking aniche for himself as a good rebounder and decent defender, but not a STAR! -

badndn replied to garrett's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Bellows will be the offensive MVP and Beard should be the defensive MVP (of course he will be coming off of a knee surgery so who knows how quickly he will return to full speed). Because of the injury, I don't think he will carry the ball as much next year. I think he will get it on short yardage and goal line mostly, but he should be on the field for every play on defense. -

When did Perkins become a "Star" player??? Love the way Bob embelishes. -
I hear ya, but the question was who would be the top QB-WR connection next year and going on facts from last season and not what we think because of a new offense, it would be crazy to argue that anyone other than Bellows to Brady or even Selanga would not be the most logical pick in 20-4A. I didn't say Doty to DeRon or Doty to Segura (both WR were good last year for PNG). Even though I think with Faircloth they will put up nice numbers, it's still an unknown. If I had something at stake I would go with the known from last year. I hope that Crouch gets LCM going. The tougher the district the better chance we have of crowning a 20-4A State Champion soon, which we need to get back on the map.

Dayton and Nederland offense looks like pop warner
badndn replied to texans's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I wouldn't say Nederland is one dimensional at all. I would actually say that they play to there strenghts. Last year they ran more out of the spread because they had the personel. The year before they threw more out of it because they lacked the personel in the running game. Just good coaching if you ask me. One dimensional is texas tech or PNG under MB! -

Whatever you do ndnsrock don't call Faircloth's offense the "Spread" in his presence. I here he hates it. It is not a spread. They spread the field yes, but they use motion on every play and try to confuse the defense unlike the spread where you use no motion and you react to the defense. I love the fact that they (the staff) have use all excited for the change though. Did you or anyone get out to the scrimmage today? -
The question was not most improved, but who will achieve the most success? Most would measure HS football success on playoff rounds. I still say then that Central has the best shot at going a few rounds deep. PNG will have quite a few new people in pivotal positions, especially QB (which under Faircloth is very important) and without any varsity experience I think it will take while to get it going. I expect PNG to improve through the year as they get experience at the QB spot and be tough at the end of district, but it may be too late to make the playoffs.
