David Brown's team mate and classmate('72) James Hunter has to be mentioned.  Hunter may be the greatest athlete to come out of Silsbee.  He was  6'3", weighed about 195 to 200 lbs.  He had state meet qualifying speed in the 100 dash.  He probably could run a 4.3 something.  The only thing that held him back in basketball was the fact that he was so good in other sports, namely football and track.   On the baskeball court Hunter had the hops, had the quickness and had the moves.  He could hit a jumper too.  Hunter got a full ride at Grambling.  He was voted all american at cornerback there at least twice, and was a number 1 draft pick of the Detroit Lions.  The first time he touched a football during the NFL regular season opener, he took the kick off 100 yards for a touchdown.   If he had concentrated more on basketball he probably would of done similar things on the basketball court.   Ask coach Bubba McGallion what kind of athlete Hunter was. I might even give the Hawks the edge the way they have ben playing.  They are playing there best while the Tigers have been playing good in stretches.  I do  believe if both reach this game the Tigers will have a litle to prove and pull it out.

I even remember RR's name and I was just a teenager not even in the same district as HJ.

So does HJ and the Tigers starting 5 have done just fine with it. If he needs to substitute he will. Kelton will be a big part of the game I am sure.

I was not sure if I would get to be at the game Saturday if the Tigers win friday. I will be able to get off early and make it so we need a good win friday. Let's go Tigers.

One difference in Clevelands big man and Silsbee's is conditioning. I heard Clevelands big man gets winded easily. The Tigers need more from their big two inside than we got friday.

HaHa but h*ll NO!! Not with the Tigers playing. It would have been tough to choose if we hadn't been. Hopefully I would have gone to Baytown and not been turned away in Livingston.

Poppa I believe it would be HJ's fourth regional finals in a row if they win friday. A split with the Tigers in 07 & 08 and then the win over Jasper last year.

Watching the Kountze game and I just heard Coop say New Waverly is better than the Tigers...............even though we beat them without a couple of key players.

Is it really 5 in a row I thought HJ had missed 1 or 2 there. Great job Hawks. Who said no 3A team could beat Cleveland by 13. I have heard the SEC chant at LSU's national championship game a couple of years ago. There needs to be a 21-3A chant in Huntsville friday. 

No not scared. We know what we will face it isn't Silsbee and HJ's first rodeo in Huntsville.
