He has been the AD/Hd Football Coach at Rusk the last 9 years(6 playoff appearances in those 9 years. and has been an AD/Hd FB at Wimberley, Kaufman, Barlett(won a state championship). this is what I know so far!!

You telling me HF has landed Wayne Mahaffey the AD/Head Football Coach from Rusk the last 9 years. The same Wayne Mahaffey that was a finalist for the Diboll head football/AD job on Monday and already has been hired at HF today on Wednesday??? The same Wayne Mahaffey that coached at BC with Chuck Young during the 80's when he was a OC? If I am not mistaken COach Mahaffey won a state championship at a small school in the early 1990's? How was HF able to get him???

Good for the girls and the program. Hired a week and already he's at two summer league games. I wish him and the HF Lady Horns all the luck. Congratulations to all I hope it works out, seems like a good hire.

From what I have been able to find out Coach Aguilar coached 3-4 years as an assistant womens coach at Northwestern State University in Louisiana. Have not been able to confirm anything else but did find this out online. Anyone know more? Have the HF girls met him?

Although I do believe that district 's should be preparing assistants to become head coaches, I do not feel this is always the best way to go in hiring head coaches. I do not believe the fact someone has grown up in the same district he or she now works has anything to do with how good of a head coach they will be when given the chance. In fact getting your first head job where you know everyone and grew up with the community can make for many different pressures then an outsider coming in. As for HF job, I do not know either person but if coaches have been leap frogged once for a job it is very unlikely this time will be different. Whatever the decision on this issue, I know the individuals making this decision will make the decision based on a heck of alot more information than anyone on this forum has, including myself. I just heard from a little birdy that the Lady Longhorns have landed a new basketball coach, and I know this is obvious but it isn't the softball coach. Any names or rumors to who this individual is and where are they from? And has the out-going coach resign or is she planning to stay on in some capacity?

Well, does that mean HJ will needing a new AD/FB coach in the very near future?

HF lost to EC, WOS, JASPER, KV, and OF last year

I am really amazed that are 6 people that think HJ and BC (one total win in 21-AAA last year together) have a better chance at winning this district then HF? Am I wrong but didn't HF go 5-5 and beat those teams by like 30 and 45 respectfully. And HF has something like 20 returning letterman No blind loyalty there, huh?

Hamshire-Fannett is definitely the darkhorse this year in 21-AAA. The success last year along with many returning players and a good coach makes them a team to be reckoned with in this district. There schedule early will prepare them as well, Anahuac and KV in scrimmages, EC, Huffman, Lumberton, and Jasper in non-district gives them a chance to see how good they can be or not?

So her intention IS TO LEAVE??? If so why hasn't she already resigned? Stringing it out will only hurt the kids and delay the chances of landing a quality coach to replace. Or have they already replaced her? I am sure she was there only to watch her daughter. Anyone know her intentions? Coach Volleyball ONLY at Vidor?

I believe you better not overlook anyone at anytime. And that if Silsbee is the only real test, then HF should be a better test BASED ON SOLELY on last years results. And you won't beat Silsbee by 3 TDs!!!!!! how about we wait till week 0? My point exactly, b/c will have to. But I hope BIGHOUSE is listening to ur advice

It is good to see loyalty in a young lady. Can you tell me, were lyou "locked out" of all dressing rooms all together and had none to use? Because I don't understand. So you weren't allowed in the dressing rooms in the gym where the games were being played? Or were you simply asked to relocate for home football games? And please tell me where to find these negative posts made about the basketball coach by the AD? Do you really think the AD reassigned her only because she "stood up for the girls program?" Because of I dont believe she was fired or actually reassigned, for this reason. Did the volleyball coach also get reassigned too, because she sure should have said something about the "lockout"? Or did they not "stand up" for their girls? Please explain your posts, I am curious. Has Coach Downs already resigned from HF or is she still planning to return next year to HF? Which one of the many jobs offered has she decided to take for next year?

Angel, I guess I should apologize for giving you the impression that I was being negative to your relative, the former A.D. And I mean that but I definitely meant no disrespect to him or you. But will you please tell me who made the playoffs last year that hasn't made it this year? In fact, if you include softball as in playoffs since they did get one more game than last year, by playing a play in game versus Silsbee this year, I know of no other team last year that made it? Please tell me if I'm wrong? I believe football won 2 more games than last year overall, girls track won district last year as they did this year, and so on and so on! As far as soccer, I believe that was added during the lame duck period last Spring when we had no AD. The track was at least an effort to be fixed. I believe a softball field has been approved and will be done before next season, I belive a tennis court has been resurfaced. Shall i go on??? So your not a leader unless you drive a bus or coach track?? Please help me understand. My goal was to defend the actions of this staff and these coaches, and I stand behind my words and intentions. No negativity against Coach Walker at all or your family. Please define "overall athletic program went way down this year."

I know my words mean as little as everyone else's who have commented in regard to this post but this has to be said. I feel very sad for the community of HF especially the kids. When individuals get on a forum and openly bash a program, an administration and MANY coaches as you have, shows such little class. How can you get on here and speculate as you have, about what you know nothing about. Were you there at every practice, were you there during every timeout? Were you at school everyday and in every coaching meeting to know why there is a change within the program happening at HF? If you were, tell us all why the Head Basketball Coach has been reassigned? Tell us why the boys basketball coach would be a poor candidate? Tells us all how bad an AD, Coach Mangan is and why and how he cares nothing about anything but football like ALL OTHER AD's. Even though the program has done nothing but improve this year especially in discipline. I know for one, I can guarantee you from my child's enthusiasm, that the HF program is in fine hands. And I personally saw him at more girls events this year than past AD's entire time, not a knock on him. I saw him personally coaching at softball practices and games. I feel for the first time some cares about girls sports at HF besides the female coaches. If someone get's reassigned or is relieved of duties, I can bet there is a very good reason. But there are many more valid reasons to keep coaches or get rid of coaches than their wins and losses. Sometimes it is simply philosophy, chemistry, role models, character, or compliance issues. But they are professionals and should be treated as such. If you have a problem with someone, go see them and discuss it in person. Allow them to respond to your comments. But I assure you if what I have seen in the last year is any indicaton, there will be many more positive changes to the HF Athletic Program under this administration. And frankly, its about time.
