Hefner had a great all around game tonight. He’s so much better when the guys around him are knocking down shots and tonight they were! Very unselfish player who tries to get his teammates involved. Vidor has a solid team, but Ned played one of their best games of the season tonight.

My first time to see Hefner, the dude can play. He had 22pts, but he did a lot of good things with the ball and off ball. He will turn out to be a very good player. Also, hats off to Coach Smith and Vidor on a nice season. Know they wanted in the playoffs, but he has done an outstanding job there. 

Will not go to a Play-In game ... SR Night, Playoffs on the line, yeah Nederland wins.  But I do want to give Vidor a shout out they are much improved and have had a good season.

It's a shame, and borderline sad, that an adult (and I use that term loosely) stalks these threads in anticipation for a 15 year old kid to have an off night or just not show up. What's got you so butt-hurt about this kid that people feel like they need to give you his stats every night, or you go and find them yourself after you find out they have a 20 pt final. Get outta your feelings and get outta here son. Take your keyboard and go somewhere else. 

Just FYI, I have never seen the kid play. My statement was directed at you but more because of observation due to every game you ask for his stat line and everybody gives you points scored and you leave it at that. You come across to me as a bitter parent who thinks their kid posses or posed more talent but doesn’t or didn’t get the same recognition and talk. I’m sure I’m completely wrong, but as a complete outsider and observer of this message board that is the feeling I get. I’m sure being he is a soph he is 15 or 16 years old, just let the kid ball out and be happy for him or any kid no matter where he/they end up at.

You are correct. But I dont think there is one with more potential in his class in this area. Silsbee has the best player in that class, but his height might hurt his recruitment. I hope not though because the kid can flat out play and is a great teammate and a great young man. He will make heck of a college ball player. Recruitment in basketball is based off of potential. A kid being 6'4-6'5 that can dribble, shoot, defend, and is a great teammate, and has the grades is a gamble most college coaches will take!

So much more to the game for an individual player than how many points a kid scored. SMH. Everybody thinks because a kid is a top recruit that said kid should avg 20 + points a game. I’m sure their are kids with better talent in the 10th grade, but do they have high GPA’s, top of the class, good teammate, not selfish, etc etc. some kids can drop 30+ points a game, but play no defense, cancer in locker room and don’t listen to coach etc etc. way more than just a stat line. Either way, a great player (at any level) is bound to have a subpar quarter or game. The GOAT (MJ) once scored 6 points in a game, which means he scored 0 in one of those quarters, possibly 2 Qs.
I can remember a game I played in HS when Brian English scored 0 points in the first half, then scored 29 in the 2nd half. How do you assess these examples?
 
Serious question: Have you ever played competitive basketball? If so, then I guarantee you had a bad quarter or a bad game. Does that mean you aren't a 'talented player' ? Hardly.
Interesting that you claimed (earlier this year) that you would make your 'own assessment' on his play once you saw him play against 'the big 3'. So far, he has done pretty well, yet you don't see what everyone else on this board PLUS D1 Major college recruiters see. Are you a college recruiter? It's okay to swallow your pride and just admit that you're wrong. Of course you are entitled to your own opinion, but the cheese stands alone in this case.....

Didn’t Lebron James score like 5 points in the second half the other day.. it happens 

TxHoops you warned me lol not it’s my turn why bother some live inside a house with no windows it’s pointless to tell them it’s light outside they will always argue and say it’s dark. With that said maybe these coaches at these schools know something about basketball Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Houston,Lamar have offered I’m sure they see his talent level and not just how many he score on a hs or summer level...ijs 

I have zero doubt YOU can WATCH a kid over the course of a game and have a very good idea what kind of player he is.  I also know you have seen this kid several times.  I have seen him many times against VERY elite competition (> “big 3”).  However, not every poster has your basketball acumen. 
And I got news for him/them, by the end of the summer, this “ok player” is going to add to that list of high D1offers.  Because he can play.  

He had 23 and 20 in the two games vs Ozen.
He had 15 in the first loss to Central. I am not sure what he had in the 2nd game.
Memorial held him to single digits, so there is THAT subpar game, the rest are a stretch though.
I’ve said many times, very good player without much help around him and very unselfish. He’s outstanding for a soph. Can’t wait to see him junior and senior year as he matures and hopefully gets more help around him.

Really don’t understand what the big deal is he is a 16 year old kid he will have good games, subpar games, and bad games that doesn’t mean he cant play the maim thing he is a great kid understands the game and has a high ceiling and for the record I’ve watched him play all summer long beside my son so let’s just congratulate the kid.

I am quite certain there have been times when star players have not scored a single point in a quarter during a game.

Oh, and Hefner scored 59% of his team's points last night. What more can he do?
