I don’t care if anyone agrees or disagrees with it, that was a well-written, well-reasoned post.

They probably didn’t start it, but Odessa Permian certainly perfected the “recruiting process” during the Oil Boom in the 70s and 80s.  Unlike Yates, the big selling point was financial remuneration.  Dads got jobs, Moms got jobs.  Families got homes.  And an above average football program was turned into a powerhouse/dynasty.  Bissinger wrote a fantastic book on the town, the program, and the issues of race that still plagued the area at the end of the 80s.  Why he didn’t delve more into that aspect of Mojo I guess only he can answer.  Because it was certainly there and no secret in West Texas and elsewhere.  But no one said Boo about it
Yates didn’t invent that wheel (or HF or EC or whomever else you want to bring up about HS “move ins”).  They are merely operating under rules that have probably been skirted since the UiL came into existence.

It's because it is a stupid excuse.  El Paso has 14 high schools including several 6A schools.. nobody gripes that they could "draw talent" from an area of tens of thousands of kids into one smaller high school.  It only matters when individual people complain.. Let's talk about Houston.  "It's not fair" because there happens to be a powerhouse basketball team in Houston ISD that's 4A?  What about the SAME school or many others who are absolute trash in football, baseball, or whatever else?
This is a stupid topic.  You can't start picking and choosing who should be affected.  UIL places schools into classifications based on the number of kids enrolled in that school.  That's the fairest way.

I don't think just any team can run the Argyle offense, but Argyle.  If a team is used to running and then all of a sudden tries to  run that slow down style it doesn't work.  Argyle runs their offense year in and year out.  They go out and test it against all those good to great 4A teams in North and West Texas.  I don't think Yates or anyone else can adjust to playing like that, not effectively anyway.

6 ranked teams in 7 playoff games!   Couldn’t be prouder of these young men.  All of them. But I have to give a special hats off to #3.  He mentioned it on twitter about the road he has had and I couldn’t be prouder for the way he turned it all around this year and lead his team to a state title.  Not taking away from any of the others but I couldn’t be happier than seeing him finish the season on the floor as the mvp of the title game!!
