Keep these scores posted please. -
Guys the way the Hawks have been playing and with the type of game Fairfield must play a 20 point HJ win would not be a suprise.
Guys i watch the tigers against wo-s and the first 3 quaters they played very averaged as if to say more relaxed wo-s tried to jump all over silsbee and for all wo-s did for at least through those 3 quaters they had no more than a 4 point lead silsbee finally made a very key adjustment which i think was be biggest difference in the game by putting Dc Stallworth back under the boards instead of pushing the basketball he had at least 13-15 points in the 4th quater alone but silsbee finally played the way i knew they could and shut down wo-s in the 4th if coach williams really turns this team a loose then they could win it all no disrespect to the other teams everyone at regional is good but wo-s could not move the ball or even barely get a shot off in that 4th quaters 7 of wo-s 9 points came from the free throw line this team has all the components to win it all they just have to do it . To me it seemed like this team went back to the old way of basketball that us tigers fan know they really played like a veteran ball club if they can beat hudson and hj can beat ff then saturday will in many ways be the state championship just not in austin. I wish both hj and silsbee the best it shows the state that there is great basketball here and as a die hard tiger fan lets focus 1 game at a time. I think the tigers really woke up during the 4th quater of the wo-s game and should start really rolling from there. GOOD LUCK TIGERS JUST WIN.
I agree that the Tiger's have the tools to win it all. They just need to play like they can. I hope that fourth quarter is what we needed to start rolling. If we play pressure defense like we can, we can get the larger leads. I can't see the Tigers getting too far behind many teams due to our work on the boards. So we should be able to win any game we are in. Lets Just Do It.
I say Silsbee defeats Hudson by 5, 62-57.
Boy, after these first two playoff games , I hope Lazeek is right. I don't know how many more of these close ones I can take. However, I don't feel like we are as suited to large winning margins a we were a year ago. We just don't shoot the ball well enough overall. We play real good defense and are great on the glass. Those are our strengths. To win by large margins we need to force more turnovers and convert on them.

HJ needs to root for Silsbee and vice-versa. NOBODY ELSE deserves to go to Austin from Region 3 other than 21-3A!!!!!
Can't say it any better. I wish this could be the state finals matchup every time it is played in the playoffs. Hopefully both teams will reach Saturday so we can have the matchup we all want and be guaranteed a team in Austin.
I know its already been mentioned, but we need to have a "21=3A!" Chant going on Friday night!
I think I said that somewhere.... -

Not sure what district they are in but there is Central high school in that area that doesn't play football either. -
Every season this discussion comes up. I said several years ago that it was Michael Dabney('75). Dabney had uncanny accuracy on his jumpshot. He was silky smooth, had all the moves. He had handles, with both hands. He had hops and could play inside. He could also step outside and hit 25 footers. They didn't have the three point line back then. Dabney would of probably set some records if they did. Ask some of the ole skool Gs around town how good Michael Dabney was. They will tell you. David Brown has to be mentioned also. David Brown was 6'8", weighed about 190 lbs, and was a high school all american He got a scholarship to Memphis State. Memphis State is now Memphis University. Getting a basketball scholarship to Memphis State is similar to getting one now to U of Texas, or Louisville, or Syracuse. Not as good as N Carolina, or Kentucky, but close. He played in the NCAA final four. Not too many players from Silsbee, or SE Texas can say that. David Brown's team mate and classmate('72) James Hunter has to be mentioned. Hunter may be the greatest athlete to come out of Silsbee. He was 6'3", weighed about 195 to 200 lbs. He had state meet qualifying speed in the 100 dash. He probably could run a 4.3 something. The only thing that held him back in basketball was the fact that he was so good in other sports, namely football and track. On the baskeball court Hunter had the hops, had the quickness and had the moves. He could hit a jumper too. Hunter got a full ride at Grambling. He was voted all american at cornerback there at least twice, and was a number 1 draft pick of the Detroit Lions. The first time he touched a football during the NFL regular season opener, he took the kick off 100 yards for a touchdown. If he had concentrated more on basketball he probably would of done similar things on the basketball court. Ask coach Bubba McGallion what kind of athlete Hunter was. Those are my picks. I never saw Darrell MacArthur. I was gone to the military.
Too young to remember the others but McArthur was awesome.
