90% of Miguez shots were layups, Memorial made no adjustments in their press and he gladly had easy ones in the 4th qtr. Im sure he had 20-24 in the 4th wowww ...plus I wouldn't piss the kid off he seems to feed off that. WinWin and I quit counting after he got to 30....lol

You were quick to talk about Nederland losing to Kelly first game of season. Now they win the tourney and  you say its weak. Come on man, that blowout lastnight was weak. Give Ned thier props..

I know this...anyone who thinks this was a weak field is sorely mistaken. Sure there were some weaker teams in it, but there are weak teams in every tournament. Take the top 4 from the Bulldog Classic and top 4 from the YMBL and 2 from each tournament would be your semi final games. Maybe 3 from the Bulldog Classic

Our boys came out with high energy from the big win over Alvin. Not to mention wanting to avenge a loss to Kelly earlier this year on opening night AND the fact that our Freshman AND JV teams both won 1st place yesterday in the BUlldog Classic as well.  And coach E had them extra fired up since Ned has never won our own tourney. 
All of the above led to a high intensity from our boys to start the game. We had a huge 1st Q and caused chaos with Kelly's back court and carried that momentum through the half. Both teams were sluggish to start the 3rd, but Ned never allowed Kelly to get within 18.
Congrats to Miguez, Kevin, and Darrell on all tourney honors.

Well ShortTexas1 tell us how you really feel then...lol...jk...theyll get it together....its still early so im sure the necessary adjustments will be made and by district theyll be rollling along and when playoffs come then itll matter most...

I was going to comment on a few teams, but looks like you covered it all! ;)

Bingo! Stop listening to what people are telling you and use common sense. If no one is calling or showing interest, fix your game. If you are 5'10, learn how to be a TRUE point guard...because you are NOT playing the 2 or 3 spot at the next level. And if you cant defend your position, enjoy your high school playing experience and hit the books.

Man, as parents we are so uninformed and make too many decisions with our hearts and not our heads. Listening to the wrong people who have never gone through the process or based on their experiences 5-10 years ago. I've said this several times, too many times people telling kids stuff and they have no clue what da hell they talking about. 

Have had two kids go through Ozen, both have received their college degrees and are doing just fine. Another is currently attending and is in top ten in her class.I am saying all of this to say it does not matter what school you attend if you have no parent support academically or athetically the parent failed the kid ,not the school .

I subscribe to the theory that kids are the products of their environment, as opposed to the reverse.  The young are blessed in that the Lord made them resilient.  I do think success is greatly heightened by parental support, which is often lacking in some schools that struggle.  However, I happen to know for a fact that no young doves were or are lacking in that department

If you are an unsigned senior, playing in 5A, against Central and Ozen (scout draws), and you played in the post season...it aint the coach or the school

Here are truths..   up untill a couple of years ago, the only team keeping your district above water was Dayton.  
Vidor took you to the woodshed.  They aren't/wasn't known as a powerhouse
You are 0fer vs. Central
If you lose before making the title game, your season was a failure.
When your talent dries up again, your coach will take that next 6a job.  What will you do?

y'all aren't fooling anybody.  Everyone has known you two have been the odd couple on here for years.  I'm not saying which one of you is Oscar and which one is Felix though.  

That must be a Beaumont thing. Doesn't happen in Nederland. 

Can't image any reason a kid would WANT to leave his team just before his senior year. Maybe its not the kid, maybe the parent is being transferred?? Season starts in two weeks. I couldn't imagine transferring to a new school (especially one out of this area) and joining a new team and expect good things to happen. He either:
1. gets there and the team is really good (and he plays a small role).
2.The team is really bad; therefore, no and not a positive experience
3. The team is average, he takes someone's spot on the team and his new teammates don't like him while he has a miserable Senior year
Adjusting to a new school and kids is hard enough during the middle of one's senior year. I couldn't imagine trying to join a new team as well. There will be many obstacles regardless of 1-3 above.
IF he has the option to stay in Nederland, why abandon your TEAM that you've played with for 3 years?? If it's opportunity/scholly reasons, go out, have an outstanding senior year, make some noise, and get noticed.  He could still have a tremendous senior year and get an offer or two. It's not too late. These kids have ALL played in multiple tourney's in Houston and some have played in Vegas and New Orleans. Plenty of exposure and opportunities to get noticed. Not sure how a change in scenery is going to change that. If anything, it would be more difficult to get noticed.  Moving to Cali or NY isn't going to change that, PERIOD!  No reason this TEAM couldn't go 2, 3, 4 rounds deep this year like we did 2 years ago and get even more exposure.
I would assume a kid like Jordan Hunter or Toe-Toe could have gone to a prep school for his senior year. They chose to stay, and they both made memories that they will never forget. Hunter ended up playing on the big stage in Austin for the Ship. Hard to compete with memories like that. Though it was many moons ago, my HS buddies and I still talk about our senior year of ball.

And English being on the bench will make a pretty big difference too

Nederland battled with Sam Houston until the last few minutes. It was a 6 point difference for most of the game then it got to 10 and Nederland started fouling. Nederland had way to many turnovers, once they clean that up they will be tough for any team.
