  1. Vidor ran into a buzz saw against Benbrooke. From what I hear, 3 HRs (including a 3 r HR). Lost 14-4. This is a great team with great kids. Good job to them.
  2. Vidor plays the Benbrook Regulaters in one semi final and Oak Hill plays Burleson in the other. The winners turn around and play for title of State Champion. (Who then goes on to the Zone Championships).
  3. Vidor leading Edgwood 7-0 in 3rd. A win here, and Vidor advances to the Final 4 in the State of Texas (Pony).
  4. Shetland lost to Southlake 23-20. Tough draw for Shetland. McCallen also in their pool.
  5. Shetland plays at 6:30 against Hays Co. Blue Bombers. If they win, they turn around and play the loser of Southlake Carroll and McAllen All Stars #1.
  6. Shetland lost 26-25. Correct comment about SLC -- they take this real seriously there and rolled through this tournament last year (10 runned the 2nd place team). Vidor didn't have its best game defensively, but they will get another shot at them.
  7. Shetland set to start against Powerhouse Southlake Carroll. This will tell a lot about the squad -- the Vidor team can really hit the ball so they should challenge even a team like the Dragons. Updates anyone?
  8. Vidor winning 17-5 in the 5th. Premature on the Final.
  9. Vidor winning 14-1 after 4 -- not much of a game. This really is a neat group of boys. The team would push Elite teams in Select. It would be interesting to see them scrimmage the Roughriders.
  10. Vidor's first game is Int. National Westside. Started at 7. The rest of their pool is Harlingen TX Bronco (always have good teams) and Edgewood Red (another strong league). I predict Vidor Pinto wins this thing.
  11. Vidor Pinto plays at 7 while Shetland starts at 8:30 pm. They do start some games at 4:30 but none earlier. Shetland has tough match with Southlake Carroll (of HS football fame). They won the Shetland State Title last year convincingly.
  12. Vidor will do fine up there. We learned last year that we can compete with those teams -- both teams will push for the title and have a shot.
  13. thanks TG...they kept digging holes then coming back (until the last game)...lot of fun. We need to talk.
  14. Congrats Vidor2. I predict that they will cause some problems in this tournament -- deep class of 8 YOs in Vidor. TG will have his squad ready (Orange), but it could be a close game. Good luck to both teams. Vidor 1 and TC1 will be nice. TC's only chance is to rock their ABs -- if it comes to glove work, the Vidor team is too deep. Good luck to both teams.
  15. I would recommend trying to get the Roughriders or GTB Hitter's Inc. squads to scrimmage. The Roughriders have a thread on here.
  16. What happened to the Roughriders? They won a competitive 7aa bracket last year in Sulphur. I think I know one of the coaches from soccer.
  17. Go get them TG. I am puzzled at the post because I know at 7U, the Avengers (3 teams), Biscuits, Banditos, Posse, Heat, etc., were all there. And, from my experience in Select Ball, if the Avengers are there, they are the team to beat. Congrats again to GTB. No small feat. We split on Sat. and went one and out on Sunday to the Banditos. I will say this about USSSA vs. Nations -- I think Nations rates their teams more aggressively. The Pearland Posse and Spring Branch Heat had no business playing "aa" -- they are very good Elite teams in Nations but were able to play "aa" in USSSA.
  18. And, if you want a good scrimmage partner, you should respond to that thread by jeremyf -- solid team from Vidor playing in the PONY system.
  19. Vidor 1 is the heavy favorite. In addition to the kids that they had two years ago, they have added some big studs who have matured. I know that TC has some big sticks -- possibly the biggest in the tournament in Greyson Cash. He is going to test even the PA Field. TG always has a great team and they will be ready to go (although may be running a bit tired...but I won't say why). PA has some major sticks and speed, but their glove work may get them in trouble. On the other hand, Vidor 2 has a nice blend of gloves and bats -- they could really surprise. I was unable to see any Groves teams this year but I remember 2 years ago some really good players. Good luck to everyone and enjoy the food in PA (and music).
  20. Congrats to Vidor and Coach Jason. Klay had an amazing night (as well as several other kids). To Coach Bryant, Cash, McLeod, and Hansen, great job. I thought that either team would and will do well in Dallas. And, tell Landon McLeod he is MVP. His legendary YMCA performance was the stuff of legend! Good luck to Vidor at State.
  21. Vidor 1 demolished Vidor 2 last night. Not pretty. Vidor 2 can play better. Vidor 2 plays TC tonight -- winner advances to championship game.
