  1. Just want everyone to know that was a good game but after review on film there was a fumble on that last drive while beard was still standing up and ozen recovered and the refs did not see it not only that but they gave beard the progress of where he landed not where the ball fell out. At that time the score was 20 to 17 and ozen was on a roll. Sounds pretty piculiar to me. This is a fact ive seen the tape.
  2. Hey hey. Im not trying to rip anyones list because this ia an excellent one. Just naming ttwo very good athletes that are or have played at that next level that would also bring a little nastalgia. sorry if i was misunderstood gabe.
  3. Just think Of names like jeff granger and zane williams and this year bunner from vidor who were better than their elected counter parts for the years of 1990, 2003, and 2008. pretty good names
  4. i agree with the point that it is important that the dads and granddads take a part in their sons baseball. It keeps them on the right tracka nd out of trouble. The problem occurs when the dad thinks he knows more than the coach or gets involved with his sons high school team too much and over steps his bounds. When a player reaches the high school level parents need to cut some of those strings and let their kids fend for themselves. Trust me the real cream will always rise to the top. On the other hand coaches need to be aware that they are playing players for the right reasons not because who their dad is or how much money he has and so on. The best player with the best attitude should be on the field.
  5. i ahve met roijas and seen him coach and im sure he will do what he can with what he has. I am just wondering if hallman tried for this job. He has been coaching longer and is a great guy. He was messed over in his other job before coming to west orange and I should would like to see him get the dues he has coming to him. I dont believe that hooks made a bad choice i just wish coach H could get whats coming to him. good luck stangs in the future.
  6. I think the best coaches are those at the smaller schools or the schools with out that talent and still get good results year after year. I know these coaches mentioned here are great coaches but when was the last time they had to coach kids on when to tag up or when to run or not to run. My vote is for all those coaches that have to spend tons of time on the basic stuff everyone at these big schools already know.
  7. As of late they have done better. But I know personally of two players that are getting no looks and I know that they are very capable of playing at that level as a matter of fact they are being recruited by several other D1 universities.
  8. The 1 or 2 I was talking about was in other sports because im talking about lamar in general. They do not keep enough home talent here when there is an opportunity. When they did have football it was the same way. I have talked to a few older guys that played at lamar and are from here and they said there was plenty of talent back then that was going away because lamar never talked to them. At this very moment I know of two baseball players that are deserving of scholarships and Gilligan has yet to even speak to them or send someone to do so. Although he has signed a few more in years of late.
  9. To me its not very smart. The NCAA has a rule not scouting the kids during the season. That is personally. But if they play at your school and you allow them to play at your complex that voids the rule and you can see them play and recruit them. This would be to lamars advantage in keeping some of the local talent because not only do they get to see the beaumont talent but they get to see who ever they play as well. Just a thought but then again almar has never been high on recruiting in this area lately. 1 or 2 a year.
  10. Apparently you werent paying attention vpirate if you were at the game. it was about two ot three feet off the ground toward the first baseman and he came up to field the ball and the pitcher didnt do a good job of fielding hios position and the second baseman didnt cover. at no time did it even come close to going over the pitchers head I was right there.
  11. Wasnt a pop up was a hard bunt used to draw the firstbaseman away from the bag so he would have a chance and as far as i could tell it was executed pretty well. It stayed off the ground but never more than a couple of feet. No one would have had a chance to catch it in the air. And yes had it not worked out im sure others in the stands would have had words but since it did the coach got lucky and the kids is a master.
  12. Getting back to the topic I believe isadore to be the real deal and if it is true about jefferson then kentucky is taking a gamble on an unproven kid with no stats based purely on his size and possibilities. Jefferson never made one play nor was he a team player and if he gets an offer and goes then he will either conform or they will see through it in minutes and be cut. That is the nature of the beast. Get along go along. make waves and watch you sink.
  13. As successful as the golden arm of casey hagen and the bats of those young sharks can carry them. Go sharks. Go Daryll.
