  1. I think the all-star teams to be from vidor little league would question your statement that their league isn't as strong. There may be a few more kids in vybl but i would say the talent is comparable. Although we do let every kid play every game. How many kids play at Vidor LL? PONY has about 400.
  2. Angels v. Cubs tomorrow night for Championship. We have played them twice and lost. They are solid all around with a good, smart coach. I think our squad is better now. PA has done a great job -- thanks for all the work to make a great tournament.
  3. I don't think that explains the number. Don't forget, there is a huge Orange Pony league (larger than Vidor) so Orange is not likely losing that many kids to BC. I understand that Orange had a small LL that was not restarted after Rita and BC took those kids. But, I have not heard that BC is taking Orange PONY kids. The truth is that BC does a great job at their LL given the size of their community. I would like to know how they work with Select -- seems like they still have plenty of talent in League ball.
  4. I think another thing that helps Vidor is that our better players still play league when it starts. I think its great that the Dads and Moms still support league play and the kids like it because they get to play with there friends that they might not get to play with if they went strictly select. There are alot of us that still love league ball. Unfortunately the league doesn't work with the kids and coaches that choose to also play select (better competition). It does deplete the league to a certain extent of not only players but good coaches. I hope next year we can find a way to work together instead of continuing to butt heads. Can someone please explain how BC does it -- they manage to keep their league strong (900 plus kids -- that is 500 more than Vidor) and still play Select (I assume). If someone knows, please explain.
  5. My understanding is that you scored 8 runs against the Angels. According to my records, that is the most runs scored against them all year. We lost to them 10-5 in league (Cubs) and the Twins (not in the tournament) scored 7. So...congrats.
  6. Good game Terry. I know you had a tough first inning (foul pop is not fun). Cory's play in the 6th was incredible (our 2b). Good luck to you guys.
  7. We are in the same part of the bracket so, if all goes well, we will see them sooner rather than later.
  8. Jason Sylvester is the head coach and I assist on the Astros (my second boy was the little 4 YO on the Astros last year). Jason is the father of our P in Allstars (only 5 YO on team) and a great coach.
  9. Here are the teams from Vidor: Vidor 1 - Angels Vidor 2 - White Sox Vidor 3 - Pirates Vidor 4 - Astros Vidor 5 - Royals Vidor 6 - Tigers Vidor 7 - Red Sox Vidor 8 - Cardinals
  10. Same here Rob. Has anyone taken the time to fill in the complete brackets? I believe the Vidor teams are as follows: Vidor 1 -- Angels Vidor 2 -- Astros Vidor 3 -- Cubs Vidor 4 -- White Sox Vidor 5 -- Cardinals Vidor 6 -- Indians Vidor 7 -- Rangers
  11. So...who will be running the music at PA? That was a cool feature last year -- like a big league game.
  12. Congrats on the sombrero. Believe it or not, my 7 YO wears his from Shetland (and they are not youth sizes).
  13. When someone gets the brackets, please post them here.
  14. He is okay -- but his (barely) 4 YO brother is the one to be afraid of.
  15. Someone needs to revoke piratefan's press credentials -- not sure how he is getting the inside scoop.
  16. Well, I guess when if we play them, we will intentionally walk him!
  17. And, he has hit the 3 HRs in the since 4/25 (in the last week and 1/2). I hope he stays on the tear.
  18. Glad to know you "struggled" for the win... Congrats. Post the location and time of the next games for the Vidor teams you know plz.
  19. Tournament starts 5/16 and Vidor will host. Larry Dial is leading it up and will do a good job (along with lots of other Vidor helpers). Vidor has 8 teams and four returning coaching staffs. Sounds like the Storm is loaded. There is only one player from the A squad last year playing in Shetland this year in Vidor.
  20. Your boy will go yard soon . . . just relax. We have had one kid and a couple close. Cubs, however, are struggling right now.
  21. Kicks off in a little over a week. Vidor has some strong teams. Sounds like PA may win the home run contest and the Baker Boys will be trouble . . . lots of fun. Does T Green still have his studs in league -- or just select? And I know Groves will have some sound teams. . .
  22. How about a new SHETLAND DIRECTOR'S TOURNAMENT thread so we can forget about many of the posts here. Same for PINTO (that tournament is coming up soon).
